Chapter 64: The Escape

It was late evening approaching night. The dinner table was set by the servants. The guest Evelyn along with her maid came to the dining chambers. She sat for the dinner glancing around. After some time, Caelion came with Rhael following behind. He sat at the table and also gazed his eyes.

"... Where is the Crown Prince? Is he not joining us for the dinner?" He asked one of the maids.

"... His highness has a mild stomachache, so that will not be the case for today, Your Grace." She answered.

"... He is feeling ill. I should have not held him at the veranda for so long." Evelyn said. "...Why are you saying it like that, young lady? It is a just stomachache, I am sure my nephew will be fine." Then he turned behind to Rhael, "His highness is not feeling well because of the sudden change in the meals. Rhael, go and give some meds personally and make sure that he takes it in front of you." He said.

Rhael bowed and left the hallways to comply with the orders. He walked up the stairs, went for the room entrance and saw that Lyra was standing outside the door almost as if she was guarding it.

"... I have heard that his highness is feeling under the weather, is he feeling better now?" He asked Lyra. ".. He is doing much better. You can inform his Grace that there is no need for him to worry." She said while holding both her hands together.

"... Glad to hear that." Rhael said and reached for the door. "... Wait, what are you doing?" Lyra said and shut his hands. "... Oh forgive me for informing first, I am under his Grace’s order to give him some meds." Rhael responded.

Lyra hesitated, her hands wrestled. "... His highness is sleeping. I have given his some medicines along with his dinner." She said. "...He must take some rest to recover fast." She added.

"... It is fine, then I will not wake him up but simply will ask a healer to cast a healing spell on him. It will help recover even faster." Rhael suggested.

"...NO..." Lyra yelled.

"..No? I am just asking for you to let us help him heal faster." Rhael said. ".. What is wrong with that?" He asked.

Lyra started sweating, her body became restless. ".. Ahhh.., yes. I remember now.", She said, " I remember that his highness told me to not let anyone enter the room as it will disturb his sleeping." She added.

"...Enter his room?" Rhael repeated, then his focus shifted to the sweating maid who was almost trembling but trying to hide it. He chuckled and gave the devilish smile.

Then, with dead focus and a suspicious look, he pinned Lyra side to the wall and slammed his hand against the wall. "...Could it be that his highness is not even present in the room?" Then, he stared more intently on Lyra, "...Well, of that was the truth, then this would be a case of insubordination as I have come under the Grand Duke’s order..."

15 minutes earlier—

The corridor outside his chamber fell silent, the servants went out to prepare the dinner table, Aurelion moved without hesitation waiting for this moment. He sealed the door from within, then opened the balcony windows just enough to slip through. The night air was cool against his face. He extended his hand and formed a narrow wind beneath his palm, he stabilized his feet with the wind magic. He formed a rope infused with minor swing magic and secured it around a stonecarved into the tower wall. The rope tightened instantly at his command.

He began descending the cold stone while a thin layer of air magic was used as a cushion. He jumped down reaching a certain level of threshold. Below, in the shadow near the rear courtyard, Stefan stood waiting exactly where he was supposed to be in the place he said earlier.

He climbed up the wall. Stefan had brought a shabby horsecart with only one horse attached with his. There were too many stacks of hay placed behind in the cart section. "... Your highness, come hide in this quickly." Aurelion layed down in the cart, Stefan covered his brief ends with the stacks of hay and dry grass.

In his mind, he murmured "Look at this, Uncle handsome. This is the tenacity of a Modern Gen-Z Boy. You will not be able to make me study, this is my PERFECT REINCARNATION life, I will not ruin it by studying."

Back to the hallways outside —

"...Well, of that was the truth, then this would be a case of insubordination as I have come under the Grand Duke’s order..." Rhael threatened. "... No, there’s nothing of that sort, I....don’t know what you are talking about." Lyra Stammered a little.

"... I guess, you are right," Rhael turned around "...there is no way something like that would happen." Lyra exhaled in relief. Then, he looked behind again at Lyra with his devilish smile, "... Even if that were to happen, I shall send His Grace here either way." He smirked.

"... NOOOO." Lyra yelled, "... I was wrong, I apologize, please do not send his Grace here." She apologized. "..Ohh, but why?" He leaned against the wall.

"... You were correct, his highness is not here, please - please, I request you. Do not tell about this to his Grace." Lyra pleaded.

"... My, my. Now, how could I do that," Rhael said. "...I am his Grace’s personal aid, how can I not report this matter to him, especially when he asked his highness to stay." He added but in a playful tone this time.

"Please, I beg you." Lyra requested. "... Well, there is a way, I guess." Rhael extended. "...You know, spending so much time in the tower takes a toll on my body and I still have not seen the Capital’s market." Rhael talked in a round about way.

"...Huh, I don’t understand what does that have to do with this?" Lyra asked. "It does as the condition for me letting you go today is that you must go on a DATE WITH ME IN THE CAPITAL.
