Queen Mommy's Six Genius Babies Found the CEO Daddy-Chapter 206: No Feelings
"Sophia, you—"
"So President Brown and Wright Group already worked things out long ago? Are you two teaming up to give me a warning shot?"
Damien lifted his hand as if to touch her. Sophia immediately stepped back in guarded reflex.
A trace of a frown flickered across his face as he said quietly, "My cooperation with Wright Group was finalized only in the past few days. I don’t understand what you mean. Have I somehow offended your interests?"
"Mr. Brown, you’re a smart man. And smart men should know this—I despise liars most. Your partnership with Wright Group is your own business. I would never reach into your territory. But if the two of you join forces to bully me too far, don’t blame me for biting back."
Damien’s fingers curled slightly as he tried to explain, "The cooperation with Wright Group was a decision made by the board."
"I didn’t come here today to hear your explanations. Besides, we each run our own companies. I originally wanted to know the reason—now I don’t even need to look to understand it," Sophia said with a faint curve of her lips. "A two-hundred-million-dollar contract. Wright Group will suffer losses by pulling out as well. Mr. Turner, I’ve finally discovered what you’re like when you stop staying quiet and start making bold moves."
Sophia lowered her gaze, pulled an old, worn coin purse from her bag, and placed it in front of him.
"Take this as my meeting gift, Mr. Turner. From now on, we don’t need to pretend there’s any sentiment between us."
With a cool smile, she turned away. As she pivoted, she cast a subtle glance at Damien, the sharp click of her heels echoing as she walked out.
"Sophia."
Damien hurried after her.
Frank picked up the coin purse and froze for a moment—then a strangely meaningful smile crept across his face.
...
At the elevator.
Just as Sophia was about to close the doors, a hand slid between them, forcing the doors back open.
"Sophia."
Damien stepped inside, staring at her.
Sophia ignored him entirely. She could imagine many possibilities—but never that Damien would stab her in the back.
"Sophia, I truly didn’t know you had already signed a contract with Wright Group," Damien said in a low voice.
Sophia raised her brows and smiled. "Then I owe you an apology. Looks like I misunderstood you. Mr. Brown, as the successor of DS, you really don’t need to act so ingratiating."
"Sophia, there must be some misunderstanding between us. I honestly didn’t know you had signed with Wright Group—let alone that they would break the contract. If it weren’t for today, I’d still be completely in the dark."
"Oh?" Sophia replied lightly. "So what now? Are you planning to terminate your contract with them, Mr. Brown?"
With that single sentence, she blocked everything he was about to say.
Damien’s brow furrowed slightly.
Ding.
The elevator doors opened.
Sophia walked straight out. The man behind her followed.
Suddenly—
"Damien."
The sickly-sweet voice sent a chill of goosebumps across Sophia’s arms.
A flash of pink swept past her like a fluttering butterfly and wrapped itself around Damien from behind.
Sophia glanced back just in time to see Damien pushing Daisy’s hands away.
Daisy refused to let go, her eyes fixed on him as she pouted petulantly.
"Damien, why are you ignoring me? Is Sophia the only one you can see now?"
She shot an increasingly hostile glance at Sophia.
Why did she run into this woman everywhere?
Back then, she liked Lucas—and he married Sophia. Now she liked Damien—did he like Sophia too?
Sophia smiled calmly. "Miss Clark, your dress is quite lovely."
Daisy clenched her teeth. The memory of being humiliated by Sophia last time flashed vividly through her mind as she snapped,
"Miss Morgan isn’t bad either. Even with a figure that’s gone out of shape, someone still wants you, don’t they?"
Sophia stiffened slightly—but her face remained composed. She turned and walked away without a trace of hesitation.
Urgency crept into Damien’s eyes as he stared at the woman beside him and snapped, "Why do you insist on clinging to me like this?"
Daisy froze. She looked at him blankly, then said in a small voice, "Damien... don’t you like me? We’re already engaged. I’m your fiancée in name. In a little while, we’ll be getting married. Then why are you still so cold and impatient with me?"
Damien closed his eyes. His hand lifted, then fell back down again. He didn’t seem to know how to respond—only helplessness and disgust showed on his face.
Only after Sophia’s figure had completely vanished from sight did he finally speak.
"Our marriage was arranged by my father. That doesn’t mean I accept it. I don’t like you at all—you should have known that a long time ago. I have no feelings for you. Even if you marry me, I don’t think you’ll have a good life. I can give you everything—money, status, reputation—but the one thing you want most..."
He paused.
"I’m sorry. I don’t have that to give."
Daisy stared at him in disbelief and grabbed his hand.
"No... that’s not true, Damien. You do like me. Don’t deny it, okay? Even if it’s just a little—just a tiny bit would be enough. Don’t always pretend you hate me. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I genuinely like you. And I even asked my father to give you all the resources—future projects, all the cooperation—everything! That’s because I believe in you!"
"Daisy, you should understand me as well," he said quietly. "If you insist on marrying me, think carefully about what kind of ending you’ll face. I can give you everything—except the one thing you desire most."
He pushed her hand away and strode off.
Sophia must have misunderstood him today.
Even though there was no longer any relationship between them... he didn’t know why—
Ever since he left the banquet and saw the trending headlines flooding online, a slow, rising jealousy had taken hold in his heart.
He was jealous of Lucas.
Lucas showed his affection for Sophia openly, without hesitation. Yet the moment Damien drew close to her, danger would follow her as well.
His father already hated her to the core. The moment he dared to get close to Sophia, his father would definitely punish him.
Sophia...
What on earth am I supposed to do with you?
He almost felt it was ridiculous—how in such a short span of time, he had actually met the woman he truly loved.
The wrong time.
The wrong place.
The wrong person.
He stared at the car disappearing in the distance, lips pressed tightly together.
...
Inside the car, Sophia clenched her teeth.
Figure "out of shape"?
Had her figure really gone out of shape?
How dare Daisy question her body!
She took one look and immediately grabbed her phone.
...
At Hilton Group, Lucas was completely focused on his computer. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The moment his phone rang, a soft smile curved at his lips.
"Hello?"
On the other end came Sophia’s calm—yet clearly forced—voice.
"Lucas, something’s wrong."
He shot to his feet at once, brows drawn tight.
"Where are you right now?"
