Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 662: A Family with Children, Poisoning Incident (2)_1
Rachel chuckled. "Billy, if you don't like Camila coming here, then Auntie can take Camila back home."
"Mommy, I came here to play with Brother Ivan, not to see him. I lose my appetite just looking at him!" Camila Ruiz declared, her small, rosy lips parting.
Having said that, she unceremoniously pushed Billy aside and made her way inside.
"This is my territory, and you're not allowed in!" Billy firmly blocked Camila's path, refusing to let her pass. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
The few people who were having breakfast all laughed heartily.
Adele Horne called out with a headache, "Billy Horne, don't be so rude!"
Her son was usually sensible and polite, but he turned into a rascal in front of Camila!
"Julia, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," Glades whispered in his beloved wife's ear. "Rachel is sharp-tongued, and Camila, young as she is, is already quite formidable. One can only imagine what she'll be like when she grows up." After Glades had whispered, he sneakily stole a kiss on Julia's earlobe, which made her face blush uncontrollably, and she gave him a reproachful look. He, however, was immensely proud of himself.
On the weekends, they generally wouldn't go to the office, and Rachel would bring her daughter over to visit, allowing the kids to play together.
"Billy, Camila said she was here to see me," Ivan Horne declared, having eaten his fill and leisurely sliding off his chair. Dressed just as handsomely in a black children's suit, he was easy on the eyes. His unhurried movements resembled the leisurely demeanor of Glades Horne. As Ivan walked up after sliding off his chair, his handsome face and dark eyes glanced towards Jimmy Horne, who then stopped blocking the way, but not before casting a mischievous glance towards Camila.
Today, Camila was dressed in a white long-sleeve blouse with a black jacket over it. The sleeves of the jacket were shorter than those of the blouse, but the hem covered the blouse, creating a clear black-and-white contrast. She wore a pair of black leggings beneath, and her hair was tied into two long ponytails, each adorned with a pretty bow atop her head. Paired with her lively eyes and her fair, winsome face, she looked like a little princess.
Suddenly, he unexpectedly plucked the bows from Camila's head and then, with a slick move, slipped away like an eel.
"Mommy, Billy stole my bows!" Camila fumed, her little face turning red with anger.
Rachel just smiled helplessly, lost for words.
After the adults had finished breakfast, they all moved from the dining table, and Rachel Bailey also found a seat on the sofa in the hall.
Seeing her mother not coming to her aid, Camila immediately set off in pursuit, indignant.
That damn Billy Horne, he was nothing but a little demon, always opposing her!
Ivan Horne also followed behind Camila as she headed out.
After Billy had taken Camila's bows, he ran out of the Courtyard and hid them in the flowerbed before Camila could catch up. By the time she came out after him, his hands were empty.
"Billy, my bows," Camila said, approaching him and reaching out for them.
"Don't have them."
Billy spread his tiny palms to show they were empty.
"Where are my bows?" Camila demanded, visibly upset. The bows were new, a gift from her grandmother. It wasn't that she was particularly attached to them, but her grandmother had personally helped her style her hair and tie the bows right before they went out. If she went home and her grandmother noticed the bows missing, she'd be angry. Of course, knowing how much her grandmother doted on her, she wouldn't be angry at her, but rather she would blame her mother. She would say her mother hadn't watched over her properly when they went out, letting her bows disappear.
Despite her young age, Camila often inadvertently witnessed her grandmother criticizing her mother, and she knew her grandmother didn't like her mother.
She didn't want Mommy to be blamed by Grandma again because of Billy's mischief.
"Where are my bows?" Camila demanded again, her little face already red with anger, looking endearingly lovely, but her eyes were beginning to mist over. Thinking of the countless times she inadvertently saw and heard Grandma scolding Mommy, she felt like crying.
Just like that other day, when she ran to open the door without being properly dressed. As soon as Grandma walked in, she started blaming Mommy. With Camila present, however, Grandma didn't continue the argument.
Camila was perhaps sensitive because she was a girl, or maybe it was because she had seen such scenes too often.
"Lost them."
"Billy Horne!" Camila cried out, her big eyes fixed on Billy.
Billy didn't understand Camila's feelings. To him, it was just a pair of bows, nothing to fuss about. His ultimate goal was to infuriate Camila.
Tears slid from Camila's eyes.
She wasn't crying and screaming as usual, but silently shedding tears.
Staring at Billy with tears in her eyes.
"Camila."
Ivan finally stepped in front of them. Seeing Camila crying, he immediately protected her behind him, glaring at Billy. Billy, thrown off by Camila's unusual crying, was a bit stunned. Receiving his cousin's glare, he resignedly turned and ran back to the flowerbed where he found the two bows. He couldn't help but take a closer look at the bows. Although they were of good quality, Camila didn't need to cry like this, did she?
After returning the bows to Camila, Ivan tried to put them back on for her. Being a child, he didn't know how to fix them properly and just casually attached the bows, which looked nowhere near as good as before.
"Billy, you made Camila cry again, didn't you?" Adele said, emerging from the house with a silver wallet in hand, apparently about to go out.
Following her were Mr. and Mrs. Glades Horne as well as Rachel Bailey.
Seeing Camila's red eyes, Adele immediately came up and picked up Camila, asking tenderly, "Camila, tell your aunt, did Billy bully you again? Billy, you just took Camila's bows away. Give them back right now, or I won't take you to the Amusement Park."
"Mommy, they're on her head," replied Billy nonchalantly. Hearing his mother talk about going to the Amusement Park, he immediately leaped forward with joy, abruptly pulling Camila out of Adele's embrace and wriggled in himself. Mommy was his, and he could allow Mommy to hug stinky Camila, but hogging her for more than three minutes was not allowed.
"Alright, kids, get in the car. I'm taking you to the Amusement Park," Julia said with amusement, watching the three little rascals. It was always the same scene: Billy and Camila at odds, with Ivan always protecting Camila.
The sight always brought a sense of familiarity to her, reminding her of how Glades always used to protect her and her sisters when they were little, and the smile on her lips deepened.
She could never have dreamed that she would marry Glades Horne.
After all, before she fell in love with Glades, she always saw him as a brother, as a brother-in-law.
Life is always so unpredictable.
"What are you thinking about?" A large hand came over to take hold of hers.
