Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 30: Shannon Sutton Wraps
Riley Perry didn’t know what Justin Locke had done for her yet. After a night’s sleep, she threw herself back into filming the next day.
The next two days of filming went smoothly. Although Raymond Warren still showed up in front of Riley Perry to make his presence felt, he kept a respectful distance. It seemed he’d received new instructions.
After filming the scene where Shannon Sutton, Riley Perry’s character, is killed by an enemy’s bullet, Riley officially wrapped her part in the movie.
Director Quinn handed Riley Perry a red envelope. "Keep up the good work. I hope we can work together again in the future."
Riley Perry accepted the envelope cheerfully and thanked him. "Thank you, Director Quinn. Oh, by the way, I prepared a small gift for you. You absolutely have to accept it."
She tucked the red envelope into her purse, then took a plain-looking white plastic bag from Rhona and stuffed it into Director Quinn’s hands.
When she first joined the cast, she hadn’t given gifts to any of the other actors. After all, she was just a D-list nobody; she was afraid that if she did anything rash, people would accuse her of trying to curry favor.
Now that she was leaving, she gave a small gift to each of the actors she’d gotten along with. Rhona had carefully selected all the gifts, except for Director Quinn’s, which Riley had prepared herself.
It was Spiritual Tea from The Cultivation Realm. Not only did it refresh the mind, but it could also improve one’s physical constitution—perfect for a middle-aged man like Director Quinn.
Director Quinn was speechless. ’Where’s the "specially prepared" part? The gifts you just gave Chloe Sterling and the others were packaged better than this. At least they weren’t in a plastic bag!’
Grumbling internally, he still took the bag and glanced inside. Tsk. Inside was a paper packet—the kind used for ordinary tea leaves.
But as he opened the paper packet, a fresh, fragrant tea aroma wafted out, and Seth Quinn felt his mind instantly clear.
"Tea leaves?" He had already subconsciously sealed the bag again. "Oh, you kid... one smell and you can tell this tea is extraordinary. You could have at least put it in a glass jar."
’All the aroma is escaping!’
Riley Perry gave a cheeky smile. "Well, I couldn’t find one. You can find one yourself, Director Quinn."
Director Quinn was already telling his assistant to find a container for the tea. He didn’t have many hobbies besides drinking tea; on set, a cup was never far from his hand. But oddly enough, no actor leaving his set had ever given him tea before. ’Could it be I haven’t been obvious enough about my love for it?’
He had to admit, Riley Perry’s gift was perfect. The crucial thing was, he knew it was the absolute best without even taking a sip.
"Alright. Don’t forget to make a post about wrapping up your role. I’ll go like it later."
Riley Perry made an OK sign, then posted one of her character’s promotional photos with the caption: "Together, we are a fire; scattered, a sky full of stars. In darkness, we yearn for the dawn."
I am Shannon Sutton! 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
I’ve officially wrapped!
As expected, the haters descended in seconds. Seriously, their dedication to Riley Perry was a form of true love.
The slightest activity on her social media, and the haters would appear instantly. She didn’t even have to look to know what they were saying.
It would be an endless stream of comments about her having no acting skills and ruining the character.
So, she put her phone away right after posting. "Director, I’m heading out! Let’s get a meal together sometime!"
Director Quinn thought to himself, ’Heading out where? The casts of *Starfire* and *Immortal Demon Tribulation* are staying in the same hotel. The new role you just took is with the production next door. You’re barely taking a few steps. We could see each other every day if we wanted to.’
Riley Perry said her goodbyes to Chloe Sterling and a few others before grabbing her things and heading back to the hotel.
In a corner of the set, Raymond Warren watched Riley Perry’s retreating figure with a dark expression. Three days wasn’t a long time, but despite trying every possible opportunity, they hadn’t managed to get a single intimate photo of the two of them. They couldn’t even start a romance scandal if they wanted to.
He’d already chewed out his assistant several times, but it was completely useless.
Riley Perry was too vigilant; she never gave him a chance to get close to her alone.
’Fuck, if I wasn’t afraid of the consequences, I’d just have someone kidnap her!’
Holly Summers, who had just finished a job and returned to Dragonspire to rest, saw Riley Perry’s new post about wrapping her role and was so angry she nearly smashed her phone. ’That damn little bitch! She secretly joined a cast—Director Quinn’s cast, no less—and didn’t even tell me the last time we met! Does she even consider me a friend?’
However, after she read the comments under the post, her mood was miraculously soothed. As always, it was full of hate comments. When a few stray comments praising Riley’s beauty popped up, Holly couldn’t resist switching to her alternate account and start flaming the people who complimented Riley’s looks.
Riley Perry was oblivious to Holly Summers’s resentment. It was rare for her to be back at the hotel before nine, so she called Rhona to her room.
"Ria, did you have something you wanted to talk to me about?"
Riley Perry: "I do, actually. I’m planning to send that weight-loss pill you took for analysis and apply for a patent. If possible, I want to turn the formula into cash.
"I was originally going to handle it myself after I finished filming *Starfire*, but I’m joining a new production tomorrow, and who knows when I’ll be done with that..."
"I can handle the paperwork! And the monetization part, too. If you trust me, Ria, you can leave it all to me."
’She remembered her family owned shares in a pharmaceutical company. Others might not understand how effective this weight-loss pill was, but she knew it perfectly. A project this profitable had to be scooped up for her own family!’
Riley Perry smiled like a sly fox. "Rhona, are you sure? In that case, I’ll leave everything to you!"
Rhona thumped her chest. "Mhm, mhm, no problem! You can rest easy and leave it to me. I guarantee I’ll get it done right."
After making her promise, she pulled out her phone and called her dad, not even trying to hide it from Riley Perry.
"Dad, I need to talk to you."
On the other end, Franklin Lee was a bit stunned. Ever since his daughter had run away from home after getting angry with her brother, she almost never called. If it weren’t for the occasional charges on the black card he’d gotten for her, he would have been worried sick long ago.
This seemed to be the first time she’d called him in half a year.
"Sweetheart, are you getting bullied out there? Or are you short on money? Just say the word, and Dad will take care of everything for you!"
"I’m not being bullied, and I don’t need money. This time... I want a company!"
Franklin Lee’s weathered face instantly broke into a wide smile. "My girl is really going places! Are you planning on becoming a CEO? You name it, which company do you want? Dad will sign it over to you. Your brother’s a disappointment anyway, so the family business will end up in your hands sooner or later."
Rhona said, "Dad, I remember our family has shares in a pharmaceutical company. I need you to buy out the entire company for me. I have a use for it. And while you’re at it, you’ll need to help me staff it properly, or I’m afraid I’ll run it into the ground."
Franklin Lee was the type of father who, if his daughter asked for the stars, would move heaven and earth to get them. "Okay, okay, okay! I’ll have the company’s vice president help you out. But it’ll take some time to buy back all the company’s shares. I’ll have someone notify you when it’s done."
Rhona was thrilled. "Thanks, Dad! Once the company starts making money, I’ll get you a huge gift!"
"Heh, I’ll be waiting for it."
After the call ended, Rhona gave Riley Perry an OK sign. "All set!"
