President's Daughter's Bodyguard-Chapter 128: Forever, Mr. And Mrs. Hale
Chapter 128: Forever, Mr. And Mrs. Hale
When they were back to the military station, Theo had only one thing on his mind-marriage.
However, due to their situation, there was no cathedral or a huge crowd, and no cameras waiting to turn something sacred into a spectacle.
The only thing that cheered for them was Theo’s military base tucked between stone hills and open sky, quiet in the way places .
It carried a warm and gentle energy, like discipline and silence, but that morning it also showed something better.
Danielle stood in a small white room with tall windows and nothing decorative on the walls.
No mirrors except one and no flowers except a single white rose placed on the table by someone who clearly did not know much about weddings but understood intention.
She wore satin silk...how quickly Theo managed to get her a dress even impressed the generals.
Dani’s dress moved like water when she breathed, it was so smooth and pale, simple in design but devastatingly elegant.
Yes, it had no lace or veil. Just fabric that reflected light and made her feel real again after so much blood and fire.
The straps rested on her shoulders like a promise she could finally keep.
Her hair was loose, and not styled, and it was just brushed back and left alone.
Danielle looked at herself once, but it wasn’t to check if she was perfect.
But to make sure she was still herself.
She was...
Outside, Theo waited.
He waited in uniform, stripped of medals, stripped of symbols, stripped of everything that connected him to war.
The jacket was fitted, and the lines were severe. But his hands shook slightly at his sides, and there was nothing sharp about his face anymore.
Only devotion and beautiful relief.
To Theo, it felt like a short horror movie like some desire for something so deeply it could destroy him if it vanished again.
But this bodyguard was ready to survive it...no matter what-for her.
Aidan was just a few steps away, not as a commander, not as a protector, but as a witness. Around them, a handful of soldiers formed a respectful distance.
No salutes or announcements were given since the presence was enough.
When Danielle stepped outside, the base seemed to inhale with her.
Theo turned around to see her immediately.
And for a moment, he forgot every language he had.
She walked toward him slowly. The dress caught the light with every step. Her bare hands were not even shaky and her eyes never left his.
Theo swallowed once. Then again.
He did not smile right away.
He just looked at her like she was something sacred he was afraid to touch.
When she stopped in front of him, close enough that their breath mingled, he finally exhaled.
"There you are," he said softly.
Danielle smiled. Not wide. Not dramatic. Just enough. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"I almost didn’t come," she answered gently.
His eyes darkened with concern.
She lifted her hand and touched his chest, right over his heart. "I am joking."
He let out a breath that almost laughed, almost broke.
They turned together.
There was no priest or scripture, and no decree.
Just a simple oath authorized under emergency provisions and witnessed by authority that had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with survival.
They faced each other.
Theo spoke first.
"I thought love was a weakness," he spoke calmly. "Something that softened men until they were useless. I was wrong. It did not make me weaker. It made me impossible to stop."
Danielle’s throat tightened, but she stayed standing.
"I thought safety was a place," she replied. "A country. A title. A house with locked doors. I was wrong. It was you. Even when everything burned around me."
Theo took her hands. His gloves were off. His skin felt warm.
"I wanted a future," he continued. "Then I wanted revenge. Then I wanted control. And somehow all of that fell away when I thought I lost you. The only thing I want now is to stand next to you and never let the world take what it does not deserve."
Danielle stepped closer.
"I choose you," she muttered gently. "Not because you saved me, but because you see me. And because you stayed when running would have been easier."
Silence followed, but it wasn’t caused by emptiness...what a completion.
The authorization was read. The confirmation spoken.
They were pronounced married with no echo, no applause.
Theo didn’t even wait.
He cupped Danielle’s face with both hands and rested his forehead against hers. His eyes closed like the world had finally stopped chasing him.
When he kissed her, it was slow and careful, avoiding hunger and desperation.
So certain...
The soldiers turned away without being told.
Aidan looked at the horizon and smiled to himself.
Later, there was no reception or music or toast.
Only a quiet room prepared inside the base, and a table. Food that went untouched. Two glasses of champagne that he brought in with him.
Theo removed his jacket and placed it over the back of a chair. Danielle slipped her shoes off and laughed softly at the sound they made hitting the floor.
They sat together on the edge of the bed.
For a moment, neither dared to say anything until Theo reached for her hand.
"I still want you to change your mind," she murmured.
He looked at her, confused.
"About what?"
"About marrying me...don’t regret this later."
"I would marry you again tomorrow," his lips formed a bright smile. "And the day after. And in every country that tries to take you from me."
She leaned into him.
Outside, the base returned to its rhythm and probably a new strategy.
But inside, something ended and something began.
That evening, Danielle couldn’t stop without counting breaths.
Theo stayed without fear of waking to silence.
They didn’t know what waited beyond the gates.
They only knew they would walk into it together.
And that was enough for both of them...
"Even if I have to die, Theo...you must live a long and beautiful life."
