Playing inventor in a cultivation world-Chapter 11: Sects
In the clan hall, Matriarch Suho’s question hung in the air like a guillotine. The Moonveil Clan elders fell silent, unwilling to confirm her claims.
However, Gomen smiled mysteriously and answered.
"Well, it’s no new news at all that my daughter has a five-ci-aptitude. Or is it that your Suho Clan is lacking in gathering information?"
His veiled insult made Matriarch Suho’s expression turn ugly for a moment.
Before she could retort, he continued.
"Anyway, you shouldn’t worry about my daughter’s life. I want her to marry someone she truly loves."
The Matriarch scoffed, then rose to her feet.
"You’ve made your choice, Gomen. I hope you don’t regret it in the future."
With the an elder from her clan in tow, she left the hall. Just before she left, she revealed a malicious smile and said.
"If you want, my offer still stands."
Unfazed, Gomen smiled politely. "I’ll keep that in mind. Unfortunately, we’re very busy and cannot escort you out. We are deeply sorry for this."
The Matriarch snorted but ignored his biting remarks and left the manor. Her son and the guard were already waiting by the carriage with sour expressions, making her frown.
Inside the carriage, she finally opened her mouth and asked her sulking son what the problem was.
"Hmph! I met that Ariana girl but her friend is so rude. Mother, you have to do something!"
Frowning deeper, Matriarch Suho turned to the guard.
"This... her friend is actually the second five-ci-aptitude of the Moonveil Clan. Young Master challenged him and ended up losing."
"Losing?"
"I dare not lie to you, Matriarch."
She fell silent, ruminating on those words. Kazi was already a Core Beginner Stage Cultivator despite his young age and talent. This was specifically because she had made him start cultivating five months before he clocked five. Also, she had been pooling the clan’s hard-earned resources into getting silver spirit crystals to enhance his cultivation speed.
This resulted in his cultivation being unstable and needing time to stabilize. Still, even if he couldn’t match those on his level, he should be able to beat a five year-old Initial Beginner Stage Cultivator.
’Could it be...? Impossible!’
She shook her head, dismissing the absurd thought. Her expression serious, she turned to the guard and asked. "What was his cultivation?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"That..." The guard hesitated, then shook his head. "I couldn’t find out because I was blocked by two spirit senses of the Core Advanced Stage."
Madam Suho was a bit taken aback. It wasn’t like the guard wanted to harm him. He just wanted to check his cultivation. Yet, they had blocked him from doing so.
This level of secrecy made the Matriarch uneasy. Why was the Moonveil Clan hiding information about him?

Meanwhile, back in the training grounds, Seraph knocked Ariana’s sword aside, holding his wooden sword by her neck.
"You lost. Again." He said with a faint smile. "However, I can tell that you’ve definitely improved."
The girl’s previously dejected face brightened, and she asked. "Really?"
"Hm." Seraph nodded, "At least you’re better than my classmates for now."
"Yay! That’s great!" She jumped up happily, then pulled him towards the manor. "Come. Father says he wants to see you after the training."
Seraph nodded and followed her. The servants greeted them as they passed by, fond of the kids.
Knock. Knock.
Without even waiting for a reply, Ariana turned the door knob and entered. Seraph followed her with his usual faint smile, his steps calm.
As usual, Gom in hen was seated behind the table full of books. He looked up and smiled at the kids.
"Oh. You’re done with today’s training? Great."
He closed the book before him, then gestured for them to take their seats.ekntl
"Seraph. I called you because I wanted to ask a few things."
The boy raised a brow, "I’m listening, Patriarch."
"Do you have any intention of joining a sect after reaching the age of twelve?"
Seraph pursed his lips slightly. Joining a sect was a serious matter, and it meant moving into a larger field. Of course it wasn’t easy to join a sect, but Seraph was sure his aptitude was enough to attract their attention.
["A seven-ci aptitude is very rare, after all."] Halo chipped in.
Seraph nodded mentally, then said. "That’s a serious matter. But I can tell... you seem to have recommendations?"
Gomen was a little surprised, his brows rising. ’He saw through me?’
Still, he smiled and nodded. "Yes. In the case you’re willing to join a sect, I have various recommendations."
"Oh?" Seraph tilted his head with a smile. "Please mention them."
The Patriarch nodded seriously, "My top recommendation would be the Soul Cross Sect."
"Why’s that?" Ariana asked.
"They’re the most versed with different elements, and one of our clansmen is also a disciple there."
"One of ours is there? It’s really a surprise!" Ariana exclaimed, eyes shining.
After all, it was very rare for a little clan like theirs to produce a disciple in the Cultivation Sects.
Gomen leaned back. "Another recommendation would be the Wolham Sect. They’re the closest to our clan, and they’re quite reputable too."
"Then the last one is the Bone Dao Sect. These guys are more focused on their physical prowess and rarely train with affinities."
Seraph seriously considered his choices. The three sects were good. Though he doubted the Wolham Sect was that good.
["I can make the decision for you. In case you’re too emotionally detached to decide."]
Halo quipped sarcastically from within. Seraph ignored him and instead folded his arms.
"I’ll consider them all and let you know when I decide, Clan Patriarch."
Patriarch Gomen welcomed further consideration, as it proved Seraph wasn’t impulsive.
’Although he’s young, he doesn’t act like a child at all.’
His gaze shifted to his daughter, who was pouting and glancing at Seraph.
’This girl... sigh. I hope she doesn’t get too attached to him...’
As Seraph left Ariana behind in the Patriarch’s office, he received a message from the system.
