His large hand pulled her even tighter, his domineering voice sounding above her head.

"It's been quite dull all these years without a challenging opponent. Meeting one now isn't bad, eh? If he really wants to make a move against me, let him come. I'm not afraid of him."

Julia's words, however, made Glades Horne snort twice. His concern, hmm, seemed a bit superfluous. His beloved wife was practically eager to face a challenging opponent.

"But if Adele and Billy find out he's our opponent, they might be even more upset," Julia continued, her thoughts turning to her sister-in-law.

"We haven't confirmed it's him yet," Glades Horne said softly. At that moment, he hoped the man wasn't Noah Reyes. He was such an arrogant man. If Noah Reyes had indeed taken Adele's chastity, it was very likely a plot.

Julia fell silent again.

Before anything was confirmed, they couldn't say a word.

"Alright, darling, let's not talk about others. Let's sleep," Glades chuckled lightly, bringing the subject back. He hugged her and pulled up the blanket, covering them both.

Outside, in the black of night, a tall, lithe figure was shrouded in darkness, staring at Glades Horne's room with eyes full of resentment.

After staring for about ten minutes, the figure turned and left, quickly vanishing into the night.

The night was silent and still.

「Sometime later, the eastern sky began to lighten.」

The earth awakened once more. A new day had arrived.

「South Hill District, Waterside New Village.」

Alwin Ruiz yawned as she got out of the car. She stood in front of the villa and pressed the doorbell.

The journey from A City to T City took nearly three days and was always exhausting, but she still liked to make the trip whenever she had the chance.

She missed her precious granddaughter too much.

Before Camila was born, Alwin Ruiz had distinctly favored boys over girls, but after Camila's birth, she loved her granddaughter more than anyone else.

She wanted to have Camila with her and raise her granddaughter herself, but Hansen Ruiz and his wife firmly disagreed. Her only recourse was to hope Hansen would bring his daughter back to A City. However, Alwin never mentioned Rachel Bailey, and Hansen had said he wouldn't bring his daughter home unless his mother truly accepted Rachel as her daughter-in-law.

In truth, Alwin Ruiz had long since accepted Rachel Bailey as her daughter-in-law. But back then, she had been too stubborn, declaring that as long as she was around, Rachel Bailey would not be allowed to enter the Ruiz family home. Even though she now desperately wanted her son's family of three to return to the Ruiz estate so she could dote on her grandchild and enjoy her later years in peace, she couldn't bring herself to voice it.

To see her precious granddaughter, her only option was to tirelessly make trips to T City every so often.

At that moment, she truly regretted selling the villa she had owned across from Hansen Ruiz's house.

When the doorbell rang, the servant, who was busy making breakfast, hurried out. Upon seeing it was Alwin Ruiz, the servant's expression tightened slightly before they quickly ran to open the villa's main gate for her.

"Good morning, Madam," the servant said respectfully.

"Has Camila gotten up yet?" Alwin Ruiz asked the servant as she walked inside. She then turned and instructed Floyd Thomas to drive the car into the villa. Its back seat was filled with presents she had bought for Camila.

"I heard some noise upstairs; Miss Camila has probably gotten up by now," the servant replied.

Alwin Ruiz didn't ask further and went straight upstairs after entering the house.

Camila's small room was right next to her parents'. It was decorated in pink, perfect for a little girl, and filled with dolls and other toys she loved.

Camila, just a little over three years old, attended kindergarten. Being a girl, she was inevitably a bit more coddled. In the mornings, she liked to linger in bed, waiting for her parents to coax her to get up.

"Camila, get up quickly, or you'll be late for school," Rachel Bailey said. Yawning, her long hair loose and still in her nightgown, she sat by her daughter's small bed, patiently coaxing the reluctant Camila.

"Mmm..." Camila stalled, her reluctant whine soft and endearing, making it difficult to get angry with her.

"If you don't get up now, Jimmy and Billy will come and tease you again," Rachel Bailey said, somewhat helpless against her daughter's playful defiance. She had to resort to mentioning Billy Horne, Camila's arch-nemesis.

Billy Horne disliked Camila and constantly antagonized her. Camila, in turn, saw him as her mortal enemy and refused to be outdone by him in anything. Whenever she was being difficult or trying to get her way, mentioning Billy was always effective.

Upon hearing this, Camila immediately shot up in bed.

Her adorable little face wore a determined expression that clearly said, I will not give him a chance to laugh at me!

Rachel Bailey secretly chuckled to herself. This tactic always worked.

"Camila, are you up yet?" Alwin Ruiz's gentle voice, accompanied by a knock, came from outside the room.

"Grandma's here!" Camila, who was getting dressed, heard her grandmother's voice, and her face lit up with joy. Forgetting she wasn't fully dressed, she ran to open the door. Rachel Bailey was petite, while Hansen Ruiz was tall. Camila seemed to take after her father more, as even at just over three years old, she was much taller than other girls her age.
