599 Chapter 599 The situation of Xiauyue and Fei Long

After finishing the little vermin that tried to kill her, Xiauyue wiped the blood off her sword with a thoughtful expression. Although she had tried to appear nonchalant, Xiauyue was somewhat worried by this latest attack. Xiauyue knew that the situation had been deteriorating recently. Still, she thought it would never reach the point where she would be attacked on her territory.

This time, the assassins had failed, clearly underestimating the true extent of her strength. Xiauyue expected her enemies to make such a mistake on only one occasion. At the very least, for Xiauyue, this was a small victory as not even those people could sit back calmly once they heard that they had lost a top-level two-star class assassin. Furthermore, losing a dozen experts at a level below two stars took a lot of work to ignore.

The more she thought about it, the more Xiauyue realized that time was running out. Knowing those people, this defeat would only make them lash out more ferociously in the future. They were that kind of unreasonable powerhouse. “Fei Long needs to know.” Xiauyue couldn’t help but mutter as she remembered how it had started.

Although a thousand thoughts were running through Xiauyue’s mind, she did not ignore Claire and the rest. Seeing how they looked at her, Xiauyue knew some explanation would be needed. “I hope you’ll excuse me for this incident. I didn’t expect this to happen as soon as I left the boundaries of the roaming cloud sect.”

Contrary to what Xiauyue expected, Claire and the rest seemed to easily accept the sudden ambush. Of course, Xiauyue didn’t know that from the point of view of Claire, and the girls, what would be strange would be for nothing bad to happen to Xiauyue and Fei Long.

Seeing how the girls took the incident quite easily, Xiauyue felt less worried. Still, that relief reminded her of a huge problem. As she looked at the dozen corpses, Xiauyue couldn’t help but mutter under her breath. “This is strange. Even if the battle was brief, it was not silent at all; the rest of my personal guard should be here.”

Immediately worry filled Xiauyue’s countenance before she disappeared and reappeared on top of a building. After using , Xiauyue used the height advantage and searched around her, finding faint traces of battle.

Consecutively using her instant movement skill , Xiauyue scoured the entire area a block around where she was ambushed. Xiauyue quickly found the corpses of her six missing personal guards. Only the four personal guards dragging her half-brother back to the sect hadn’t been killed because they took another route to get back.

Xiauyue’s heart bled at the loss of six of her girls, and her hatred for her enemies grew to astronomical proportions. Five years ago, Xiauyue and Fei Long had started the creation of their own faction by purchasing ten slave girls from the Sand Tribe. Over the years, the conflict in the Wild West worsened, and more of their people ended up as commodities at auction. It was so that the duo to house a hundred or so Sand Tribe women among their personal guards. After years of training and coexistence, those women of the tribe of the sands had become the most loyal and closest forces to Xiauyue and Fei Long. The loss of six of them was unbearable for Xiauyue.

.....

Having followed Xiauyue, Claire and the rest saw both the dead bodies and Xiauyue’s grim expression. They didn’t know how to react or comfort this friend of Desmond’s whom they had just met.

Just to make sure, Xiauyue went through all the corpses, but her findings didn’t turn up anything she didn’t expect. As expected, it was that two-star class peak powerhouse who secretly wiped out all of her girls; the minions weren’t capable of such a feat.

Xiauyue noticed the attack patterns and the marks left by that man’s sword. Still, she felt no consolation that she had already ended his life. In her opinion, that man had not suffered enough.

As expected, Xiauyue was no longer in the mood to continue chatting with Claire and the rest, but they understood. To everyone’s surprise, the normally quiet Revna approached Xiauyue. “If you want to take them back with you, I can help you with that.”

Xiauyue just looked up and nodded; she didn’t want to speak for fear that her voice would crack under the weight of her loss. Revna was sensitive enough to notice this. She nodded in response before letting her shadow store the bodies of Xiauyue’s guards. Xiauyue looked at Revna’s shadow trick but barely reacted despite her surprise; it was clear that the loss of those six women had affected her greatly. ƒ𝐫𝒆𝐞w𝗲𝚋𝗻૦𝘷e𝙡.c𝑜𝙢

Following the ambush and tragic discovery, Xiauyue led the girls out of the city and into the traveling cloud sect. After a silent walk for an hour without incident, the girls arrived at the sect’s entrance. The guards at the gate treated Xiauyue cordially and subserviently as soon as they saw her. Nevertheless, the princess of the Miao family was in no mood to reciprocate their flattery.

The guards noticed the bad mood of the famous princess of the Miao family and wisely decided not to ask questions about the four female guests that Xiauyue brought with her. The last thing they wanted was to meddle in young miss Xiauyue’s business when she was this upset.

Xiauyue didn’t even pay attention to the guards; instead, she led the girls toward her residence. Claire, Sasha, Cecilia, and Revna couldn’t do more than follow their hostess, saving any questions they had for later.

Even the amazement of seeing the huge and opulent mansion, the residence of Xiauyue and Fei Long, was not enough to stop Claire and the rest of the girls from thinking about the corpses they found. From Sasha, the rest had heard that all the dead girls were low-level two-star class when they were alive due to Aura fluctuations. Six people, all stronger than they were, and yet they had died; for Claire and the rest, it was hard not to be affected.

Entering the residence, Claire and the rest saw many women going from one place to another, busy with different tasks. All the women in residence shared the same skin color and general complexion, identifying themselves as belonging to the same ethnic group as the six dead girls. Realizing this, Sasha and the rest felt even worse.

In their distraction, Claire, Sasha, Revna, and Cecilia didn’t notice that Xiauyue, leading them, had stopped. When Claire almost collided with Xiauyue, she and the rest realized that in front of Xiauyue was a girl that differed from all the ones they had seen inside the residence.

She has black hair, rather short for a woman, eyes as blue as sapphires, cream-colored skin, plus a set of curves as deadly as a sharp sword. The woman, being quite tall, had to look down to meet Xiauyue’s lilac eyes. When she noticed the sadness on Xiauyue’s face, the other woman’s expression changed from loving and joyful to solemn.

Xiauyue didn’t wait for a question to be asked. Despite her pain, she still decided to speak the truth and explain the whole incident to the woman. At first, the other woman didn’t react much, except with some frustration at the mention of Miao Zi Fong. Things changed when she heard about the ambush, looking worried and upset, only to become absolutely enraged when she heard about the death of the six Xiauyue guards. Then, Claire, Sasha, and the rest saw something that gave them the certainty of the woman’s identity in front of Xiauyue.

In her anger, the woman could not control herself, revealing a terrifying, titanic, and domineering Aura of silver color that began to form scales on her skin. The scales covered up part of the contour of her cheeks while her eyes turned silver with sharp pupils.

Who was that woman going to be beside Mei Fei Long? The silver dragon of the traveling cloud sect, one of the most powerful martial artists on the continent, and one of the most beautiful women, a woman with tyrannical powers who was now very pissed off.

Fei Long’s sharp, beautiful face contorted with anger. The woman could be seen struggling to control her impulses, trying to contain the pain of her loss within her chest, but she eventually failed.

GROOOOOOOWL*

A dragon’s roar reverberated throughout the Roaming Cloud Sect, filled with anger, bloodlust, and revenge, as well as deep pain and sadness.

Seeing her beloved so grieved, Xiauyue could no longer contain herself, letting tears flow freely from her eyes as she hugged Fei Long.

Claire and the girls did not think that things would end like this, nor that their first meeting with Xiauyue and Fei Long would be tinged with tragedy and pain.

While this was happening, high up in the sky, hidden behind dark clouds, two people were watching all this, arguing with each other endlessly.

“See, nothing but pain. Love is always followed by tragedy.”

“You are looking at only one outcome out of many, and even then, the outcome is not the only thing that matters.”

“The result is the only thing that matters, especially when it involves life and death.”

“What is there worthwhile in life other than love? What is it worth dying for besides love?”

“Nothing but pretty words.”

“Pain prevents you from seeing clearly, Kryzsha.”

“I see much better than you with your pink filter, Myrilla.”
