Power of Runes-Chapter 379: Abyssal Eternal Supreme
"To think the Supremes would lower themselves to interfere in such low level battles... My eyes must be betraying me..."
His voice, filled with open contempt, echoed across the land and reached every being present. The moment those words were spoken, the air itself felt heavier.
Everyone froze, their bodies reacting before their minds could even process what had happened.
"Oh dear, you are evading the place of my origin from a back door. Shouldn’t I at least put some effort to lock that backdoor, to prevent some illegal entry."
-CRACK!!!!
The ground cracked violently, as if something deep beneath it had snapped. The cracks spread rapidly in all directions like veins, and moments later, molten lava erupted from within them. Heat surged upward, scorching the air and turning the land unstable.
All the normal Celestials of the Transcendent Circle reacted instantly, using their power as delicately as possible so they would not damage the world further. However, the voice of the Transcendent Eternal Supremes had already disrupted their control. Their powers wavered, their balance shaken, and the world continued to destabilize with each passing moment.
It was already on the path of destruction, and nothing could completely stop it anymore.
The only thing that could be done was to delay the outcome. Understanding this, most of the normal Celestials redirected the majority of their power toward blocking all the senses of the Mortals below them.
Just hearing the voice of an Eternal Supreme was enough to kill them instantly and extinguish their mortal souls without leaving even a trace.
Although the mortals were protected, the same could not be said about the Devil and everyone else present there.
The Devil, who stood at Infernal Rank, the same rank as Celestials among Angels and other races, bore the full weight of the voice directly.
Blood flowed freely from his body as the pressure crushed down on him, tearing at his flesh and shaking his very core.
Yet he did not fall. He remained standing, unmoving, and a faint smile slowly formed on his face.
As if responding to that smile, the darkness behind him shimmered once more. While the weaker Abyssals present were frozen in place by the overwhelming power behind the Eternal Supreme’s voice, the same could not be said about the new entries.
Around ten beings stepped out of the gates at the same time. Each had a different body structure and belonged to a different race. Among them were Fallen Angels, Hollow Lords, Cursed Ones, an Undead King, Abyss Elves, and several other notable races of the Abyss.
They paused for a brief moment, observing their surroundings carefully. At first, confusion crossed their faces. Although they understood most of what was happening, there were still things they could not fully grasp, details that did not quite make sense to them...
Before they could think further or exchange even a single word, they heard a voice.....and instinctively understood everything.
"Tsk, more of these unholy things are stepping out."
The displeased voice of the Heavenly Eternal Supreme struck them like a physical force. Even the new arrivals staggered where they stood, their bodies reacting instinctively as the pressure washed over them.
Many felt the urge to curse out loud, but none dared to do so. The Abyssals could clearly feel it now.
They had stepped directly into the games of the Supremes, and being utterly played with by such beings was far from a pleasant experience.
Blood flowed from the bodies of the Fallen ones, staining the ground beneath them. This time, however, the Angels and the members of the Transcendent Circle were less affected.
The Eternal Supreme had willed it so, and that alone was enough to decide the outcome. Although completely erasing the power behind his voice was difficult, the difference between what the Abyssals endured and what the others felt was vast.
Some of the physically weaker ones were forced to kneel under the pressure, their bodies unable to endure it any longer. It was not due to weakness or failure. It was simply the suppression one felt when standing before a far higher ranked existence.
But the very next second, the pressure, the pain, and the crushing suppression they were feeling vanished without leaving even a trace.
And a familiar aura spread across the battlefield and gently wrapped around them. Before anyone could even understand what had happened, all the Abyssals suddenly fell to their knees in respect, their thoughts going blank as they forgot everything else.
The battlefield, which had been steadily turning in favor of the Heavens and the mortals, took a drastic turn in an instant.
And next second, screams of Angels and members of the Transcendent Circle echoed across the world, filling the skies with panic and terror.
-NOOOO!!!!!!
-ARGHH!!!!!
-MY EYEESSS!!!!!!!!!
Many clawed at their own eyes as they burst apart under unbearable pain of seeing something they should not have.
Several weaker ones died without offering even the slightest resistance, their bodies collapsing lifelessly. Others were thrown into a dazed state, their minds breaking apart as their thoughts spiraled out of control.
All of this happened because a single, small tentacle slowly emerged from the Abyssal Gates.
It was the flesh of the Abyssal Eternal Supreme.
The reason Eternal Supremes never appear directly before others was exactly this. Their presence alone was enough to force everyone to face the same situation they were experiencing right now. Even without revealing their full form, the aura of their true body was sufficient to kill weaker beings.
Their bodies were filled with nothing but the laws of existence, the secrets of the universe, and the weight of cosmic will itself. Those who were weaker were simply not qualified to witness such things, let alone understand them. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Knowledge is power, indeed.
But an even truer statement would be that knowledge is a curse.
Once something is learned, it cannot be unlearned.
Unless one erases the memory of it entirely.
And that was exactly what happened next.

A/N: The Chapter is short, I know. My eyes are literally dropping while writing this, so I will increase the word count of tomorrow’s Chapters. Believe me, in the next two Chapters I will wrap up this arc of their conversation and then move on to Ash’s POV.
