Raising A Few Wives in a Beast Apocalypse-Chapter 509: Space battles(Pt 2)
"Aww, it seems I missed..." Chloe spoke in a seemingly disappointed but obviously gloating voice.
She had expected that the ray would behave similarly to how it had after facing Elsa and Audrey.
Liquid users tended to want to enclose their opponents in a water sphere.
While this water sphere was by far the strongest and deadliest she had been trapped in, it was still weak when enough force was put in.
As for her feint, well, she figured that an attack from the sky would be obvious. So why not switch it up and use the obvious attack to draw attention?
And she almost succeeded too. Just that the ray managed to react in time. And even then, it barely preserved its life with a heavy injury.
As Chloe spoke, blood began pouring out of the wound as well as the mouth of the ray.
It didn't say anything but from its eyes, it was obviously very pissed. It instantly charged at her, its abdomen glowing a bright blue.
That's right, it wanted to detonate its beast core and take Chloe with it into the afterlife.
And honestly, if it succeeds in exploding close to her, there was nothing she could do but die.
Chloe immediately noticed this problem. But she didn't panic. She expected something like this too.
And so, a dense blue glow enveloped her completely. Leaving behind a featureless being in her place.
It was clearly made of lightning but there was no crackling. Just focused pure energy, then...
"...."
There was no sound at all.
Chloe disappeared and appeared behind the ray. This time she was holding a glowing beast core in her hand which was losing its glow as she sucked it dry.
The ray turned around and looked at her in confusion. Then it looked down. Its whole lower region was missing. In its place was dust floating in place.
Chloe had turned it into dust. And the dust that could be seen was just the remaining dust that managed to avoid complete destruction.
"...."
"...."
"...."
Everyone looked on in silence for a moment. All their eyes were wide shut in shock.
What did they just see? Since when could Chloe do that? Sure, she always had the most destructive element but this was way too much!
"Are you not gonna tell us what happened like usual?" Jade asked Muku. Even with her hyperactive senses, she only saw the beginning and the ending of what happened.
The middle section was a complete blur. Hell, it wasn't even a blur. She sensed nothing at all.
"Yeah, you're gonna have to ask Chloe on this one. Maybe if I had been expecting it, I would have caught a glimpse. But I wasn't expecting whatever that was" Muku admitted to seeing nothing for the first time.
And that was understandable. After all, it looked like Chloe teleported.
"...." Hearing his response left everyone even more shocked.
Their all-powerful leader actually didn't see what happened either?!
Just how impressive was Chloe to achieve that? Did that mean she could take out Muku if they were to fight now?
"Hey everyone. Why do you all look like you saw a ghost?" Chloe asked after coming over.
"Tell us what you just did first" Jade replied. She didn't like not understanding what was going on.
"Later... I'm tired..." Chloe replied then to everyone's surprise she fell into Muku's eyes and fell asleep.
Everyone then noticed that she was now extremely pale after the move. It seemed it had taken an extremely heavy toll on her body.
Which was understandable. After all, that move was beyond an ultimate move. It was legendary.
Anyway, Muku gently held the girl who had completely fallen into recovery mode using the core she had just gotten still clutched in her hand.
He could have sent her back into the embryo to rest or prepared a metal bed for her to rest. But why would he do that when he could hold her warm and extremely comfortable body himself? Not to mention that scent of hers that drove him crazy for whatever reason.
He was surprised by how he hadn't jumped on her already actually.
Yeah, he was definitely not a good guy for thinking like that at such a time, but so what? He never said he was. And the girls already knew that their man was a pervert who would definitely take advantage of them any and every chance he got.
And they were okay with it. They chose to take it as his weird way of showing that he loved and desired them.
Anyway, everyone soon ignored how Muku was sneakily feeling up Chloe and focused on Layla's fight.
It was also close to ending...
...
Layla's battle...
Before Chloe's battle ended, Layla's battle was one of attrition. Both sides threw attacks and the other side defended.
But after Chloe ended her opponent, things took a turn. The ray became way more violent and reckless in its actions.
It had seen its partner getting executed by Chloe.
It had actually wanted to assist, but Layla prevented that. This left it feeling helpless.
In normal situations, R6s can easily create attacks far away from them.
However, it was almost impossible when another R6s has taken over a certain space with their mana, then it was almost impossible to do such a thing.
And there was no way an experienced fighter like Chloe wouldn't do such a thing so...
Anyway, since it couldn't get to Chloe for the time being, it chose to focus all its anger on Layla. It washer fault it couldn't go help anyway.
"I'm going to kill you so that the bastard who killed my partner knows what it's like to lose a loved one" The ray which was also in a humanoid form hissed in an angry voice.
Its skin shade was lighter than the one Chloe fought and its voice was feminine. This suggested that it was the female of the two. Likely a wife who had seen her husband being killed.
While it was definitely the unhappiest creature in the area at that moment, Layla wasn't too happy either.
Not only has she used a move she said she wouldn't use, but she was slower than Chloe in finishing the battle. And Chloe didn't even use Kamikaze.
Plus the realisation that had Chloe used the move she used just now in their duo before, she would have likely died if no one interfered.
That's how deadly that nameless move was. Even with [omnipresence] she might have been caught.
Unless maybe it was within her domain where every minute detail was tracked.
Anyway, while she was facing the wrath of the female ray, the female ray was also facing her wrath.
At that point in time, she hadn't used her shadow-charged attacks yet. After all, they were still not serious, and she was never one to show all her cards too early in the game...
At least she thought they were still not serious, she couldn't speak for the ray.
Anyway, unlike the male ray, the female one actually used ice instead of water. This made this Layla's first-ever ice versus ice battle.
She was excited initially, which likely led to her taking so long without finishing the match.
Beating Chloe's time wasn't guaranteed, but she could have definitely saved some time had she been serious from the start.
Anyway, the ray didn't waste time. It isolated the two of them in an ice sphere bigger than the moon... Yeah, the pair of rays seemed to have similar tastes in attacks.
Anyway, from every direction ice wyrms formed and charged at Layla.
When she destroyed some, they would be absorbed by the domain before being spat out again in Prestine conditions.
When Layla tried attacking a certain spot to escape, the ice would gather there, making the area impenetrable.
At the same time, the sphere glowed brightly eliminating all shade. Even the attacks glowed, no shade was created.
This meant that Layla had to defend as she couldn't get away with the shadow element.
And that was all. Random spikes would shoot out at random from random places as well. And the ice got thicker with time too.
The space inside kept on decreasing without losing mass. Which meant that it would become harder and harder to escape with time.
Honestly, after it advances to a certain stage, Layla will definitely be unable to break through no matter what she does.
Though even now, escaping seemed rather impossible.
This was the very effect the ray wanted. It wanted Layla to feel despair as she saw her demise quickly approaching without being able to do anything.
Maybe then it will feel better about the death of its partner.
There was also supposed to be a painful freezing cold effect, but Layla was an ice mage, so that was off the table. But it didn't matter. The rest was enough.
The ray also didn't stop attacking Layla with all its might inside the sphere.
It really would have been a horrendous situation for a normal opponent. Worthy of the move's name, [Execution ground]
But was Layla a normal opponent? Of course not. The situation looked dire. And as much as she didn't want to admit it, if it was solely an ice battle. She might have lost.
But that it was...
"Shadow charged:..." She finally spoke, calmly too.
Things were about to get real...
