Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 19: William West
The moment the door opened, the first thing that caught Riley Perry’s eye was the other person’s head of royal blue hair!
His skin was fair and his features were incredibly delicate. A pair of big, round puppy-dog eyes stared at her.
Although she could tell from the phone call that his voice was young, she really hadn’t expected him to be *this* young. ’Is he even twenty?’
Jack of Spades was clearly just as surprised. The cigarette dangling from his lips fell right to the floor. Luckily, he hadn’t lit it, so there was no fear of burning the carpet. "You’re LE?"
Riley Perry blinked at him. "Do you know another LE? Or are you disappointed by how I look?"
Jack of Spades quickly denied it. "No, no! How could there be another LE?" ’This wasn’t disappointment, it was a pleasant surprise!’
A soft chuckle sounded as two shallow dimples appeared on Riley Perry’s face. "What, are you planning to have me stand here talking in the doorway?"
"Ah? Oh, quick, please come in." Jack of Spades hurriedly ushered her into the room. Riley Perry didn’t stand on ceremony and sat down on the sofa.
Jack of Spades fumbled to open a bottled drink for Riley Perry. Only after opening it did he remember he hadn’t asked her what she liked.
Riley Perry saw his predicament and reassured him, "Don’t worry about it. Sit down, let’s talk."
Jack of Spades scratched his short, royal blue hair and quietly exhaled. He then sat down across from Riley Perry and said formally, "I’m Jack of Spades. My real name is William West, and I’m 24 years old."
Riley Perry raised an eyebrow. ’He’s already 24? He looks so young.’
"I’m Riley Perry. From now on, you can call me ’Big Sis.’"
William West’s face instantly turned red. "Okay, Big Sis." The moment he said it, he regretted it. She was clearly younger than him. How could he call her ’Big Sis’? She should be the one calling him ’Big Bro’.
Riley Perry: ’Tsk, so obedient. Just like the Spirit Cat I raised back in The Elysian Sect. I really want to ruffle his hair.’
"From the sound of it, you were abroad before? Are you planning to go back?"
At Riley Perry’s question, William West quickly tore his gaze away from her ankles. Her ankles were slender and fair, and the indoor lighting seemed to give them a beautiful sheen.
His attention shifted, and the blush on his face quietly faded. "I won’t be leaving again anytime soon. What do you do for work, sis? You look like you’re still in college."
Riley Perry took in his entire reaction and chuckled softly. ’This kid doesn’t have some weird foot or ankle fetish, does he?’
"Me? I graduated a long time ago."
William West: ’Graduated a long time ago? Could it be she’s actually older than me?’
Riley Perry unlocked her phone and glanced at the time. It was already 1:30 AM. She stood up. "It’s getting late. You must be tired after driving for several hours to get here, so I won’t disturb you any longer. See you tomorrow."
William West: "Ah... ah, okay. See you tomorrow. I’ll walk you out."
"I’m staying right here, just an elevator ride down. There’s no need to see me out. You should get some rest."
William West wouldn’t be dissuaded. He followed Riley Perry out anyway, only sauntering back to his room after she had entered the elevator and the doors had closed.
After closing the door, William West let out an excited shout, then opened a small group chat. "I met LE!!!"
The night owls in the group immediately erupted. "How was it? How was it? Is LE actually a girl? Don’t tell me it’s a dude."
William West typed back smugly: "LE is a genuine, unbelievably beautiful girl!"
He wasn’t exaggerating in the slightest. Riley Perry’s beauty was enough to make his heart skip a beat. She was just so sweet.
The other two people in the group chat were going crazy, but William West was already ignoring them. He took out his laptop to look up Riley Perry. For a hacker, a name or a photo was all it took to lay someone’s information bare.
However, this time he didn’t even need to show off his skills. He just typed the name "Riley Perry" into his computer and a ton of results popped up!
"So she’s a celebrity!" William West muttered to himself. "Then from now on, I’m going to be her number one fan!"
That night, William West didn’t sleep at all. He was busy looking up everything he could find about Riley Perry. So, she had disappeared for three years because she’d entered the entertainment industry. It was just that, for the past three years, it seemed she hadn’t been doing very well. There were even a lot of scandals about her online. ’But this can’t be right.’
So he started digging into those scandals one by one. Acting like a diva, going to bars, having terrible acting skills—it was all true. But since when was going to a bar a scandal? It’s not like she was fooling around with men there! Is it a crime to have a drink with friends to relax?
And the rumors about an old man were fake, too—the photo was photoshopped and had nothing to do with her. With the resources he could use to find all this out, how could someone with LE’s skills possibly be unable to clear her name?
The more he investigated, the more something felt off. There was a deep sense of disconnect between the "sis" he met tonight and the "sis" who was in the entertainment industry. It was like they were two different people.
He saved the information. He’d never had any contact with the entertainment industry before and didn’t understand its inner workings. Besides, he felt that even if he released the information now, it wouldn’t have much of an effect. It would be better to wait and ask "sis" what she wanted to do.
After doing all that, he followed Riley Perry’s official fan page on Weibo and joined a fan group. As soon as he entered the group, he started spamming red packets, instantly becoming a big shot in the chat.
Everyone knew that their Riley had gained a new mega-fan named "Death to Those Who Slander My Sis Riley." He was—rich, rich, and more rich!
The moment the red packets were sent, the red-packet-snatching assistant Riley Perry had designed was automatically triggered, grabbing her over 1,700 yuan in cash overnight.
When Riley Perry woke up the next morning, she was in an excellent mood after seeing how much money she’d snagged from the WeChat red packets. She washed up early and sent messages to Chloe Sterling and Rhona.
Soon, the four of them gathered in the restaurant, had breakfast, and then boarded the production’s bus to head to the filming location.
Chloe Sterling said eagerly, "Riley, after the costume fitting and photos, let’s go get something good to eat for lunch. The last time I was here filming, Ms. Shaw was watching me like a hawk, so I never got a chance to eat my fill. No matter what, I have to go try something today."
Her assistant said with a deadpan expression, "Ms. Shaw said you’re already three jin overweight, and you are absolutely forbidden from eating whatever you want during filming."
With a frustrated look, Chloe Sterling glared at her young assistant. "You, shut up."
"Chloe, the truth is often the most hurtful, but I have to say it even if you don’t like to hear it."
Chloe Sterling grew even more frustrated.
Riley Perry couldn’t help but laugh out loud. With Chloe Sterling’s personality, only an assistant like Mabel Shaw could keep her in line.
The bus was filled with actors playing minor roles. The big stars usually showed up last, and they had their own private vans anyway; they wouldn’t squeeze onto a bus with everyone else.
They soon arrived at the set. Riley Perry was surprised to see Talia White the moment she stepped off the bus.
After asking around, she learned that Talia hadn’t gotten the fifth female lead role—she had landed the second female lead instead.
It seemed that either Jordan Joyce had pulled some strings, or Talia White was just very lucky.
But none of that had anything to do with her. The second female lead and her character, the fifth female lead, didn’t have many scenes together. Besides, now that Talia White had been upgraded from the fifth to the second lead, she probably wouldn’t come looking for trouble.
