104 Power Couple

“What’s the next thing you plan on doing now?” Qin Yichen asked as he placed several dishes on their table. After forcing her to go to bed early last night, he had woken up early to make them breakfast.

“I plan to meet with Xu Ning today, hopefully, her uncle would step out and clear her innocence. However, I can’t ask her what she knows since it would make her untrusting towards me so....”

Qin Yichen nodded in understanding, he didn’t need her to complete her words to know that she would go about things in a roundabout manner.

“I have an important meeting this morning but I’ll send a team of guards with you incase she’s being followed,”

Rong Yue nodded in understanding, after all, she hadn’t even expected that he would accompany her all through yesterday.

And since she was going to be on a disguise, going out with some guards was already enough also.

The both of them made small talks while they ate and Rong Yue finally asked what was bothering her, “why do you live alone in such a desolate place? Do you hate being around people?”

Qin Yichen looked at her two eyes that were twinkling with gossip, leaned in and then flicked her forehead slightly, “you are starting to behave like some nosy brat that barges in every time to disturb my peace...”

“....it’s easier to avoid a lot of families including mine by staying here,” he added right after and Rong Yue nodded in understanding.

“My family is the third branch, and I have two siblings, my brother is in the military and manages the man power that we both built while my younger brother is just about your age,” Qin Yichen could already guess that she wanted to know his family so he laid it all out for her.

“Okay...” Rong Yue wondered how it felt having siblings and being in the middle but she said nothing, from his tone, it was not hard to see that he had a good relationship with his family. But he also seemed to have been attacked by his family back then....

Sometimes, rich families looked dazzling and impressive from afar but when you are near, half of it is even more rotten than the average family.

“Eat up, I’ll get some men to arrange your meeting with her now,” feeling uncomfortable under her concerned stare, Qin Yichen sent her focus back to food while he stood up to make some calls.

As for Rong Yue, she ate as much as she could and only stopped when her phone rang for the third time.

“Rong Yue, Song Jian said you went to the capital. Would you be missing the competition? It’s starting tomorrow!” Wu Hao’s worried voice rang out from the other end of the call.

With all of the running around to help Xu Ning, Rong Yue had completely forgotten that she had some competition exam tomorrow. Wu Hao’s words was the one that just made her return to her senses.

“I’ll be there tomorrow,” she promised and then hung up the phone as she tried to think of what to do.

She still needed to meet up with Xu Ning and then start dealing with the Hong Foundation so that they never exist again to traffic children.

“I have to go back tomorrow, the preliminaries for the Stellar Competition starts tomorrow and I’m going to be representing my school,” Rong Yue told Qin Yichen as he stepped into the dining room again.

“Meet with Xu Ning, there’s no need to deal with the other matters personally, as soon as her name is cleared, you can keep her beside you, her skills her one of the best three in China....

“...as for her uncle, he would have to go to jail for all that he has done.. those three children would become her responsibility, however, considering that she wants to protect them so much also, she might not mind as much as a girl her age would,” Qin Yichen calmly analyzed everything to her as she sat down back.

Rong Yue allowed her mind to think through everything and eventually nodded.

“Okay, I’ll meet her today and handle the other matters like you have said.” As for offering Xu Ning a job, that was indeed something she was considering but she couldn’t directly offer her without winning her trust.

After breakfast, she went out and the driver Qin Yichen had assigned her to carried her to the designated meeting spot.

Since Qin Yichen had picked a place that she was closer to, she ended up waiting in the car for a while before Xu Ning finally arrived.

When she sat down opposite Xu Ning, her brows arched in confusion as she looked around.

“I’m the one you are waiting for, Miss Xu,” she said calmly.

Xu Ning looked at her, her expression was full of doubt and suspicion, after all, the girl in front of her looked like she should still be at home playing dress up and attending sleep over with some other heiress friends.

“As long as I can help you, my age should not stand between us,”

Xu Ning studied her for some seconds and then nodded.

“Where are the kids?” It was clear to see that it was priority to her.

“My uncle would try to find them, it’s only if he can’t that he can agree to give up,” Xu Ning warned.

“He would get a copy of tomorrow’s headlines today if he doesn’t step out to clarify your name, at that point, the least of his worries would be finding the kids,” Rong Yue said with a chuckle.

“Until this matter is resolved, this is going to be the only time that you meet me,”

“You don’t want to be seen with me?” Xu Ning asked with a little worry, although they had just met, she had started to see Rong Yue as the only thing she could hold on too.

After they separated, Rong Yue entered the car that was waiting outside.

“How are you here?”

“I finished my meeting early and came as soon as I was done,” he replied and then pulled her in to his embrace.

“How did it go, did she agree to your plans?”

“Yes, she was a little worried but she finally agreed..”

The both of them chatted for a while before Qin Yichen went back to working while Rong Yue allowed her mind to wander
