Chapter 74: The Roaring Titan

Sam stood silently, his eyes locked onto the massive figure ahead of him.

The [Roaring Titan] towered over everything, an enormous, looming shadow cast against the sky.

Just looking at it, Sam could tell that it lived up to its name. It wasn’t just some fancy title or exaggerated warning. No, this thing was a true titan.

Even without its horrifying appearance, Sam guessed it stood at least 200 meters tall.

Its size alone was already enough to shake the battlefield with every movement, but Sam could feel it wasn’t just big, it was powerful.

This was the strongest enemy he had faced so far.

Size didn’t always mean strength, especially in this world. But this one... this one felt different. It wasn’t bluffing. It wouldn’t go down easily. That much was obvious.

The four-pointed star, the [Titan’s Mark], glowed ominously on the center of the creature’s head, pulsing with blinding light.

Its entire body was covered in black, with swirling violet veins glowing beneath its dark skin.

Long, unnatural tendrils writhed and coiled around its body like they were alive, feeding power into its limbs.

ROOOOOARRRRR!

The titan let out another roar, so loud the very air around them vibrated.

Sam clenched his jaw and glanced at the panel that appeared before him. freewebnσvel.cøm

[Roaring Titan (Layer Boss)]

[Level: 40]

[Description: The third Forsaken Lord, a titan that doesn’t back away from anything. Its sheer size makes it difficult to even harm it.]

[Hell-Mode Analysis: The star seems to power its form. It’s in our way.]

"Tch. Wish you could give me more info," Sam muttered as he shifted into a battle stance. "Would be nice if I could actually see their skills one day..."

From above, the titan laughed. A deep, thunderous sound that echoed across the entire plain.

"Truly fascinating," it said, its voice booming, "Even while facing inevitable defeat, you still struggle. Still pretending that you can win."

Sam didn’t dignify it with a response.

He just rolled his eyes and activated one of his [Class Skills], the one he had yet to use in a real fight against a Forsaken Lord.

Void Watcher!

His pupils shifted into slits, glowing faintly silver. He stared directly at the titan’s core.

[Void Watcher: He hates you enough to sacrifice himself if it meant for you to disappear. The others do as well. The prophecy cannot be fulfilled, no matter what.]

Sam’s expression tightened.

This wasn’t the first time a [Forsaken Lord] had said something cryptic.

Each of them always hinted at a bigger picture, something he hadn’t fully understood yet. But this?

This was the clearest piece of information he’d gotten so far.

’There’s a prophecy... and they’ll do anything to stop it?’

He didn’t understand it all yet, but something deep inside him wanted to know more.

The moment they spoke of "his kind," of "Primordials," something always stirred inside his chest.

But he didn’t have time to dwell on that.

BOOM!

Without warning, the titan swung one of its arms, massive, clawed, and larger than a house, straight toward Sam.

Despite the titan’s size, it was fast. Really fast.

The swing tore through the air like a missile. The impact could’ve flattened a building.

Against any normal opponent, hell, even most awakeners, it would’ve been instant death.

But Sam didn’t move.

The blow landed directly on him, creating a shockwave that tore through the ground.

[Eternal Barrier: 48/50]

The attack didn’t even push him back. The barrier held firm.

Beside him, the [Forsaken Clone] remained motionless as well, waiting for Sam’s command, its red eyes quietly burning with anticipation.

"Interesting," the titan muttered, its gaze narrowing. "That barrier of yours... It doesn’t respond to strength or pressure. It ignores power. I see. Then... your end is guaranteed."

Sam still said nothing.

The titan had no weapon, just its body. Massive arms, deadly claws, and terrifying weight. It didn’t need anything else.

But Sam’s gaze was fixed on that glowing star, the [Titan’s Mark].

He knew. He knew that was the key. That mark was the weak point. The problem was... getting there.

"Go," Sam finally commanded, pointing forward.

Instantly, the [Forsaken Clone] responded. Its crimson eyes flared, and it dashed forward, moving so fast it blurred.

"Foolish," the titan snarled, raising one of its huge legs and slamming it down.

The clone dodged, leaping up the leg and swinging its sword down toward the knee.

Clang!

The sword bounced off.

For the first time, the [Primordial Sword] had failed to cut through an enemy by direct contact.

"You cannot harm me, Primordial," the titan declared. Its mark flared as it delivered a brutal kick, sending the clone crashing back. "This is an unwinnable battle."

Sam frowned and rushed forward himself, swinging his sword directly at the titan’s ankle.

Clang!

The same result.

Even with full strength behind the blow, the sword merely bounced.

Sam tried again, activating [Tendrils of Oblivion], sending dark tentacles from his blade to bind the titan, but the moment the tendrils touched the titan’s skin, they shattered like glass.

He followed up with [Sovereign Inferno], sending a massive wave of fire... but even the flames seemed to slide off without effect.

It was... invulnerable.

The titan hadn’t even used a skill yet. It didn’t need to. It just kept smashing the ground with its hands and feet, over and over again.

Each attack shook the field and forced Sam and his clone to react.

Five minutes passed like this, relentless, overwhelming pressure.

[Eternal Barrier: 18/50]

[Clone Eternal Barrier: 7/50]

Sam gritted his teeth.

They weren’t making progress.

"You’ve put on a good show," the titan said, clearly amused, "But the game is over. I’ve had my fun. It’s time for the Primordial to die. No matter the cost."

ROOOOOARRRRR!

The titan screamed again, and this time, the [Titan’s Mark] began to glow far brighter than before. A pressure filled the sky.

And then—

Fwish! Fwish! BOOM!

"ROARING STARS!"

Hundreds of tiny stars, each glowing a violent purple, formed above them, twinkling for just a moment before they began to fall. Fast.

"I don’t have many skills," the titan said, laughing, "But the ones I do have... will be enough to destroy you."

Sam’s eyes widened as he looked up. Hundreds of projectiles.

’Shit.’

This was the exact kind of attack [Eternal Barrier] was weakest against.

A single hit? No problem. But hundreds of small, rapid attacks? That could break the barrier in seconds.

"Move!" Sam shouted.

He and the clone each raised their hands, summoning five dark portals apiece. Ten total.

Abyssal Obliteration!

The black holes opened, swirling violently as they began to fire bullets, constructed from each of Sam’s affinities: Shadow, Chaos, and Void.

Each bullet collided with a falling star in midair.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The sky exploded with flashing lights as bullets clashed with projectiles, but some still slipped through.

Sam took his stance, ready to slash down anything that got close.

He’d already taken too many hits. Already tried and failed to pierce the titan’s defense. That meant brute force wasn’t going to win.

He needed something else. He needed an edge.

He didn’t know what it was yet, but he would find it. He always did.

"Your death is near, Primordial!" the titan roared, charging more power, "Even someone like you cannot fight forever!"

But Sam wasn’t afraid.

He just grinned.

"Don’t worry," he said, his voice calm and steady, "I’ll figure it out."

His crimson eyes locked onto the star. The [Titan’s Mark]. Something inside him stirred.

And the moment his eyes focused, the titan... paused. It tensed.

For the first time since the battle began, the [Roaring Titan] felt something strange, a flicker of caution.

Not because Sam was stronger. But because he was something else.

Something twisted. Something beyond understanding. A Primordial.

And the titan knew, it couldn’t afford to let its guard down. Not against him.
