"I hope the two of you are happy now," King Arthur muttered in annoyance. "So get out of my sight."
"Will do, thanks for the patronage," Rael remarked, then grabbed Zafira by the hand and began walking away.
He could still spot a few rulers in the distance, and a few in particular had caught his eyes.
King Diederich and King Asolian were having a chat, and Reinhardt also seemed fairly involved.
Hmm...? I guess he might not be an ally after all, Rael mused, turning to Zafira.
She seemed in a daze, but when they finally left the courtyard, she snapped out of it.
"Did you get one too...?" she asked. "This management stuff, I mean."
"Mhm." Rael nodded, turning to Zafira. "It seems pretty neat. And as for the money? I guess we get over half a billion for free every month."
"Hmm... that’s not good, Rael," Zafira replied in a serious tone. "We spend over 7 billion Trell on our city... country. But it doesn’t make sense."
"I see what you mean." Rael shrugged, taking a closer look. "There are only 43,922 people in Celestara, only 41,455 are taxpayers, which also means their health is insured by Celestara. What’s the rate?"
Zafira fell into thought for a moment before replying. "10,000 Trell per month. So it should be around 414,550,000 Trell monthly. It’s a normal expenditure."
"So how much do you allocate to the royal guards? Or I guess, our military?" Rael asked.
"120,000 Trell per person, which adds up to 519,840,000 Trell," Zafira replied.
Yet just as he was about to ask another question, she interjected.
"Rael. I understand you’re trying to debunk this, but you can’t when it doesn’t make sense. I made some calculations in my mind, and every time, our expenditure doesn’t even reach 4 billion Trell," Zafira stated, biting her nail.
The moment she did, Rael grabbed her hand and interlocked their fingers.
"Don’t bite your nails," he said plainly. "When we get back, we’ll figure out why it’s using up so much. Don’t worry."
But there was also the other issue.
"As for Sylvaran... I’ll deal with them next week, I promise," Rael added and leaned in, placing a kiss on her pouting lips.
The kiss lasted a few seconds, and they finally parted as Zafira looked down toward the ground.
"Fine..." Zafira muttered. "Let’s go back now. I’m too—"
"Greetings, rulers of Celestara," a seductive voice rang out, belonging to none other than Lilith, the ruler of the Demonic Lands.
"It’s about those ores of yours. The deal with the Holy Kingdom is still going through, yes?" Lilith asked sheepishly. "Because if it is, the Demonic Lands would also love to be a part of the deal."
Zafira’s brows furrowed as she looked Lilith up and down.
"You’re basically naked... aren’t you cold?" Zafira asked with a sour look. "But yes... our mineral deal in exchange for artifacts is still on."
"Excellent!" Lilith jumped up in excitement. "Then what do you say about this... I want the same deal you gave the Holy Kingdom. In exchange, I’ll help you get in contact with one of our greatest enchanters. What do you say?"
Rael’s eyes widened. An Enchanter? Is she serious?
Like most countries, the Demonic Lands had something they excelled at. In this case, it was the enchanting of items.
Enchanting adds properties to an item that normally wouldn’t be possible, and the greater the proficiency of the enchanter, the more world-breaking the enchantments become.
It’s basically like my Prismatic Genesis skill where I can get special effects. But in the case of Enchanters, they don’t have a limit to what kind of enchantments can be put on an item, Rael thought as a small smile began to form.
I remember someone enchanted the blades of a helicopter to spit out fire, so they accidentally nuked an entire city. It was a fun livestream to watch, but it’s not as fun anymore knowing that the NPCs inside Sketa Only were real.
Nonetheless, putting those thoughts aside, he put a hand over Zafira’s mouth, stopping her from declining the offer out of jealousy.
Instead, he spoke.
"What’s the tier of your enchanter?" Rael asked, when all of a sudden, Zafira began licking his palm, causing him to raise his hand in surprise.
She looked up at him with a pout, then turned toward Lilith, who looked at their actions with amusement.
"Ah..." Lilith snapped out of it. "Tier? Our highest is at Tier 5. And the services I’m offering you will be done by a Tier 4 Enchanter. What do you say?"
"So will they be at our beck and call then?" Zafira asked, tilting her head. "Because to me, it sounds like you’re offering that demon up to work for us."
Lilith didn’t deny the comment as her smile grew.
"That’s exactly what I’m offering," Lilith said flatly. "We all live on the same continent, and while I understand that the demons have a bad reputation, not all of us are as bad as our ancestors."
"So what’s the catch then?" Rael asked. "Demons are proud and unstable. What guarantees do I have that the demon won’t just add some self-destruction enchantments on our items on a whim?"
Lilith’s brow twitched. "You’re confusing our race with the race of the Nether Demons. We’re Darkness Demons, so we’re very resistant to losing control of our emotions. But you could say we’re a bit gloomy at times."
"It’s fine," Zafira chimed in. "We’re willing to consider your offer, but let’s do that after Celestara is done with the war."
"Of course." Lilith performed a curt bow. "Then I’ll be off, Rael Sutekh, Zafira Sutekh. May you achieve victory in your battle with Aztera." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Her voice became lower as she raised her head slightly. "And if you wish... the Demonic Lands are more than happy to assist you w—"
"We’re good." Rael cut her off. "We’ll talk soon, Lilith."
With those words, he took Zafira’s hand and began slowly walking out of the palace.
Before they could take more than a few steps, a surprising pop-up appeared, causing Rael and Zafira to halt and turn toward Lilith.
But she was already gone.
Hmm... He turned toward the pop-up.
