Glades Horne asked in a low voice, his dark eyes burning with some understanding.

Glancing at him and then at the children joyfully heading to the parking lot, Julia said with a nostalgic smile, "Glades, when we were children, you always protected my sister and me, just like Ivan does now. Brother Henry and Harry were the naughtiest and worst as kids. They sometimes bullied me the way Billy bullies Camila, but as long as you were there, I always felt safe."

Their families' friendship is just like hers and Rachel's right now.

Every day, she and her sister would go to the Horne residence to play with the young Horne masters. During their childhood, the twins Henry Horne and Harry Horne loved to pick on those weaker than them. When they reached their teenage years, the Horne young masters cherished and protected the two sisters the most, especially against outsiders. If anyone from the outside world dared to bully them, the young Horne masters would fight fiercely for them.

Looking at the children now, Julia couldn't help but wonder: in the future, might her son and Rachel's daughter end up like Glades and her, eventually becoming husband and wife?

"Our Ivan isn't me." Glades knew his wife's little thoughts all too well.

Although his son was very protective of Camila, he didn't care for her as deeply as Billy Horne did.

Just from this, he could be certain of one thing. Whether now or in the future when they grew up, his son would only love Camila Ruiz as a sister. He would never develop a husband-and-wife relationship with her like he and Julia had.

"Honey," Glades Horne suddenly wrapped his arm around Julia's shoulder, speaking in a husky voice, "if you want a daughter, we could..." No matter how adorable someone else's daughter might be, she still belongs to someone else; only one you have yourself is truly yours.

"What if it's another boy? Forget it. I'd rather just dote on Camila," Julia giggled.

Glades Horne chuckled. Since they had reached the car and Ivan was right in front of them, Glades tactfully refrained from discussing baby-making plans with Julia any further.

The bodyguard was in the driver's seat, and Ivan Horne stood in front of the car, waiting for his parents.

"Ivan, come here. Daddy will lift you into the car." Glades Horne pulled open the front passenger door, picked up Ivan Horne, settled him inside, and then closed the door.

But no sooner had he shut the door than Ivan climbed from the front passenger seat to the back seat.

"Ivan, sit in the front," Glades Horne coaxed gently.

The back seat was his and Julia's private world, just like their bedroom at night—belonging only to them. Even their son was like a third wheel, not to be stuck in the middle.

"Daddy, I want to sit with you guys," Ivan, who was actually quite clingy to his parents, said.

"Sit in the front," Glades Horne coaxed patiently. He wouldn't allow his son to break their "routine." Making an exception once would lead to a second time. The boy was almost four, growing up fast. They couldn't let him always cling to his parents; they needed to cultivate his independence.

Ivan Horne's eyes widened as he gazed at his father.

He tried to plead with his father with his eyes, hoping to be allowed to sit in the back.

For as long as he could remember, whenever the family of three went out by car, his daddy always lifted him into the front passenger seat to sit with the bodyguard. He really wanted to know what it felt like to sit in the back seat with his parents.

"You two are having a staring contest again," Julia laughed, climbing in from the other side and pulling Ivan onto the seat beside her. "Glades, let Ivan sit in the back. You can sit in the front passenger seat."

The bodyguard in the front had been trying to suppress a chuckle and now laughed quietly to himself.

Outside, the Young Master maintained his unpredictable and decisive demeanor, but at home, in front of the Young Mistress and their son, he was like a completely different person.

"Julia, that's my seat." Glades Horne's eyes darkened slightly, unhappy that his wife had given his spot to their son.

He had always said that in his heart, Julia was first and their son was second. He loved his son, but he loved his wife more. He doted on his son, but he spoiled his wife even more.

"Come on, stop fighting with your son over a seat every time. Isn't it embarrassing? If this gets out, the media could fill an entire newspaper with stories about you two! The media just loves to snoop into the lives of the Horne family."

The young masters and young ladies of the Horne family were well-protected and had not yet been exposed by the media.

Glades Horne pursed his lips and remained silent. His tall frame squeezed into the back seat, and he closed the door.

When Ivan Horne saw his daddy purse his lips and fall silent, he didn't think it meant his daddy approved of him sitting in the back. He knew his daddy would just use forceful means to move him back to the front passenger seat. Sure enough, as Glades Horne closed the door, he turned and reached out a large hand—

"Daddy, I'll do it myself!" He who adapts to the times is a wise man, the little boy thought, too lazy to argue with an adult. Just as his father's unrelenting hand reached for him, Ivan quickly scrambled back into the front passenger seat, singing with precocious discontent, "Mommy and Daddy have each other, leaving only me, like I'm extra... like I'm extra..."

Julia couldn't help but chuckle. "Ivan," she said, shaking her head slightly. Honestly, how old was this boy? He was still four months shy of four, yet he was already changing lyrics to express his dissatisfaction and predicament!

Glades Horne didn't laugh, but amusement glinted in his eyes.

He was proud of his son's cleverness.

Adele drove off with Billy, and Rachel with Camila. The four bodyguards assigned to protect Julia, whom Glades hadn't dismissed, followed in their cars. The convoy of several vehicles left the Horne family villa and headed for the Playground in T City.

To avoid being recognized, the adults had all put on light makeup, trying to look different from usual—at least enough to prevent the paparazzi from spotting them.

Once they arrived at the Amusement Park, they parked their cars in a remote and somewhat concealed spot to avoid drawing attention. Then, they blended into the crowd with the three children and entered.

Glades Horne and Julia rarely had time to take the children out to play, even though they tried hard to make time.

Having his parents with him made playing all the more delightful for Ivan. He had been to this Amusement Park several times, accompanied by bodyguards, a nanny, or his uncles; his parents rarely joined him. Today was a rare occasion with both parents present. Like a wild horse freed from its reins, he romped about with Billy Horne. They darted everywhere, wanting to try everything. Apart from Glades's personal bodyguard who stayed close to him, the four bodyguards assigned to protect Julia kept a watchful eye on the three children, caring for and guarding them.

On weekends, many parents brought their children to the Amusement Park, so it was crowded. Dressed in casual clothes and with light makeup, no one recognized them. They could freely immerse themselves in the public's joyful atmosphere.

「While they were having a blast, back at Nameless Manor, Noah Reyes was stewing in unspoken irritation.」
