Pokemon - A real story-Chapter 824: Recruiting

"Axel Blaze, how can you adopt a child without consulting us? Do you think that you have become so old that you can make such kind of decision? HUH?"

The voice was so loud that Axel had to take his head out of the phone. This was his mother shouting from the top of her lungs. Adopting a child was a big decision. Axel was not thinking it that way. He wanted Nora to work in the day care.

She loved Pokemons and she would also be learning a lot. Axel wanted her to be productive.

After his mom calmed down, his father took over the phone.

"Axel, this is the daughter of a man who tortured you. Do you really want to adopt her because if you do you will be reminded of that day again and again.", asked his father.

"That is the exact reason why I want to adopt her. I want to be reminded of that day when I was so stupid to get kidnapped. I want to be reminded how weak I really was and this will also motivate me to train harder."

Honestly, Axel didn't feel a hint of L in Nora. He never connected L with Nora cause both of them were vastly different.

"Ok, then. We will come there to adopt her.", said Arron.

"Really?"

Even his mother was surprised to hear it. That was a bold decision.

"But she would not be treated as our daughter but as your student. It is your job and your responsibility."

"I know. I will do it. I will send you the details of the orphanage. I will also have to go and meet my mercenary team and then I will come home.", said Axel and then hung off the phone.

Axel didn't know what Nora's future would look like but he had given her a hand in it.

Fairy Tail Headquarters,

Ashmita and Dory had worked overtime to gather all the new members for the team. The Fairy tail was a very popular mercenary team as it was the first team of the kingdom and Axel had become the first knight.

There were given a lot of perks and many strong trainer had applied to become the part of the team.

Axel had just landed on the headquarter a couple of days ago and he was suppose to take the final interview of all the trainer that at least had one king rank Pokemon.

The basic requirement for taking the test was very high. The user would have to be at least an uncommon rank human and must have a pseudo-king rank Pokemon. That was a harsh condition but even with such a condition, more than 200k qualified trainer had applied for the job and they needed to take only 50k of them.

Axel could have taken in 100k members but he was not going to chew more than his stomach could handle.

Handling 100k members was a massive job. They would need a lot of resources to break even.

"Sir, do you think that we should be taking new commanders?", asked Ashmita.

"No, the number of commanders would remain the same until I find someone truly extraordinary."

The position of the commander was not to be given to any members. They were the pillars of Axel's team and he needed to know everything about them before he could appoint such a position.

"Sir, after a round of test and questioning, we have sorted 90k members out of the initial 200k. Now, only the background investigation is left. I believe that we will be able to weed out a lot of spies from these 90k recruits.", said Krishna.

He was actually the technical part of this operation. He had a lot of experience in this field.

"Hmm, Let's start with the interview."

"Hmm, so Mr. Gustav. What will you do if one of us out here is going to die? Will you sacrifice your life for us in the time of need?"

"Of course. I am ready to give my life if one of my seniors need it.", replied Gustav immediately.

"Hmmm.", said Axel and wrote 'Rejected' on the form.

If a person was able to risk his life for someone who he had never met, then the person is either stupid or just saying to get inside the team. He didn't need such people.

There were people who said that they would only risk their life if they found out if the relationship with their seniors were friendly. That was a good answer.

One of the hardest and compulsory questions that Axel included was the motive for joining 'Fairy tail'.

This was one of the easiest question but also very complicated one. Some of them said it was for money and some of them said it was to protect region. Those who said it was to protect the region, they were further questioned to know if they were telling the truth.

Some of them really wanted to protect their families and Axel immediately approved them. Because a motive was a driving factor if one wanted to take such kind of job.

For those who said that they wanted to do it for money, Axel could not reject them because the vast majority of them was doing it for money. But Axel still verified if they were doing it for the greater good. If it was purely for greed of money, then Axel rejected them.

And finally, there were returnees and experienced. Returnees were the one who had already retired from this job but wanted to start it again. Don't think that they retired cause they were old. No, most of them were not even 30 years old.

They quit cause they could not handle the pressure of the job and they were fed up by the system. Most of them retired cause their seniors were as-holes and they suffered from them.

Axel had them take a psychic evaluation if they were ready for the job and the only question he asked was,

"Why do you want to return?"

If they said it was for money, then Axel would immediately reject them cause Axel didn't want them to quit so soon. Yet, surprisingly, none of them said that it was for money.

"During that time, I was just a brat. I wanted to climb up the ranks and become the most powerful soldier and trainer. Oh, how wrong I was. I had never seen a dead human before. That took a lot out of me but I said to myself that I need to go through this.

I did do it but my mind was not in the right place. Nightmare every night and I had stopped to smile. So, I decided to step out of the field. But that didn't mean that I stopped training.

I trained my Pokemons and myself to the limit. After training for years, I now have the confidence to do it again."

"But what is your motive for coming back?"

"I know that the world is going to end.", said the man.

"Oh... and how can you be so confident about that?", asked Axel cause he was clearly interested in this guy.

"I can just tell. I feel that the king is downplaying all of it. I have not missed the news. The tide battles are increasing and if they follow the same pattern then we would not have a place to live. I don't know why it is happening and I know that I alone cannot change everything. I am too powerless for that.

So, I want to join you and make a difference."

"What is your name again?"

"My name is John. Just John."

"Hmm. John, that was a great interview. You can go now and we will tell you the results in a couple of days."

"Thank you, Mr. Axel."

When John went outside, Krishna was the first to comment.

"Sir, I think this guy is just too good for us."

"Yes. If everything goes all right, I want him to the leader of the returnees."

"The leader, sir?"

"Yes. I believe that the returnees would take some time to get used to the field. So, they will be a separate group. I want him to be the leader."

The experienced ones were very easy to deal with. The main question he wanted to ask them was to know why they were moving towards them. They were also very complicated to deal with cause they were likely to be spies of the league or the competitors.

After a week of continuous interviews, they were finally over with the trainer who had king-rank Pokemons. Now, only the background check was left.

"Damn!! I never knew that the interviews would be so taxing.", sighed Axel.

It was really a very tough job and Axel's respect for Krishna, Ashmita and Dory went up a notch.

The background check would take a week. The prince and the royal family was personally helping them in all this investigation. If Axel and his team was doing it alone, then it might have taken months and they might not be as good as the royal family. The royal family had a lot of connections.

Finally, it was time for Axel to go to the day care. His parents had already told that they had completed the adoption process and now Nora was playing with Agnes and Aurther. She would take some time to get used to the new environment.

After 2 days,

Axel had finally reached his home. Since he was spending a lot of time at home, he was getting used to the slow environment.

"Nora, I adopted you because you were interested in Pokemon. You will now take care of the day care with Agnes and other people. Be sure to give it your all and do you best.", said Axel.

"Yes Sir. I will do my best.", beamed Nora.

This was quite ruthless to say to a 6 year old little girl but if Nora wanted to achieve something, then she would have to work harder than ever.

Nora started to call her sir which was also a bit awkward for Axel but he let it be. The day care's construction was finally completed and he could finally see what it was like. For the entire month of its construction, Axel had not visited there once.

The eggs from the prince, the royal family, and Oak were coming today, so Axel wanted to see what sort of Pokemons they would be sending.

"Uncle, why don't we go and see the day care. We will have to manage it in the future.", proposed Axel.

"Axel, I am too busy to do anything. The city is progressing rapidly. The plan to get new Pokemon eggs are also coming along. I just don't have the time.", sighed Noah.

Noah, the current mayor of Hakone city was very busy. In his reign, the city had progressed massively and there were many development projects. Most of the development was done for the defense of the city.

In the future, they would be facing a lot of tide battles and it was necessary that the city was prepared for it. Most of the incomes were diverted to the defense infrastructure and soldiers. The prospect of being a solider was very high in Hakone city. Yet, Nora wanted to see this day care.

Axel would also be sending some good potential Pokemons to the soldiers of Hakone City. This was done cause it was his city. If he could not even protect his city, how could he protect others?

"Sigh, let's do it. I do need a break.", said Noah.
