Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 39: Get Lost
The agent grew frantic. "Mr. Locke, please! Name your price, just don’t give it to anyone else. It hasn’t been easy for our Raymond to get this far. Please don’t ruin the kid’s future."
Justin Locke really wanted to ask him, ’A twenty-seven-year-old kid?’
Of course, the kid had shaved four years off his age when he debuted. His official online profile now listed him as only twenty-three, but even at twenty-three, he was hardly a kid!
Justin Locke couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him and stated his price directly. "Ten million."
"Mr. Locke, look... can’t you go a little lower? Ten million is... a bit much."
"It’s a video of him and Miles Ford. I suggest you ask your artist for his opinion."
The agent’s heart sank. At first, he’d assumed Raymond Warren had been caught messing around with some fan again. But as it turned out, this top paparazzo was talking about a video with Miles Ford. Miles Ford was a veteran in the industry, and his own artist had no connection with him. What could possibly have happened between them?
"Okay, I’ll ask him right away. I’ll call you right back."
When Raymond Warren heard his agent mention the video with Miles Ford, he completely broke down. "Whatever it costs, you have to buy that video."
"No, I have to go myself. I won’t feel right unless I’m there to see it through."
The agent was baffled. ’What’s the big deal? Why is he so worked up about it?’
But in the end, he agreed.
"Mr. Locke, we’ll pay! Let’s set up a place to meet."
After hanging up, Justin Locke broke into a satisfied smile. Raymond Warren... he was the young master of the Dragonspire Warren Family, after all. That ten million wasn’t a number he had just pulled out of thin air.
’Asking for any less would be an insult to the young master’s status!’
...
Around eleven o’clock, Felix Sherman finished his scene for the day and quickly changed out of his costume, ready to head back to the hotel. Riley Perry was incredibly envious.
At this rate, she’d probably be stuck on set for another month before she could wrap.
Ever since Miles Ford had come back, he hadn’t been able to give her those obviously lecherous looks anymore. After all, he was... having performance issues. All he wanted was to get his "function" fixed; he had no mental energy left for women.
Her phone rang during the lunch break. She glanced at the screen and saw it was a call from the "missing person."
A smile played on her lips. She let the phone ring for a good while before finally answering. "Mr. Sinclair~"
Hearing his little canary’s sultry, slightly sexy voice again after several days, Cole Sinclair felt a tickle in his ear, and his heart skipped a beat. "Yes. Where are you?"
Riley Perry’s voice was soft and sweet. "Still at the studio."
His Adam’s apple bobbed. Holding the phone in one hand, he yanked at his tie with the other. "When are you coming back?"
Riley replied, "What’s this? Is Mr. Sinclair missing me? But what can I do? I won’t be able to come back anytime soon."
Cole Sinclair suspected his little mistress was flirting with him. He was also discovering for the first time that merely hearing a woman’s voice could make him burn with impatience.
’And another thing,’ he thought, ’I remember the contract states she must be available on call. From the sound of it, she has no intention of coming back, does she? She really needs to be taught a lesson!’
"Take a leave of absence."
Riley asked, "What?"
Cole Sinclair stated matter-of-factly, "I said, take a leave. Or better yet, just quit the movie. It’s not like I can’t support you!"
Riley Perry suddenly sneered. "Get lost!"
The line went dead.
The man on the other end of the line stared at his dark screen, panting with rage. In the front seat, the driver and Henry Hayes were so frightened they barely dared to breathe.
At that moment, they cursed their own excellent hearing. Even though the CEO hadn’t used the speakerphone, the car was so silent that they had heard that sharp retort—"Get lost!"—loud and clear.
"Am I spoiling her too much, Henry Hayes?"
Henry Hayes: ...
Fortunately, Cole Sinclair didn’t actually want a response. It was the first time in his life anyone had told him to "get lost," and it had to be his own kept mistress.
’Just great. Really, truly great!’
"Back to the office!" He had originally planned to go back to his apartment, but since there was no one there, what was the point?
After hanging up, Riley Perry’s expression remained unchanged as she went back to reading her script. She hadn’t noticed that while she was on the phone, someone had passed by and lingered for a moment.
When filming resumed that afternoon, she noticed that Samuel Hughes, who had been treating her quite well for the past few days, had suddenly grown much colder.
Before, they had at least managed to stay out of each other’s way. Now, he was giving her the cold shoulder outright.
Riley Perry really wanted to ask, ’Best Actor Hughes, did I do something to offend you? Oh, right. I guess I actually did.’
’But it didn’t matter,’ she thought. ’We’re colleagues for now, at best. Once the movie’s done, we’ll all go our separate ways. Some of us might never cross paths again.’
...
Back at the hotel early, Riley Perry washed up and, for a change, opened her laptop. She had previously tested the waters of the stock market with five million, randomly buying five different stocks. Every single one had risen. When she felt it was about time to sell, she sold them off one by one. As it turned out, the moment she sold her shares, those stocks began to plummet. One even hit its daily trading limit on the way down for two days straight.
She used her earnings to try this two more times, always making short-term trades. It seemed that every time she bought a stock, it would start to rise, and as soon as she sold, it would fall again. After this happened a total of three times, she understood: she must have some kind of incredible aura.
Back in The Cultivation Realm, her luck had been exceptionally good. She had a keen sense for danger, and whenever she explored The Veil, the best treasures always ended up in her hands. This innate intuition allowed her to avoid countless perils and advance at a blistering pace. At just over three hundred years old, she had nearly reached the Divinity Transformation stage.
She never expected that after returning to her original world, this good luck would still be with her.
Her Spiritual Power had diminished upon her return, but her luck seemed even stronger than before.
So, she had previously taken all the money she’d earned from the dark web and bought three stocks using ten-to-one leverage, making a massive profit.
Seeing all that money in her stock account made her happy. And when she was happy, she liked to sneak out for some good food. She called for Rocco, and of course, she didn’t forget about Chloe Sterling, who was staying in the same hotel. When she dialed the girl’s number, she could tell she wasn’t asleep yet. "Chloe, want to go out for some barbecue?"
Chloe Sterling ripped the expensive mask off her face and scrambled out of bed. "Yes, yes, yes! I’ve been craving something for days. I’ve already lost a few pounds, and my face has gotten thinner, but Ms. Shaw is still keeping me on such a tight leash."
"While you’re at it, can you ask Summer and Tanya if they want to come too?"
"Okay, okay, I’ll call them now! Wait for me, I need to change and wash my face."
"No problem, take your time. I’ll go find a good barbecue spot and get in touch then."
As for Flora, Riley decided not to call her. Apparently, her ex-husband had shown up, so it was best not to disturb them. She didn’t want to get on Flora’s bad side.
Not far from The Sovereign Hotel was a street lined with food stalls. It was the middle of summer, so even though it was past ten o’clock, the street was still crowded. The moment she set foot on it, she was hit by a wave of rich, delicious smells. Riley Perry followed the aroma with Rocco, eventually finding a barbecue stand.
"Welcome, please come in."
