Player Awakening: I Become A Lord In Game-Like World-Chapter 31: Good and Bad Things
[DING! Congratulations, your Town Hall has levelled up]
[TH Lv.3 -> TH Lv.4]
[Kingdom Power: 16125] [+1500]
[Building unlocked:]
[1. Alliance Centre]
[2. Morale]
[3. Stone Wall]
[4. Stone Gate]
[Technology Unlocked:]
[1. Heavy Scout || Cavalry Camp]
[2. Lumberjack Huts || Lumber]
[3. Wall and Arrow || Town Hall]
A notification panel appeared before Caleb, after waiting two hours for the town hall renovation to be completed.
From the panel, there were several buildings that had been unlocked, all of them important for the city’s defence and security.
’Finally, the Alliance Centre is unlocked,’ said Caleb.
Not only the Alliance Centre, but Morale, Stone Wall, and Stone Gate had also been unlocked. Morale was another type of building that was useful for increasing worker morale. There were two types of categories, bad and good things
Morale also has a full impact on the perception of citizens -the citizens feature will be unlocked when the town hall reaches level 7.
Building many bad things, such as skulls, public torture instruments, and dirty sewers, will give the image of the player being a dictator.
In contrast, building good things, such as parks, circuses, fountains, and so on will make players seem like wise leaders.
All buildings in Morale cost 100 gold, with the same level of morale, a maximum of three levels.
Caleb pressed the Morale building and saw 10 decoration-like buildings appear on the panel, five bad things and five good things.
[Building Info]
[Building name: Morale]
[Durability: 100/100]
[Morale type:]
[Bad Things: Decreases population happiness || Increases work efficiency]
[Good Things: Makes the population happy and chilled out || Increases troop abilities]
From the information displayed in the building panel, Caleb can ensure that both morale types are useful according to the player’s objectives.
If he wants to focus on work efficiency to be able to increase daily productivity, then he can build more Bad Things.
But, if the player wants to increase the troops’ abilities, then he must build more Good Things. Everything was balanced in this game, so that the most cleverly built his city, then he would survive.
Caleb called two idle villagers and assigned them to build two different things, a public torture instrument and a park. Caleb wanted to see what the percentage increase would be when the two things were built.

Two panels appeared in response to Caleb’s command of the two idle villagers. Caleb ordered them to build the two objects close together in the farthest area of his territory, taking only 10 minutes until construction was complete.
[DING! Construction is complete]
[Building:]
[1 Good Thing]
[1 Bad Thing]
From outside, Caleb saw two buildings being built, a gallows and a garden full of flowers. He pressed one by one of the building icons, until it displayed the detailed information of the building.
[Building Details]
[Building Type: Bad Things]
[Stage: 1]
[Quantity: 1/5]
[Four more buildings to activate the moral effect of bad things]
[Work efficiency +5%]
Caleb read this, it can be concluded that the work efficiency effect of 5% will be gained if Caleb builds four more bad things buildings.
Yet, it did not explain in detail the amount of work efficiency increase in the next stage.
He pressed on to the garden building. The system was still the same, the effect would work if Caleb built four good things. The increase in troop strength was 10%
Because the two buildings are opposite to each other, if the player chooses to build both with the same amount, then no definite effect will be given. Players must choose one of the two.
With the current situation in the city, building more bad things was not the right thing. Building good things could increase the ability of the troops, but Caleb also realised that it would make his workers work less than before.
’I’ll build good things later. I’d better focus on the Alliance Centre,’ Caleb explained.
Caleb pressed the building menu section, then focused on building the Alliance Centre. He placed the Alliance Centre close to the town hall, since the Alliance Centre had its own battle mechanics.
Unlike the town hall, the Alliance Centre can accommodate alliance troop units from other players. That was what Caleb expected from Liliana.
If Liliana managed to build the Alliance Centre and join Caleb’s alliance, then Caleb could send his troops there to defend her town hall.
[Construction begins]
[Building: Alliance Centre]
[Building Type: Military Building]
[Cost: 250 wood || 250 food || 250 gold || 250 stone]
[Construction duration: ]
[00:03:59:59]
It took four hours for Caleb to successfully build the Alliance Centre, a time that was worth it but made Caleb impatient.
When Caleb looked at the building menu, he had forgotten to build a Blacksmith, which was an important building to improve his troops’ abilities.
Caleb summoned his idle villager and built a Blacksmith in an area close to the military building.
Blacksmith was useful for researching military technology, usually there were 5 technologies that were open and would have a significant impact on the ability of troops.

Unlike the Alliance Centre, the construction time for the blacksmith reached two hours. Now, there were a total of two buildings that Caleb was building, both of which were important buildings to support the defence and security of his city.
Even so, a city without a wall was just a city without a strong defence. Caleb refused to build palisade walls as the durability and effectiveness of the walls were lower than stone walls.
If the stone wall and stone gate were already unlocked, then Caleb would not use the palisade wall. He will start building walls to keep his city guarded from every side.
"Threats from other players may still exist, but with stone walls, they won’t be able to breach my town hall!"
