Re:Ant Lord-Chapter 160: Last Enemy
Chapter 160: 160: Last Enemy
--- ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
With a howl, Grev charged. Both scythes came in from opposite angles. One was high and one low. It is designed to cut and feint, lock and drag, crush and sever.
But Kai’s spear spun in a blur of impossible motion.
Metal screamed on impact. Sparks burst out on clash. Kai parried high with the shaft, ducked low with Adaptive Armor shielding his side, then dropped onto one elbow and kicked upward, his leg extending into Grev’s rib cage.
The crack echoed through the air.
Grev reeled back, mouth bloodied. "You will die for that!"
Kai was already moving. He activated Worker’s Resilience, draining fatigue into temporary power.
+Strength. +Stamina. +Speed.
Every muscle snapped into peak efficiency.
Grev’s next scythe was caught by his hand.
"You call that sharp?" Kai asked, pulling the blade down and twisting it until metal buckled.
Then his spear stabbed into Grev’s thigh. A burst of crimson flushed out. The leg went limp.
Kai didn’t stop.
Slam. Slam. Slam.
He struck like a machine. It was like a methodical punishment without any hesitation. Finally, he activated the Antenna Sensory Boost. (Aura -200)
The vibrations of Grev’s heartbeat told him where the next dodge would be.
Kai was already there. The spear pierced Grev’s chest. "End of line. Go, meet your teammates. They are waiting for you." He said with a deep voice.
He twisted the blade. Grev choked once, then he went still and silent for forever.
[Ding! System Notification: Killed Grev of Shadow Talon Squad, Five star rank. +800 EXP.]
[Ding! Congratulations Host for level up.
Current Level: 38 → 39. Aura capacity increased by one hundred.]
Kai stood over Grev’s broken body, breathing slow and deliberate, as the battlefield burned around him. Scorch marks laced the shattered ground. Vaporized blood hung faintly in the air, tinged with the last remnants of aura residue. Grev’s scythes had fallen at odd angles, one cracked and the other crumpled under its own weight.
The silence stretched until Kai reached forward. Without hesitation, he activates his ultimate Devourer Skill:
[Essence Eater – Activated.]
A soft hum vibrated through the spear in his hand. His palm pressed against Grev’s chest as wisps of translucent red essence rose from the fallen warrior’s form. They coiled upward like threads pulled from a tapestry, wrapping around Kai’s arm and sinking into his skin. The sensation wasn’t hot or cold, rather it was like swallowing thunderclouds. Violent and alive.
[Ding! System notifications-
Kin Devourer Effect Triggered. Target: Grev (5★).
+50 Strength
+50 Speed
+50 Stamina ]
Kai’s body twitched. Veins surged. His bones flexed beneath the strain, stretching against the rapid stat increase. But he didn’t flinch. He didn’t even grunt.
He simply absorbed.
Even after the stats settled in, he extended the process, devouring what remained of Grev’s spiritual essence, draining it until the corpse caved in on itself, deflating like a punctured wineskin.
[Ding! Grev fully devoured.]
As the light of the system faded, Kai stood taller. His back straighter. Muscles more defined beneath his armour. His presence now radiated not just strength but domination.
Meanwhile, across the battlefield, the remnants of Mia’s squad stood stunned.
None dared speak for the first few seconds. The wind rustled ash and soot between them, but not one blinked.
Shale, usually the proudest among them, dropped to one knee, eyes wide. His voice cracked, "He’s... he’s not the squad leader we know anymore. He is different..."
Needle, with his dart-filled sash and calm demeanor, couldn’t keep his hands steady. "He’s a one ant army."
Flint opened his mouth twice to speak and closed it both times. He didn’t have any words to describe it.
Vexor, the silent brute of the squad, finally stepped forward. His heavy boots crunched through cinders as he stared across the corpses of Drask and Brask, shattered like fallen idols. Sil, her wings tattered. Grev, a five star rank captain was eaten before their eyes.
His gaze lifted to Kai, who stood amidst the carnage like a monarch among insects.
"That’s not an elite," Vexor murmured, awe strangling his words. He said louder, with conviction this time, "That’s a legend in making."
Silence again. Then the Dawn Blade squad dropped to one knee in unison.
"That’s our old squad captain, we witnessed a legend," Vexor declared.
Just beyond the ridge, Luna starred in breathless wonder. Her ears twitched, her body flared in instinctive caution but her eyes sparkled with pride. "My husband survived all of that... and still stands tall." Her voice shook.
Skyweaver hovered above her, arms crossed tightly. "That was the true power of our lord Monarch," she said. "One day our lord’s legend will spread far in the beast domain."
Beside them, Shadeclaw growled low, his aura humming with emotion. "He’s different now. After the battle, our lord got stronger."
Miryam, nestled in Luna’s sling, finally opened her glowing eyes slightly. Her mouth parted, and through the soul link, she whispered one word that echoed in Kai’s heart:
<Papa. I am proud of you.>
Kai turned slightly, just enough for Luna to see his profile. He nodded once at her. Then he turned his eyes back to the battlefield.
The system whispered again:
[Current Experience: 000 / 1000 to Level 40.]
He clenched his fists. "Very close to four star rank but Not enough," he muttered. "I need to kill some more."
His spear still shimmered with a devoured aura. The hunger hadn’t left. If anything, it had grown sharper.
He surveyed the surrounding dead. Dozens of savage rabbits, their remains still smoking. The twisted guardian, now no more than faint soul motes drifting into oblivion.
His hunger spoke louder than his weapons.
The corpses of the Savage Rabbit Clan lay sprawled in all directions. Their limbs twisted, mouths frozen in snarls, their once bloodthirsty aura now lifeless stains on the wind. But not useless.
Kai took a deep breath.
[Essence Eater – Activated.]
He crouched beside the first rabbit corpse, its head cracked from a prior clash. Then, without ceremony, he sank his teeth into its chest. Warm essence surged into his mouth, a liquid fire, thick and dense.
