RE: Perverted Sugar Daddy System-Chapter 283: Busted
Chapter 283: Busted
With Giggs at the helm, we smoothly navigated the traffic caused by the impromptu rainfall and, after 20 minutes, left midtown Detroit.
We spent another 20 minutes on the road, driving through the city, and finally, Giggs brought the car to a stop.
"We’re here."
"Here?" I mumbled in disbelief, my eyes scanning the clean, bustling street outside. There were ice cream and taco trucks, several well-dressed people walking around, and, most importantly, the skyscrapers surrounding us.
This wasn’t at all what I’d imagined.
My idea of the place where Grace would be held was completely different.
I expected the outskirts of town, a rundown area, maybe a former industrial site, or even a slum.
"Where is this?"
"Downtown Detroit, sir."
"Which building?"
"Quintell Abulak," Giggs said, pointing to the right.
"How many floors?" I asked, eyeing the blue structure with white pillars at its front, rising high into the sky.
"Forty floors.
The building is owned by the Agnum Group. From the 35th to the 40th floor is the Agnum Club.
The 20th to the 32nd floors are a hotel, and the remaining lower floors are lounges, restaurants, and shops."
"I thought you hadn’t done a reconnaissance."
"I haven’t. This is just public data."
"I see. Thanks."
Though I hadn’t asked, Giggs had offered essential extra info, which, frankly, I didn’t mind.
Echo!
I released Psion into the atmosphere, communicating my intentions. A second later, I received a mind-blowing feedback.
In the future, we had things like the Burj Khalifa stretching one kilometre into the air, and the Rising Tower going two kilometres.
In 2002, though, 500 meters was already a stretch.
Facing no difficulty with my 3D model, the Quintell Abulak appeared before me.
Unlike in reality, where it had walls to hide its secrets, every part of the building was laid bare to me.
"Give me a minute," I told Giggs, diving into unravelling the secrets of the model in my head.
The first thing I noticed was a black patch covering certain areas of the building.
It was like an attempt to block my gaze—these patches only started appearing above the 20th floor.
"Nature energy," I muttered.
At this point, with all I had experienced so far, it was safe to say that people used nature energy to shield rooms or items from the penetrating gaze of those with observation abilities like mine.
Unfortunately for them, not only did I possess a powerful observation skill through Echo and Mind Vision, but my Psion had also been mutated by Nature Energy, giving me the ability to see through anything. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Despite my brain rapidly downloading all the information from the model, it still took a while to locate Grace.
There were a few familiar faces, but they were inconsequential.
The reason I’d rushed to Michigan in the first place was because of Giggs’s tale that Grace’s life was in danger, but according to what I was seeing, the woman was relatively fine.
"Grace is alright. Call Lin and see if she has any information on what’s currently happening in the Quintell Abulak."
Despite not fully understanding my words or conclusion, Giggs did as I said. A few minutes later, he ended the call.
"Lin’s busy," he said. "She directed me to Banks."
"Who’s that?"
"A hacker on Denise’s team."
"What did he say?"
"Agnum Group is rather secretive. But what’s known is that it’s built like a cult.
Rather than power being shared among members, which would allow for democracy, they operate more like a monarchy.
The noble title of ’Baron’ is given to their undisputed leader."
"Okay... and what does this leader look like—"
Getting out of the car, I left an unhappy Giggs behind and crossed the road toward the front of the Quintell Abulak.
A man in a red uniform swung the door open for me.
"Welcome, sir."
I smiled at the man.
As I stepped inside the building, a shiver ran through me from the cool temperature.
On the ground floor, several people moved about, everyone seeming to know exactly where they were going—everyone except me.
I paused, observing the building’s interior.
"Oh well."
After a few seconds, I finally marched forward.
First things first, I hit the stores—going in and out of shops, earning a few glares until I found what I needed.
A black tracksuit with a hoodie, and I added a white face cap for effect.
When I left the shop, I had on a fresh outfit, my hands in the pockets of my jacket, and my hoodie pulled over the white cap.
Without delay, I got on the escalator, my eyes scanning the ground floor as I ascended.
Reaching the top, I turned left and, after a few steps, stood before an elevator.
When the door chimed open, I stepped to the side, letting two teenage girls out before entering.
37.
"Hold it!" a voice shouted just as the elevator was about to close. I stuck out my hand, stopping the door.
"Thank you," a man in a blue suit said as he stepped in. I nodded silently.
He saw the floor I had selected and smiled at me.
We stood quietly as the elevator ascended.
Along the way, several people joined and exited.
Finally, after a few minutes, we arrived at our destination. I let the man in the blue suit go out first.
"You’re such a good fellow," he said, then walked ahead to join a group of around six people dressed in a mix of black and blue suits.
"See! I told you he’d pick this floor! After this, let’s go collect our money!" he roared, turning back toward me as his friends cheered.
My expression didn’t change as I stepped into the large club room.
It was mostly empty, with a disco ball hanging from the ceiling at its centre.
I already had a plan of where to go next, but the man in the blue suit and his friends moved into my path and blocked me.
"Sorry, sir. This is the end of the road."
The moment those words were spoken, everyone in the group pulled out black pistols and pointed them at me.
"You guys actually made a bet on which floor I’d go to?"
"Yeah. There’s a group waiting for you on each of the top floors. I was supposed to be with one of them, but I couldn’t resist making things more exciting.
You seem like a nice guy, just follow us, so we don’t have to complicate things."
