94 The Black Market

Since she knew that with the aid of the system, she could easily see through things, she wanted to test it on the stones. If it worked, it was going to make things easy for her while for her competitors, they might try to trace things from that point on.

With that thought, she decided that not going as herself was the best option.

Lu San nodded in understanding, started the car and drove in the direction of the black market.

By this time of the day, the black market was at its peak and from just standing at the entrance, Rong Yue already felt alive.

She hurriedly bought a bunch of meat sticks that she saw being roasted on open fire through some mesh and ate as she walked.

Although she hadn’t been to a night market before, with the little Loli system, she had been able to gather a lot of information that one could only get by coming here.

“I’ll like to get some things here first, you can help me take them to the car after,” Rong Yue whispered to Lu San and then stopped by a stall.

Usually, most of these stalls sold really good imitation of goods and one had to be sharp to know if they were buying the high imitation at an high price or bad imitation at a low price.

There was however, also some that claimed they were selling quality and would usually just sell something else. With this record, most of the things in the black market had quickly become a game of luck.

.....

As soon as she found a stall that had some of the things she liked, painting tools, Rong Yue waited there and looked through his things,

“Young Lady, are you a painter, this brush is from the Feng dynasty and has one of the best brushes for you to paint.” The stall owner said with a smile that exposed his already brown teeth.

Rong Yue nodded and said nothing but in reality, she was already comparing all the items that she found attractive with the system to know which were good or not.

One had to know that, things in the ancient time had even more quality and spirit to them for items that didn’t include technology.

She just wanted something that would stand out amongst all others.

“The calligraphy set over there has passed the check and is seen to be from the Han dynasty,” the little system rang out, Rong Yue looked at the set that didn’t seem old and haggard and then looked at another item, a tactic that she was employing to not let the stall owner know the item she wanted.

“I’ll take this, this and this,” Rong Yue announced, picking three items on a random and placing them aside.

“You have a good eye, that bracelet that you have picked is from the Qin dynasty,” the man said with a calculating smile.

“It’s an imitation from the Sui dynasty, you should do your research before you try to sell,” she scolded and then off handedly added the calligraphy set to the pile of items she had picked.

Seeing that she was someone that knew her thing, the man was able to read the lack of excitement from her stance and face and didn’t bother to cut corners anymore.

Instead he sold them only at the price he had set as a base price for his own profit.

After buying, Rong Yue also paid and left the stall.

Since her main focus was the stones and she already had one ancient calligraphy pen from this, she didn’t want to waste anymore time.

“What you have bought is not a lot, I can just hold on to them and follow you to the stone gambling stores, they are around that end,” Lu San spoke up before she could send him off.

Since his master had asked him to watch her, a place like this was the last place he should leave her alone and even though he had a suspicion that she was trying to shake him off, he was also shameless enough to ignore it.

The stone gambling stores were towards the end of the black market and more importantly, it had the busiest part as this was what some people lived their lives on. If they bought a stone at a cheap price and saw some good jade in it, they would sell it off at a price that was most times ten times what they had bought the stone itself.

The profit also depended on the quality and type of stone they found and some people had over the years had made a big fortune out of stone gambling.

However, even though it had an upside like that, it also had the downside of being addictive and some people would eventually ruin their lives by hoping to find some stone that had a rare Jade inside it.

In the end, it was like a two edged sword.

Rong Yue looked at the stalls and decided to pick the one with the least crowd.

If she picked the one that had all that crowd, she would have to struggle to pick what she wanted.

However, she also kept it at the back of her mind that if the store had no good stone, she would eventually have to try another store.

In total, there were about six stone gambling stores in this black market which gave her more than enough chance to have her options.

“Let’s go to that one,” she told Lu San, heading forward without waiting for him.

Just before she could enter the store, a middle aged man blocked her path with a fawning and cunny smile.

“Young lady, this store hasn’t opened any Jade in close to eight months, you can say that they have taken all of their good stones away and just want us to buy the scrap they have dumped, if you know what’s good for you, leave there and come over to the store there, we have really good raw stones that would guarantee you a good Jade,” the middle aged man said and then pointed to a crowded shop that was opposite them.

“Hmm, I’m here for something else, entirely,” Rong Yue said dismissively and then walked forward to go inside the store she was going before.
