Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 62: Infernal (1)
At the coffin’s corner, Ye Jun spotted a scroll, a brown bag, a broken sword with its gems shattered, an old brown paper, and a pitch-black sphere.
He picked up the paper and saw something written on it. Fortunately, it was in a language the previous Ye Jun knew, so he didn’t have a problem reading it.
[I didn’t expect I would die.]
Ye Jun was speechless. ’Who the hell starts a conversation like this?’
[And worse, I was actually killed by my mistress. Damned woman uses worse logic than Horneaters. Her mind is as big as those dumb mountaineers.]
"Buddy, why would you write this in your death note?" Ye Jun’s lips twitched as he wondered if he should continue reading this nonsense.
[I slept with my master’s wife.]
"Fuck this shit! Give me back the respect I gave you."
[It was just once. Really, just once. And my wife started calling me a cheater. How does that make sense?]
"It does, you sick fuck!" Ye Jun really wanted to punch this man, but only bones remained of him.
[You think it does?]
Ye Jun blinked.
[Then answer me. If I become a cheater just because I did it once, do I become a grooming servant just because I shaved my head once?]
"Why am I reading this?" Ye Jun wanted to throw away the paper, but he caught something written below the text.
[Wait! Don’t throw it away just yet. I was going to tell you more about my heroic deeds, like how I killed my Master after he almost crippled me for sleeping with his wife.]
’So that golden man was his master?’ Ye Jun rolled his eyes. ’And here I was feeling pity for this guy. Nah man, you deserved it.’
[Sadly, his wife turned against me because I killed her husband. Weird woman. Alas! She took everything away from me and left me on death’s door, so I asked my friend to make me a tomb where I could hide my inheritance. Sadly, the damned woman took away most of my belongings.]
"So this was a prank!" Ye Jun punched the skeleton, though nothing happened to it. Not even a crack appeared.
[What remained with me, I’ll give to you, Junior. There is my Cultivation Manual of Peak-Grade Profound Rank. There is also my sword, but it won’t survive the passage of time. And lastly, my Space Bag.]
"At least I didn’t endure pain for nothing," Ye Jun sighed. "The cultivation manual is worth it. But why a Space Bag? Couldn’t you leave a Space Ring?"
As if reading his thoughts, the text on the paper continued.
[I wanted to leave behind my Space Ring, but as I said, the damned woman took everything. You can take my inheritance, but promise me to bring down her sect. Its name is Shadow Moon Sect.]
There was some more writing, but Ye Jun ignored it since the man had continued talking about his nonsensical life. The more he read, the more speechless Ye Jun became.
’Why the hell would you write all your crimes like this?’
He truly couldn’t comprehend the man’s actions. So, he simply ignored the rest and threw the paper into his space bag. Then, he picked up the cultivation manual and also tossed it into the bag.
’I will check it later with Meihui.’
Then he picked up the space bag and opened it. Inside, he found a total of twenty Middle-Grade Spirit Stones along with a few Beast Cores with three rings swirling inside them.
’Woah! Now this is definitely worth the pain,’ Ye Jun grinned widely. ’I am finally rich. Goddamn, it feels good.’
Spirit Stones were extremely valuable as they contained pure Qi of heaven and earth, which Cultivators could use in their cultivation. Hence, they also served as the primary currency of the cultivation world.
They were divided into four grades depending on their quality and the amount of Qi they held within. As far as Ye Jun was aware, the Ye Clan’s annual income was around five hundred Middle-Grade Spirit Stones.
Just the Spirit Stones alone were enough to make him happy, let alone the addition of Tier 3 Beast Cores, which were also very valuable and would fetch good prices.
"Now I feel like I’ve received an inheritance," Ye Jun smiled and patted the skeleton. "Sorry for the punch, old man. Even if your mind was sick, you’re good at heart to leave me with all of this."
Still, there was something else in the coffin too. A pitch-black sphere rested alongside the other items. It appeared to be a simple marble, nothing more.
’The owner also didn’t mention it in the text, but why leave behind a marble in the coffin?’ Ye Jun wondered and tied the space bag around his waist alongside his workout robes.
Then he reached out for the sphere and touched it. But he couldn’t pick it up. The weight felt infinite, as if the world itself had grown inside the sphere.
’What the hell is this?’
Just as Ye Jun was about to withdraw his hand, the sphere finally reacted. A sudden gust of darkness flowed out of it, covering the whole burial chamber in an instant.
In the next second, the ground and surroundings around Ye Jun disappeared. He couldn’t feel anything, not even the space bag or his clothes.
His thoughts dulled for a moment before clarity returned along with a surge of panic as he wondered what had happened to him. As he tried to assess the situation, he found himself floating in an endless dark void.
’But I can breathe. I’m alive.’
He tried to move but couldn’t even feel his limbs anymore. It was as if he had turned into a cluster of thoughts meant to drift around for eternity.
’I knew it! This tomb wasn’t so ordinary after all. This isn’t the work of a perverted sick man. But then, who did this? And why? What even is this?’
He wondered how long he would have to remain like this. Fortunately, something seemed to hear his thoughts as the darkness around him gradually began to unravel.
But he didn’t find himself back in the burial chamber.
Instead, he was standing on a plateau.
He looked down at himself and realized something horrifying.
He wasn’t himself anymore.
