Chapter 724: Chapter 727: Lucifer, it’s great to have you

When did Thomas Shannon change his ways and become a good person?

Old Mr. Standford helped her escape, so it’s unbelievable that Thomas Shannon wouldn’t punish Old Mr. Standford.

"Derek Clark’s words can’t be false. Since Dr. Standford doesn’t want to leave, then we shouldn’t force him."

Sophie Sullivan was suspicious. "Lucifer, I always feel this affair isn’t that simple. Thomas Shannon won’t let it go easily..."

Lucifer put down his knife and fork and elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin. "Cecilia, don’t worry. No matter what Thomas Shannon wants to do, I won’t let him hurt you."

He raised his hand and rubbed her head. "I’ll take care of everything."

Sophie Sullivan nodded. "Let’s not talk about him. It’s a mood killer."

She had finally managed to get rid of that fellow, Thomas Shannon. She was too happy to even think straight; why mention him now and ruin her mood?

After dinner, Lucifer and Sophie Sullivan went for a walk in the flower garden, with Gaby following closely by Sophie’s side.

Gaby seemed afraid that its master would abandon it again.

In the flower garden, the fragrance of the flowers was refreshing.

Under the glow of the landscape lights, the flower sea was as bright as day, looking as if it were from a dream.

Sophie Sullivan thought of the nightmare she had experienced. "Lucifer..."

"Hm?"

Lucifer turned his head to look at her. Sophie Sullivan’s gaze was deep and distant, as if she had lost focus.

She stopped walking. Her expression was somewhat vacant, her lips pressed tightly together as if she were enduring something.

"Dear, what’s wrong?" Lucifer moved to stand before her, his hands on her shoulders.

Sophie Sullivan raised her eyelids. Her light-colored irises blazed with intense hatred. "Lucifer, who did I have a grudge against in the past?"

"Cecilia, you..." Seeing her like this, Lucifer felt a pang of heartache, and even more, self-reproach.

He reached out, pulled Sophie Sullivan into his embrace, and gently patted her back. "Calm down, Cecilia. Those who hurt you will pay the price."

Sophie Sullivan trembled. "I keep having nightmares... Every time I wake up, I can’t remember the details of the dream. Only the terror remains, etched into my heart. In my last nightmare, I dreamed that someone took a knife and slashed my face. I begged them not to do it, I screamed for your help... but it was no use. They cut my face open with a sharp knife; my skin was split, my flesh torn, and fresh blood flowed. And you... you never appeared."

"I’m sorry, Cecilia." Lucifer lowered his head and gently kissed the top of her head. "It’s my fault. I wasn’t by your side when you were hurt. That won’t happen again. From now on, I’ll stay by your side and not let anyone have a chance to hurt you."

Gaby seemed to sense its master’s low spirits. It circled around Sophie Sullivan, occasionally nuzzling her hand with its head as if to comfort her.

Leaning in Lucifer’s embrace, listening to his steady heartbeat, Sophie Sullivan gradually calmed.

Her trembling body slowly stilled.

Sophie Sullivan raised her hands to embrace Lucifer, rubbing her cheek against his chest. "Lucifer, it’s so good to have you."

Lucifer chuckled deeply, affectionately rubbing his chin on the top of her head. "My honor."

Suddenly, Sophie Sullivan let out a low cry. "AH..."

"What’s wrong?" Lucifer anxiously tilted her chin up, examining her face.

Sophie Sullivan frowned, wincing and drawing a sharp breath from the pain. "I brushed against the wound..."

For a moment, in her elation, she had forgotten about the wound on her face that had just scabbed over.
