Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 656: The Arrogance of the Opponent (4)_1
"Yo, kid, you're so young, and you're already trying to steal a woman from me!"
"Who says Mommy is yours?" Glades Horne asked, very displeased.
A son was a son, but he couldn't compete with him for Julia. Julia would always belong to him alone.
"Because only I call her 'Mommy,'" Ivan Horne declared with righteous indignation.
Julia casually sat down on the sofa, amusedly watching the father and son who were at loggerheads.
"Daddy, you don't even call Mommy 'Mommy,' so Mommy is mine alone. I want to sleep with Mommy." The following words from Ivan Horne made Julia unable to hold back her chuckle, and she laughed out loud.
Children's words are unfiltered, incredibly amusing.
Glades Horne's eyes widened even more, and his face turned an indiscernible shade of dark.
This kid, he wanted *him* to call Julia 'Mommy'?
"Ivan Horne, turn around, lift your foot, walk away!"
Glades Horne was too lazy to talk nonsense with his son anymore and commanded sternly.
Ivan Horne locked eyes with his father for a couple of minutes, then mumbled, "Poor Mommy, poor me, how did we end up with such a domineering daddy?" With knowledge comes depth in speech.
Little Ivan cast a sympathetic glance at Mommy sitting inside the room, then with a self-pitying look, he turned around, lifted his foot, and walked away.
He was still too young to fight his father; better to admit defeat!
Finally, the little third wheel was chased away. Glades Horne closed the room door with a bang, grumbling, "Kid, you think you can compete with me? You're still green."
"That's your son, your beloved son, you know."
Julia watched in amusement as her husband regarded his son as a rival.
Meeting his wife's pretty face, Glades Horne immediately switched to a tender expression.
He stepped forward, took Julia's hand, pulled her to her feet, and then swept her into his embrace, saying, "During the daytime, he's my son, but at night, he's just a third wheel. Don't expect him to get between us. Julia, let's continue." With that, he picked Julia up and carried her into the inner chamber.
"Julia," he called softly.
"Hmm," Julia responded lazily.
"About Adele... the man I suspect has arrived," Glades Horne suddenly said.
He was telling Julia about Noah Reyes because he was worried about Noah Reyes's ruthlessness, fearing he might use Julia as a target. The whole world knew Julia was his weakness. If Black Emperor Group picked a fight with Valence Group, Noah Reyes would definitely go after his weak spot first.
Julia suddenly looked up. She moved so fast she hit Glades Horne's chin. Her head was hard, and Glades Horne grunted in pain from the impact, but his gaze on her remained incredibly tender.
"He's here? To find Adele?" Julia asked eagerly. Were her sister-in-law's days of suffering finally coming to an end?
Suddenly, she remembered that at dusk, Billy Horne had unexpectedly asked Adele about his daddy. Could it be that Billy Horne had sensed something? It's normal for blood relatives to have a psychic connection.
Glades Horne held her as he thought deeply, a frown forming on his handsome face. He did not answer Julia's question immediately, but after a moment of contemplation, he finally replied, "He is the true owner of the Black Emperor Group, and it's very likely that he is here to confront our Valence Group. According to the information I've obtained, his assistant brings many beautiful women into the Manor every day, but as for why, that's unclear."
"An enemy?"
Julia knit her brows.
The man who took her sister-in-law's innocence is Valence's rival? If this is true, would he admit everything? Back then, could it have been part of his plan? Was her sister-in-law just a pawn in his revenge?
"Consider him an enemy, and a very strong one at that," Glades Horne explained in a low voice. "His true identity is the master of Inferno Sect, a mysterious organization that operates across the Asia-Pacific Region. Back then, we couldn't easily break through his defense system to find Adele, so it was apparent his identity was no simple matter. This afternoon, Ruiz and I went to see him."
"Did you see him? Does he resemble Billy a lot? I mean, does Billy look a lot like him?" Julia wasn't worried about Valence; she believed her man wasn't so easily defeated. Her main concern was her sister-in-law and little Billy's future.
Glades Horne pursed his lips.
"He's very arrogant. He refused to see me."
Moreover, he even used a machine gun to stop me when I tried to force my way into the Manor.
This opponent was not only strong but also incredibly haughty. If Noah Reyes taking Adele's purity was merely the start of his confrontation with me, then I mustn't let Noah Reyes know about Billy's existence.
Julia wanted to say something but didn't know what. Her brows remained tightly furrowed.
The newcomer boded ill, yet he could very well be Billy Horne's biological father. This problem was quite hard to solve.
"Can we definitively find out if he's the same man from back then?"
Glades Horne spoke with a hint of defeat. "If we could have figured it out, I would have exposed him back then. His defense systems aren't something an average person can breach; his security is perhaps the best in the world. Ruiz and I have been investigating for so many years. We only know his name and status, not even what he looks like, let alone anything else. We focused our suspicion on Noah Reyes primarily because of his name, and also because only he would possess such a resilient and robust defense system."
"Then what do we do? When will everything become clear? This evening, Billy asked Adele again when his daddy would be back. He may be small, but he's quite sensitive. No matter how good we are to him, he still longs for his father's love." Thinking of little Billy, Julia's heart ached. Despite being just over three years old, he was incredibly smart and had so many little thoughts that adults like them couldn't fathom.
"Julia, don't worry. Now that he's here, I'll find out sooner or later if he's that man. And if he is—" Glades Horne gritted his teeth. He would definitely not let the man go! "Julia, there's something you must be particularly careful about. If he wants to target Valence, it's highly likely he'll start with you."
Julia felt a chill. Corporate battles could sometimes be ruthless. The companies under her name had all been spun off from Valence Group. Outsiders didn't know that Valence Group no longer intervened in her companies. To target Valence Group, starting with her companies was the most likely scenario.
"Don't worry, I'm here!"
Seeing the sudden gravity in her expression, Glades thought she was afraid, worried. Although she had proven her abilities over the past three years, she hadn't yet experienced a truly brutal corporate battle. Many people in the business world were quite polite to her, largely out of consideration for him.
