Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 90. Waking Up In A Steel Cage
90. Waking Up In A Steel Cage
A low grunt came from Eryndor’s lungs as he started to feel the cool wind brushing on his face. He could feel that he was on a bed of sorts, memories of the battle came rushing back into his head. The battle against Karlok the lightning troll and borrowing his master’s power. He also recalled the orange haired beast girl causing him to spring awake, he wondered if she was safe.
What greeted him was the blinding rays of golden light the sun always graced the world in. He raised his hand over his face and squinted his eyes slightly to better adjust to the light.
The first thing he noticed was not the change in his surroundings but rather the one within him. His mana veins felt smoother, lighter, he could say they were once strained but he was different now. He felt really good like all of him had been renewed.
As Eryndor still struggled with the sunlight the world blacked out, he was a little alarmed but he managed to calm himself and look up to see a beautiful young woman with long sea blue hair and eyes, her skin was white like ivory and she wore a pair of round eyeglasses that made her eyes pop out more.
"Did I die?" Eryndor said, his throat feeling dried and rough.
She gasped in shock before shaking her head and saying. "No, why would you even think such a thing?"
Eryndor could not hide his surprise as he spoke. "How else would you explain waking up before a stunning angel such as yourself."
He watched her blush and it made him happy, it reminded him when his system had been giving him ridiculous quests in the early years and wondered if perhaps the charm points he got back then were still equivalent to him now.
The beautiful young woman stuttered a little before she spoke. "I-- I’m Elise, I used to be a healer for the nameless head party." Even saying those words made her almost throw up but it was the only status she had that could be spoken off and the white haired elf did not seem to know about the party. This lifted off a huge load from her chest.
Elise had seen his fight with the beast girl and also how he had taken on a number of mercenaries single-handed. Not to mention the feat he performed by defeating the mighty ogre, seeing that she did not want to annoy him or get on his bad side. She wanted to be his ally at best and at worst, she did not want to think in that direction as it send shivers running down her spine.
She started by explaining what had transpired since the events flowing his victory over the mercenary head. She also explained how the two of them who helped the beast people were thrown into the steel cage and left without food or water for three days straight. She did not fail to mention the part about her healing his body, she was very explicit about this part. She also talked on how the strange prisoner had helped somehow resurrect him, as much as she wanted to take the glory of saving his life. She did not want to overstep her boundary with their residing roommate who in a way could be said to be the landlord steel cage.
Eryndor just lay there and listened to her in silence, he took occasional glances at where the strange prisoner lay on a bed of leaves apparently in deep sleep or faking it. "Elise was it, thank you for saving my life but I’m not supposed to be here."
Elise gave a kind gesture with a low bow as a courtesy, Eryndor raised an eyebrow and eyes her features. Her skin looked too kept to say she was just an adventurer, her dress had stains of dust and ash from the fight days before. He could also see a look of dignity in her eyes causing him to suggest that she had a powerful background, perhaps royalty but there was no way she was— Eryndor gasped and said.
"You’re a human." He said as he noticed the roundness of her ear, it was small and white. Unable to believe it he stretched out his hand and held it gently, it felt soft and smooth under his thumb. He felt overly excited, a part of this was because he was a human himself, emphasis on the "was". In his time in the world he had only met elves, beasts, beast people who unfortunately did not leave a good impression on their saviour, and now his very first human in this world. For some reason she felt like a rare museum exhibit before him.
Elise pulled back her face burning bright red, she had seen his hand coming for her face and feared he would harm her but he did not. Her experience with Garult still burned into her paralyzing her and expecting the worst. Instead of being assaulted she felt his cool palm on her ear and it made her feel a different type of fear.
Eryndor apologized. "Sorry, I was just a little excited."
His eyes fell to her voluptuous chest and eyed it hungrily, it took all of his willpower to snap his mind from it. Despite being fully recovered he still felt compelled to lay there and pretend to be hurt for the time being, he had a more urgent matter to attend to.

Before he could read any further a figure appeared before him, it was the strange prisoner. Eryndor could only see one of his red eyes that was not hidden by his hair and he was looking down at Eryndor for a long while with a piercing intensity.
After a while he spoke in a low voice that commanded authority to some extent. "Hey there brother."
Eryndor’s widened as he screamed in his defense. "What the hell are you talking about? Are you crazy?" He rolled off the bed of leaves and stood toe to toe with the strange prisoner that appeared to be only a little bit older than him.
Eryndor’s eyes fell to his eyes a that poked gently out of his shaggy red hair, they were pointed slightly and short. "What’s this? Is he a sub species?" He thought.
The red haired boy closed his eyes and raised up his hands to show that he had no intention of fighting. A weak smile formed on his face that looked wrong in every way possible. If a smile was meant to bring charm and beauty to the world this one did the entire opposite, it made Eryndor’s spine shudder, he could feel the chills resonating off the strange prisoner.
"Is that any way to greet a brother?" The strange prisoner sounded pained as he scratched the back of his neck nervously and looked at Eryndor in a new light. He stretched out a hand and said in a low voice, "Name’s Ash. Ash Valerion, which would you prefer I call you? Little brother or junior."
Eryndor’s soul threatened to run from his body in that moment, if it was any other name he had heard he would not be as shaken as this. Even Celyndor’s name could not give him the chills but that name Ash Valerion was the one thing he had been told to avoid for at least a few more years and now he met him withing weeks of leaving the ice mountain region. A few seconds passed in odd silence before Eryndor thought to himself, "Shit damn my cursed attribute."
