Playing inventor in a cultivation world-Chapter 12: Divine Credits
Returning home that evening, Seraph went to his room after taking some snacks. Although his mother insisted he ate dinner, he told her he wasn’t hungry.
Sitting on his bed, he delved into his mind space again. Standing in the familiar dark space, his gaze was focused on Halo.
"I’m ready to buy the Meridians Strengthening Pill."
He said indifferently. Immediately, an interface was displayed.
[Meridian Strengthening Pill - 20 Divine Credits]
[Purchase?]
Seraph nodded, and a small red pill suddenly appeared in his hand.
Examining it closely, its body was covered with faint runes.
"Does it have any immediate side effects?"
The yellow cube; Halo, spun lightly. ["Apart from strengthening your meridians, the pill also flushes out waste from your body—meaning you’ll sweat like a woman in labor."]
"Nice humor."
Kaiser gave it a stink eye, then brought up the Divine Shop. The list appeared in the air before him, glowing faintly.
[Meridian Strengthening Pill - 20 Divine Credits]
[Fireball Skill Scroll - 7 Divine Credits]
[Foundation Stabilizing Pill - 65 Divine Credits]
[Grade Twe Protection Talisman - 70 Divine Credits]
[Time Element Cultivation Manual - 3000 Divine Credits]
[Wind Blade Skill Scroll - 5 Divine Credits]
To his surprise, another item had been added to the shop. Holding his chin, he thought on his next course of actions.
’I should find some time to train with the elemental skill scrolls the Patriarch gave me. It should be quite easy.’
He closed his eyes and folded his arms.
"Halo... how long do you think it’d take Ariana to fully comprehend the Seraphim Sword?"
The robotic cube spun and answered. ["At this pace, I predict you have a few weeks left before she comprehends it."]
’A few weeks, huh...’
Seraph nodded, then left his mind space. His awareness returned to his room, and he found the red Meridian Strengthening Pill clutched in his hand.
With a determined smile on his face, he went to the bathroom and sank into the wooden bathtub after filling it with some water.
Sitting inside the water half-baked, he sighed and swallowed the pill. Seraph expected he’d have to wait for some time before it took effect, but he was wrong.
The effect was immediate.
He felt a burning in his throat, followed by a spreading heat through his body. It was as if someone has poured lava through his bloodstreams.
His pale skin turned read, and his smile became pained. However, the hot, burning sensation didn’t linger for long. It slowly cooled, and Seraph could feel some parts of his body growing sturdier—filled with energy and vitality.
From his pores, sweat came out heavily. Like it was being forced out, it gushed into the water in the bathtub, contaminating it.
Seraph repeatedly washed his face and hair as the sweat even came from his head.
After a while, the sweating stopped. Seraph stepped out of the bathtub, cleaning himself with a towel while draining the dirty water in the bathtub.
After re-rinsing it to ensure it was clean, he left the bathroom.
Surprisingly, his sister was there in his room, wearing a concerned expression.
"Yelena? What’s the matter?"
He asked, his lips curling into a frown. The girl sized him up with her black eyes, then sat on his bed with a sigh.
"You’re looking tired, Seraph." She said, then patted the foam beside her. "Sit."
Seraph obediently obliged and sat beside her. His smile was still present, but had faint.
"Tired? Is it because I’m training Ariana and school work? I can cope."
Yelena shook her head. "Although you act mature, you’re still a kid—even more than me. You need to enjoy your time as a child, Seraph."
She gently placed a hand on his head, ruffling his hair slowly.
"I can’t ask you to stop what you’re doing, but I hope I can help you rest."
Seraph stared at her, his smile slowly receding. ’Such empathy... feels unfamiliar.’
He sighed, surrendering himself to her. Yelena hugged him and laid on the bed. Nursed in her embrace, he let himself relax and fall asleep.
"Whenever you’re weary, big sis will be there for you."
...
Seraph’s routine became fixed. He would attend classes in the morning, train Ariana in the evening, and cultivate at night. Occasionally, Yelena would cuddle him to sleep whenever he was extremely tired.
Like that, a month passed by. Seraph got his first payment from the Patriarch, and also successfully learnt the two skills given to him by the Patriarch.
During this time, he had advanced into the Peak Beginner Stage. His cultivation was only known by Elder Cassius and the Patriarch. Although both adults were initially surprised, they immediately tagged it with his seven-ci aptitude.
Finally, Ariana had also completely mastered the Seraphim Sword technique. Seraph approved of her talent, even claiming she was a genius.
That remark made her quite cocky, so Seraph had to knock some senses into her by effortlessly defeating her.
Returning home early, he ate dinner with his family and returned to his room. Although he felt his parent’s concern about his monotone life, there was nothing he could do about it.
As he laid on the bed, he began thinking.
’Very soon, the cultivation resources I’m getting from the Patriarch wouldn’t be enough anymore.’
After all, his next breakthrough would be a major advancement through realms.
’What skills do I have that can earn me money...’
Thinking deeply, he soon had an idea. The following day was the start of the weekend, so he was quite free.
’I’ll pretend to go out with Big Sis, then call Elder Cassius to follow me.’
After all, without the support of a high-ranking adult, he doubted he’d be allowed to enter his destination.
["You’re so smart. You can actually plan ahead. As expected from the robot I created."]
Halo quipped from within, its voice dripping with mirth. Seraph pursed his lips and ignored the taunt. Staring at the bedroom ceiling, he imagined seeing through the building and gazing at the distant starry sky.
’It’ll be a beautiful sight.’
And like that, he fell asleep.
.....
The next morning, Seraph, Yelena, and Elder Cassius stood before a large building. The latter two had surprised expressions, especially Elder Cassius. Receiving an unexpected letter of summon from Seraph early in the morning was a bit disturbing.
He had rushed over to understand the issue, but was led here instead. Staring at the industrial building, he asked with a sigh.
"A Smithery?"
