Chapter 87: Chapter 87: True Healing

Using spiritual control, he created a thin veil around his hand as he touched the wound directly.

The claw marks were shallow, like those of a beast with short claws.

On the other hand, the bite marks were quite large.

Such a combination confused him somewhat, though the general injury seemed to have been caused by an extremely strong whip lash.

He looked at the wound deeply to see whether he could heal it.

His own recovery spells might be able to heal it superficially, but the core of his spells was to push the body to recover the injury on its own.

So if there was anything blocking the wound’s recovery, or if the wound was simply too much for the body to recover, then he couldn’t create wonders.

When he touched along the wound’s edge, he could feel the wolf trembling and heard it whining ever so slightly.

"The wounds are deep, not just visually, but at every corner of it there is a bit of spiritual power left that will make recovery difficult, at the very least delay my spells.

And the cuts are very rough, making a natural recovery extremely difficult.

If you didn’t advance to the late stage, then you would have died long ago.

To heal this wound I need more than just spells..."

"Woof? Woof woof!" the mate suddenly jumped up and offered getting the spiritual grass.

"No, if you don’t have any healing material, then this grass doesn’t help me much.

Let me try to see if I can do something else..."

Fengyu thought of something – the image.

He summoned it in front of him, knowing no one else could see it.

Overlapping the image with the wound, he barely saw a difference.

The image even locked on the fur part, not switching between the three like before.

It also stretched and became a copy of the gash in front of him.

Yet when he looked at the image, he could see the spots of spiritual power and the shape of the wound clearer, as if everything had an outline.

But...

He attempted the previous move – zooming into it with his eyes, trying to see the depth of the wound he had tried to see before.

Every attempt previously failed... and now, it also failed.

The image became like a map for the wound and he could roughly guess that with it, he could try to better heal the wound.

At the same time though, taking the image away and observing the wound in front of him, he felt a sense of premonition.

If he spent a day or two observing this wound, he might very well achieve the enlightenment he had sought before!

"Woof?" the alpha wolf asked him suddenly, "Woof woof wooooof..."

It told him not to waste time and allow him to die peacefully.

"Don’t worry about it, I can heal you!" Fengyu made a choice –

He could try to observe the wound during the healing process, but he wouldn’t abandon the patient just to gain enlightenment.

If he took such a path, wouldn’t he be like those human experimentalists who tortured people and slaughtered corpses to get to know things better?

With his own abilities, he would only need to spend a bit longer to achieve the same effect, without having to sacrifice an old friend.

At first when he just started trading with these wolves, he only thought about getting the recovery spell expertise.

After over a year, he had many interactions with them, knew their aspirations and their lowest times, and long considered them friends.

He touched the wolf softly, closing his trembling eyes.

Everyone was scared at the doorstep to death, but today wouldn’t be his death.

Summoning the image in front of him and approaching the body with his hands, he slowly cast several spells one after another –

Spiritual Absorption Spell, his most familiar spell.

With careful moves he extracted the spiritual power left from the attack, allowing the wolf to absorb it ever so slightly.

’I never thought of using this spell like that, it seems practical experience is truly equally valuable...’ his thoughts jumped with each move, trying to find a different way to heal this giant wolf.

The process was long and arduous.

Such a huge body had countless small marks, each of them could delay the recovery for too long or leave behind hidden scars.

Occasionally Fengyu would cast the Vitality Recovery Spell to make sure the wolf would last throughout the whole recovery. He even cast the Vitality Breeze Spell once after sending out all the wolves, allowing for a continuous passive recovery by breathing.

’These cuts are too uneven and the recovery will be extremely difficult. The best way is to go from inside to outside.

What should I do?’

The more he observed the wound, the more he felt like he got closer to the origin of his enlightenment, but he also felt like time was running out too fast.

And the wound... its cuts were like peaks and mountains. Once a recovery started, the vitality power would try to push the wound close as fast as possible. This was unacceptable if there were still countless holes left inside the body.

After a moment’s thought, he cast a different spell – "Silver Feather Spell, Shoot!"

A thin silvery feather appeared in his hand –

Moving it along the wound, he ruthlessly cut off the pieces of flesh that would obstruct the recovery.

But instead of throwing them out, he would use the Spiritual Absorption spell to absorb their whole spiritual power, pushing it back into the body. Only then did he throw out the dead flesh.

The wolf whined louder, trying its best to suppress the pain.

"You’ll be fine soon," Fengyu patted it gently after he had cut most of the uneven flesh.

Feeling the vitality with the True Vitality Control Art, he knew that time was short and that he had to hurry up.

He waved the feather quickly and cut off the rest before finally using his best recovery spell –

"Wood Recovery Spell, Recover!"

"Vitality Recovery Spell, Recover!"

"Recovery Beam Technique, Beam!"

"Fwuuuuuuuu-"

The two spells combined into a beam, shooting right at the wolf!

Fengyu’s spiritual power depleted rapidly –

90%

80%

70%

At the same time, the wounds on the wolf’s body also recovered fast –

The flesh was now like two even walls, so the power started from the lowest point, flesh regenerating right in front of him.

60%

50%

40%

Fengyu felt like his spiritual power was depleting too rapidly even though the wound was only healed half.

30%

20%

Finally, seeing he couldn’t complete the healing, he decided to change his approach.

The wolf had recovered enough to leave death’s door, so Fengyu cast a different spell –

"Fire Breath Spell, Breath!"

FWOOOSSHH

A burnt smell spread in the air as he closed the wound with a flame!
