Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 39: SYSTEM
Levi said no other words; his eyes scanned the knight with scrutiny. ’Just master tier,’ he noted mentally.
The knight steadied himself, his blade pulsing with mana as he burst forward in a streak of silver. He appeared before Levi, the sword descending in a terrifying arc.
Levi was prepared, sidestepping with calm movements. His leg shot forward in a blur of motion, crashing into the knight’s stomach squarely.
No enhancement or skills, just pure physical prowess. The armour broke like paper, giving way for Levi’s foot to press on without interruption.
Bone ruptured, and flesh folded. The impact created a hole through the knight’s body. Blood oozed from the hole in a tide of crimson, dyeing the floor red.
The body fell limply to the floor. It happened so fast that not even the knight’s eyes were able to follow it.
Levi retracted his leg calmly, the blood on the sole of his shoe disappearing with a thought.
The knight had never worth his time; his attention was rather on Ruby, who was feeding for herself outside the gate.
Unlike him, other people’s stamina was limited, and they could not fight indefinitely.
"I have to reach her quickly," he muttered again, before dashing towards the gate.
Outside the gate, Ruby moved like the phantom of death. Wherever her rapier flashed, a body fell.
Her strikes were accurate and precise, piercing through hearts with the tip and deflecting attacks with the sides.
A spear pierced forward, and even the wind groaned from the speed and power behind it. With ease, Ruby side-stepped, her body moving flawlessly to the left.
Before the attacker could even withdraw their spear, her rapier streaked forward in a blur, piercing through the attacker’s head with finesse.
Without wasting time, she jumped, just in time to avoid a claymore that was targeted at her feet.
She landed calmly on the edge of her rapier that was still suspended in the spearman’s head.
For a moment, time seemed to still. The elves gazed up at Ruby, and she returned the gaze, coldly.
’I can’t handle all of them alone, no matter what,’ she thought. ’But I will take as many as I can with me.’
With those thoughts, she jumped, pushing the corpse down from the force. Mid-air, she pulled her rapier out, swinging it in an upward arc to block the previous claymore.
She exploded from her position, her eyes locked on the wall that held most of the combatants. She planned to destroy the source of the soldiers by collapsing the walls.
With that, most of them will die from that crash.
As she moved, light began to condense on the tip of her rapier. Behind her, the elf soldiers followed like a torrent, unrelenting as they tried to catch up.
"You idiots, she wants to collapse the wall, leave right now," one of the knights stationed on the wall screamed at the soldiers, already darting towards the floor.
An unexpected change. Everyone was suspended in space, their bodies locked to where they were.
The knight froze mid-air, gravity seemingly avoiding him.
Ruby flashed a grin as she pressed on, her body propelling faster towards the wall. ’This is the rest of my mana, I will take as many as I can down,’ she mused, pouring all her mana into her legs.
In less than a moment, she closed in on the wall. Without hesitation, she swept her sword in a horizontal arc. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The light that had built up on the tip shot out, trailing in the same arc and expanding beyond. It shot towards the wall, whistling through the air with a deadly rhythm.
The arc of light crashed against the wall, slicing through cleanly. Cracks spread along the wall’s surface, spreading evenly till the web covered the entire wall.
With a thunderous crash, the wall collapsed.
The suspended soldiers were released at the same time, their bodies plummeting to the floor alongside the debris.
Wails and screams filled Ruby’s ears as the elves were crushed under the weight of the heavy bricks of the wall.
Blood and flesh flew through the dust that was raised, but her expression remained impassive, clearly unaffected by the amount of death that occurred just because of her action.
She turned back again, looking at the elves pouring in from behind.
"You know what? Fuck all of you," Ruby said, flashing her middle finger, a crazed grin forming across her face.
"System, activate toggle morph," she said, her breath steadying.
[Host, please choose a mode]
The floating HUD that appeared behind her said to her mentally.
"Density mode," she said, gripping her rapier tightly in her hand. "I don’t have mana to use most of the other modes; density is the best option for this situation," she analysed calmly.
Instantly, a golden sheen covered her body, sticking to her like a second layer of skin.
Without using an ounce of mana, her body became lighter, weightless enough to make it seem like even a slight push from the wind was enough to send her flying.
But even the wind seemed to be avoiding he area.
She pushed from her position, her form streaking, slowly getting faster with each passing moment. By the time she had crossed half of the distance, her body moved in a blur of pink.
She reached the unlucky one in the front, her katana lunging forward, directed at the woman’s heart with grace.
It pierced through her heart, forcing its way through to the other side. The elf’s eyes widened, but Ruby did not linger. She withdrew her rapier, letting the body fall.
Her free hand shot forward, catching an incoming elf off guard. The hand hit, crashing into the elf like it was a meteorite.
The elf’s body blew up from the torso, spraying blood and flesh alike around. Those behind were not spared either, their bodies exploding from the terrifying force.
Levi stood behind, watching her massacre all of the elves with ruthless precision. He had reached the battlefield since she blew the wall, and was about to intervene in her battle when he heard her say something that terrified him.
’She has a system,’ he wondered, his brows furrowed as he stared at her moving between elves.
