Chapter 30: Depleted Resources

[Caleb] [So, my guess is right. You see him, right?]

[Liliana_P] [Why did you kill him? Weren’t there other options you could have taken?]

[Caleb] [There were none]

[Caleb] [I didn’t find any other options to defeat him without making him die. Do you know about it?]

[Liliana_P] [I don’t know. I’m sorry]

[Caleb] [I’ll help you survive in this place. I’ll help you with your town hall protection until you reach level 4. But there’s one thing you shouldn’t do]

[Caleb] [Don’t forbid me from killing anyone. If that’s the only way to survive in this game, then you can’t deny it]

Liliana was in shock. She knew that if she told Caleb about this, Caleb would be angry with her. Even though it was just a text message, as a woman, she could tell and realized that the message Caleb sent her was angry.

[Caleb] [Do you understand? Reply to my message if you do!]

[Liliana_P] [I understand]

[Caleb] [You should focus on your town hall and your resources. That’s more helpful than telling me about the good and bad of my deeds!]

Caleb closed the friend chat page and let his body lie fully on the bed. His eyes fixed on the ceiling as his hand rested on his forehead, he still couldn’t believe that a player with idealistic principles like Liliana was still alive in this dangerous game.

’Of all the players in this game, why do I have to meet an idealistic player like her?’ Caleb complained.

Still, complaining won’t solve the problem. He was aware, there were many players in this game and they had their own personalities. They may not be able to accept fate if they have to fight to keep their lives.

There was one progress circle that wasn’t over yet. Caleb pressed the circle and saw clearly that it was the progress of the town hall renovation.

He pressed the progress circle and it displayed a panel about the duration of the town hall renovation which left about 12 hours left for the town hall renovation to be fully completed.

[Town Hall Upgrade]

[Level 3 -> level 4]

[Duration of renovation: ]

[00:12:43:09]

Caleb looked at the digital clock on the player dashboard panel, seeing that the time now showed ten o’clock at night, meaning that the town hall renovation would be completed when tomorrow arrived, precisely at 10 pm.

That way, the town hall would be at level 4 and several buildings would be unlocked, one of which was the Alliance Center.

With the Alliance Center, Caleb could determine who was a friend and who was an enemy. His anxiety would slowly subside if the building was completed.

"I hope nothing happens while I’m asleep," Caleb replied.

He closed the town hall renovation duration panel and began to close his eyes for thirty minutes, without doing anything.

The system would detect it as offline and Caleb could sleep peacefully until he woke up on his own the next day.

The next day.

Town Hall Rusty Axe

[2 Low-level Treasure Cave Found!]

[Mid-level Treasure Cave Found!]

[Explore the Treasure Cave?]

[Yes] [No]

Caleb woke up from his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes and stretched for a while, as he saw a notification panel about fog exploration that successfully found three treasure caves with different levels.

Not only looking at the panel, Caleb looked at the digital clock that was displayed on the player’s dashboard.

The time showed eight o’clock in the morning, two more hours until the renovation of the town hall was completed.

’I left them to explore the fog by falling asleep,’ Caleb explained.

With half-sleepy eyes, Caleb pressed the confirmation panel to order the three scouts to go explore the treasure caves they found.

One by one, they rode into the treasure cave and the treasure cave exploration time panel appeared, Caleb looked at it through the game map.

[Treasure Cave Exploration Duration:]

[00:00:29:59]

Caleb slowly got up from his bed, walking while stretching his arms and legs. Although the bed in the game was different from the bed Caleb usually slept on in his apartment, he didn’t feel any aches or pains as his body was in offline mode.

He stepped out, another panel reappeared displaying the daily production that increased, as well as the number of idle villagers which also increased.

[RESOURCES INFO]

[Wood: 4127] [+1870]

[Food: 5165] [+2805]

[Gold: 6015] [+1870]

[Stone: 4795] [+1870]

[Villager: 135/155] [+35]

[Idle Villagers: 69] [+35]

The increased resources in the four sectors grew significantly, as did the villagers and idle villagers.

The total number of idle villagers reached 69, which was quite a lot and Caleb didn’t know what to allocate them to, economy or military.

[Warning!]

[Resources are running low]

[Resource type: Stone]

[Remaining resources: 875]

A warning panel appeared. As Caleb had expected, the amount of stone resources was depleting quickly as the number of workers increased in the stone mine.

But, Caleb didn’t need to worry, there were several locations of stone mining resources that he could take.

There was one in the former Great_Dao territory, with an amount that might still be abundant. Because the location of the former Great_Dao territory had become fully owned by Caleb, he did not mind placing his workers there.

With the number of stones remaining at 875, then divided by the daily production of 17 with 10 workers, the stone resources would be depleted in more than five hours.

He ordered an idle villager to turn himself into a builder. He ordered the construction of a stone mine in the Great_Dao territory, preparing early so that when the resources ran out, the workers could be immediately directed to work there.

[Construction begins]

[Building: Stone Mine]

[Building Type: Economic Building]

[Cost: 50 wood || 25 food]

[Construction duration: ]

[00:00:59:59]

Production took an hour, Caleb didn’t mind it at all, especially with a small cost compared to when doing unit production or doing technology research.

Caleb pressed the Gold Mine building icon, looking at the amount of resources owned in that place. Usually, gold had more than stone, but it was better to check early so Caleb could act later.

[Gold Mine]

[Durability: 100/100]

[Level: 1]

[Production: 17/worker]

[Production time: 1 hour]

[Capacity: 10/10]

[Resources: 2132]

That’s right! The amount was still plenty and could last until tomorrow. However, Caleb still had to look at the big picture.

If he delayed the construction of the gold mine, his attention would be diverted as the town hall finished renovations, there were new buildings to be built, and a lot of technological research was being researched.

There were two gold mines closest to his town hall, one in ACCCidRAINN territory, and one in Demonic_sect_666 territory.

Between the two, however, Caleb saw that there was more in ACCCidRAINN, judging by the appearance of the gold mine.

An idle villager was sent to the territory to build the gold mine, just in case the resources ran out tomorrow, the workers could be ordered to work there.

[WARNING!]

[Constructing economic buildings outside the territory is potentially attacked!]

The panel usually appears if a player builds an economic type building in another territory, not in the player’s territory.

It doesn’t appear when a builder constructs a stone mine, that’s because Demonic_sect_666’s territory has been annexed by Caleb.

[Are you sure you want to keep building?]

[Yes] [No]

’I should have annexed that territory a long time ago,’ Caleb explained, a little regretful.

However, Caleb was not afraid of any threats. Only player D_Destroyer might trouble him around ACCCidRAINN territory. Still, John wasn’t a real threat to Caleb.

"Now, I’m just waiting for the Alliance Center to be established. Then I can recruit other players to join my alliance!"
