QT: The Rescue Of The Miserable Bigshots-Chapter 242 - 8.29
Chapter 242: 8.29 freewebnσvel.cѳm
Mr. Fu finally calmed down a little. When he returned from the corridor with the face still clouded with anger, Fu Xiaoyuan and Tang Tang were already gone.
Not that he cared. All three of his sons only ever brought him irritation, each in their own way.
The eldest son was the most capable, and the one who resembled him the most in his youth, perhaps even more so. But he was too strong. And strength like that made Mr. Fu uneasy.
He hated the feeling of losing control, even over his own son.
So, he had no choice but to bring him down. Ruthlessly.
The second son? Obedient. Too obedient. He acted like a mouse in front of a cat, constantly needing instruction and hand-holding.
It had been comforting at first, but over time, his sheer uselessness became intolerable.
Wasn’t he also a Fu? Why didn’t he inherit any of his father’s edge?
The first two were failures, but at least there was still a third.
Mr. Fu had never liked him. He’d barely even seen the boy.
Yet just as he decided to give this third son a chance, he got into an accident. And his mother? Utterly shameless.
The photos Mr. Fu had just received made his blood boil. That bitch! She’d gone to bed with her fitness coach!
Did she think he was too old? Was she angry that he hadn’t brought their son into the Fu family?
Fine. If that’s how she wanted it, then she would never step foot in the Fu family again.
"Old Chen, do what I told you. Since that woman’s so shameless, let her enjoy herself."
Mr. Fu’s voice was low, cold, and furious.
Old Chen nodded. "Yes, Master. And... the third young master? Fu Xiaotian?"
Mr. Fu waved his hand. "Handle it quietly. Don’t let him find out, for now."
Old Chen understood. The Master still had some regard for the boy. His fury was directed at the mother, not the son.
"I understand. I’ll take care of it immediately."
"Mm."
Mr. Fu finally sat down. But he hadn’t even been seated two minutes when a sharp scream rang out from the inner corridor, followed by the sound of breaking glass.
In the corner, Jiang Jiamian raised an eyebrow. "Here we go! My little kindness of sending wine ’to cheer them up’ wasn’t in vain!"
The scream was loud enough to stun the entire banquet. Everyone froze and turned toward the source of the noise.
A waiter stumbled out from the inner corridor, face flushed red, covering his eyes in panic. He stepped on broken glass as he fled.
Jiang Jiamian: "..."
This was a bit much.
He had only asked the waiter to help deliver the wine and accidentally ’interrupt’ the protagonists’ plans. But he hadn’t expected such a dramatic result.
Wait.
No.
He turned instantly to look at Fu Yanchen beside him, sure enough, that unfathomable smile was back on Fu Yanchen’s lips. He tilted his head, watching the waiter flee as if it had nothing to do with him.
Jiang Jiamian narrowed his eyes and leaned in, lowering his voice, "You arranged that guy, didn’t you?"
After all, he knew Fu Yanchen had already investigated the little schemes of the protagonist. In the original plot, Fu Yanchen had simply tolerated it to disgust Fu Xiaoyuan. But this time, he’d clearly said he couldn’t be bothered to play with these flies.
Fu Yanchen turned to him with a lazy smile. He gently clasped Jiang Jiamian’s hand on the table. "I’m not that kind of person."
Jiang Jiamian: "..."
Heh.
That look, pretending innocence after pulling something shady? Truly the mark of someone trained by Jiang Jiamian himself.
While they exchanged glances, the banquet hall was in chaos. The corridor door had been pushed open, and with no soundproofing and total silence in the room, moans and heavy breathing echoed through the hall.
Everyone froze.
Faces flushed. Embarrassed. Silent.
All eyes turned toward Mr. Fu.
At that moment, Mr. Fu had already risen from his chair. His expression was stiff, and he hurried toward the source of the sound.
No one dared follow.
His legs trembled as he walked. In his heart, he kept praying: Let it be someone else. Let it be some guest. Please don’t let it be one of mine.
But he knew.
If it weren’t one of his sons, they wouldn’t have gone to that room. They would have already greeted him respectfully.
And when he came back earlier, he noticed Fu Xiaoyuan and Tang Tang were both missing.
He already knew.
Still, he walked forward. The door was half-open, left ajar by the fleeing waiter.
He peeked in.
And his blood pressure skyrocketed.
The two people inside were tangled together, panting, disheveled. He nearly collapsed from rage on the spot. He fought down the fury and was about to close the door quietly and find a way to spin this disaster.
But then, his idiot son looked up.
"Dad?!"
Fu Xiaoyuan jumped off Tang Tang in shock. Maybe the surprise shocked him sober, and he rolled off the couch and onto the floor.
Mr. Fu’s hand froze on the door. His face turned red.
That one word, ’Dad’, ruined everything.
He had almost found a way to spin this. A way to cover it up.
But now?
Now everyone knew who was inside.
Bang!
He slammed the door shut.
With a numb expression, he walked back to the hall. His steps were unsteady, as if he might collapse at any moment.
And unfortunately, the only person who could’ve helped him, Old Chen, was currently off delivering his cheating mistress to the red-light district.
Everyone tried to pretend they weren’t watching.
But just then, one clueless guest stepped forward, trying to ease the tension.
"Don’t be angry, Mr. Fu. Young people get impulsive after a few drinks. They’re engaged, after all. The only mistake was leaving the door open."
Obviously, this guest assumed Fu Xiaoyuan had gotten frisky with his fiance, Jiang Jiamian.
And if that were true, it might’ve actually saved Mr. Fu’s face. Just two engaged young men being a bit too affectionate, still embarrassing, but explainable.
But it wasn’t Jiang Jiamian.
And now, everyone would know that.
