Pokemon: Spiritual Master-Chapter 361: "Gengar’s Boxing Tournament!"
Chapter 361: "Gengar’s Boxing Tournament!"
Sinnoh, Galactic Team Base.
Cyrus carefully reviewed the latest intelligence reports from Snowpoint City.
"A resurrected ancient titan... an extinguished volcano..."
His expression grew more serious.
Buzz—
The screen behind him suddenly lit up, displaying a woman with silver hair and large black windproof goggles.
Pokémon Hunter J.
She was standing atop a menacing Salamence, flying at high altitude somewhere.
Without turning around, Cyrus asked,
"Looks like you've gotten out of trouble."
Hunter J's tone was heavy. "But I suffered serious losses."
The League's raid came too suddenly and too swiftly, catching her off guard.
If not for Cyrus secretly reaching out and assisting her, her situation could have been much worse.
She herself might have been trapped.
"I've done all I can to help you," Cyrus said flatly. "Because of my involvement, we may have been exposed. We'll need to keep a low profile for now."
Intercepting Bertha was a calculated move—to lure more League executives to Snowpoint City.
As a result, Team Galactic wasn't exactly exposed... but they had definitely attracted the Sinnoh League's attention.
"I understand. We'll also be lying low for a while," Hunter J replied.
She needed time to replenish her lost personnel and Pokémon.
For that, she had already sent her subordinates out to secretly capture powerful Pokémon for training.
"When the time is right, I'll contact you," Cyrus said.
Hunter J nodded slightly.
Call disconnected.
Cyrus exhaled slowly, lifting his gaze from the tablet screen.
Softly, he muttered:
"...Johan."
Snowpoint City, Ampharos Express.
Given the volcano's instability and Regigigas' slumber, Johan and the others needed to stay in Snowpoint City for a while longer.
So, the group boarded the Ampharos Express, the city's famous scenic train, and set off for Lake Acuity.
Lake Acuity wasn't far from Snowpoint City. If anything happened, they could immediately fly back on their Pokémon.
Lake Acuity, along with Lake Verity and Lake Valor, were three of Sinnoh's most famous inland lakes.
Legends spoke of these lakes...
That when Arceus created the world, it also created Dialga and Palkia, the dragons of time and space.
Then, to bring emotion to the world, it created three beings—Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf—representing wisdom, emotion, and willpower.
These three Pokémon were collectively known as—
"The Three Lake Mushrooms," Johan said with conviction.
"They're called the 'Lake Guardians,'" Lucian corrected him.
"But they really do look like mushrooms," Flint commented, staring at an ancient illustration.
Johan turned to Aaron and asked,
"Aaron, what do you think?"
Aaron studied the image for a long moment, then nodded seriously.
"...Mushrooms."
The three of them exchanged high-fives and laughed.
Lucian looked helplessly at Cynthia. "Champion, say something reasonable."
As an expert in history and mythology, he trusted Cynthia's judgment.
"Hmmm..."
Cynthia lowered her head slightly, golden hair cascading down, then smiled and said:
"They do look like mushrooms."
"Great eye!" Johan gave her a thumbs-up.
Lucian stared blankly.
I was a fool.
I actually expected Cynthia to support me against Johan?
The problem isn't me—it's this world!
Johan handed Cynthia a delicately crafted cake.
She lit up like a child receiving candy and eagerly took it.
"Mmm! Delicious!"
Lucian looked at Flint and Aaron, who were completely oblivious.
Then he turned to the window.
I shouldn't be inside this train. I should be under it.
Let the world burn.
On the Train.
Ka-kaah~~
Gengar waved enthusiastically at the Ampharos operating the train.
In just one short trip, it had already befriended the train's Ampharos.
Draaa~~!
Speed up!
Ampharos called out to the conductor.
As the train neared Lake Acuity, the vast landscape unfolded before them—pure white snow stretching as far as the eye could see.
Johan clicked his tongue.
"Other people go on spring outings. We're going on a snow trek."
Flint cracked his knuckles. "Nothing a little fire can't fix!"
He tossed a Poké Ball, summoning his Fire-type Pokémon.
"Leave it to me!"
He pounded his chest with confidence.
Johan smirked. "Alright, then bring out your Torkoal."
Flint froze.
"I-I don't have a Torkoal..."
Johan gave him a disdainful side-eye. "And you call yourself a Fire-type expert?"
"W-Why Torkoal?"
Lucian mused, "Torkoal has Drought, making it an excellent weather setter for Sunny Day teams."
Building a Sun Team was a solid strategy for a Fire-type specialist.
Certainly better than a Hail Team.
Hearing this, Flint's eyes gleamed.
A Sun Team, huh? That was worth considering...
...But wait. What about Charizard?!
Did this mean he had to abandon his dream of raising a Charizard?
"Not at all."
Johan pulled out cookware from Gengar's shadow pocket.
"Torkoal is the best mobile stove for outdoor picnics."

Johan patted Gengar's head and whispered,
"This is the perfect chance to learn."
With Cynthia, Flint, Lucian, and Aaron all here, each with strong, well-trained Pokémon, now was the best time for Gengar to pick up some new tricks.
"Ka-kaah! (≧▽≦)"
You're right!
They had been traveling too much lately—no time to steal techniques.
But now? Now was the perfect opportunity!
"Ka-kaah~~"
Gengar leaned in and whispered,
"What should we learn?"
"I already scoped it out for you," Johan smirked.
Some key techniques included:
Garchomp's Scale Shot Lucario's martial arts Drapion's Crunch Bronzong's Trick Room setup
And most importantly—
Flint's Infernape.
Flint's Boosted Fire Punch technique was legendary, using Power-Up Punch as a base.
That was something both Gengar and Dragonite could learn.
If they mastered Power-Up Punch and incorporated it into their battle styles...
Yes! This was the path to the ultimate Ghost-type fighter!
Gengar clenched its fists excitedly.
Ka-kaah!
The path to becoming the ultimate Boxing Champion starts NOW!
It shadow-jumped right up to Flint's Infernape and shouted:
"Ka-kaah! Single combat, monkey!"
"Ku?"
Infernape, who had been shoveling snow, blinked.
Me?
A memory surfaced in its mind—Gengar Mega Evolving and hypnotizing Regigigas.
Its expression stiffened.
It liked fighting...
...but not fights where it got hit with five different status effects.
Gengar waved its fists.
"No moves—just fists!"
Ding!
Infernape's eyes sparkled.
A pure fistfight?!
At that moment—
Lucario, Kubfu, Dragonite, Tinkaton, and Scizor all stepped forward.
Even Lucian's Alakazam sighed,
"...I too... know a little hand-to-hand combat."
Johan's expression turned odd.
Fighting a Ghost with hand-to-hand combat?
What were these Pokémon thinking?
...Did they even know they couldn't physically hit Gengar?
And so, the first-ever "Gengar's Boxing Tournament" began!
To everyone's surprise—
Gengar didn't win easily.
Because—
Marshadow showed up.
And Marshadow, with its perfectly copied fighting techniques, wasn't about to lose.
...Of course, its real reason for joining had nothing to do with the delicious aroma coming from Johan's cooking pot.
None at all.
