Re: Strongest Necromancer with the Extraction Talent-Chapter 59: Penthouse
With Nana cradled securely on one arm, Liora opened the gigantic refrigerator. Interior LEDs flared like a second sunrise.
"Can we fill it with ice cream and pudding cups?" Nana asked, eyes wide.
"If Kai agrees, we’ll fill a whole shelf," Liora promised, giving a gentle kiss on Nana’s hair.
Beside the fridge, a marble island stretched long enough for a banquet. Darius ran a calloused hand over its surface. "This stone feels cooler than ice, even in this sunshine," he marveled.
Nana pointed at the induction cooktop. Digital numbers flickered on. "In Culinary Princess, the chef had one of these! She made rainbow steak!"
"Rainbow steak?" Darius blinked. "Is that... edible?"
"It sparkles!" Nana declared, the blanket sliding a bit as she gestured wildly. Liora adjusted her grip, smiling.
They eased down a hallway toward a private library. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves formed a maze with an automated ladder gliding along silent rails.
Liora gently settled Nana onto a padded swivel chair at the rolling desk so she could spin and see everything.
Liora selected a volume embossed with silver glyphs. "Is it okay to touch?" she asked, almost reverent.
"Kai said this is our home now," Darius replied, handing the book to Nana so she could trace the inlaid designs. "We should act like it."
Nana’s sharp eyes spotted a section of shelving slightly ajar.
"Secret door!" she gasped. Darius wheeled her chair closer and nudged the panel open to reveal a small elevator clad in bronze.
The cab was wide enough for Liora to wheel the chair in. Nana clapped as softly humming mechanisms whisked them smoothly to the second floor.
When the doors parted, warm daylight spilled over a gallery hallway lined with abstract paintings whose colors shifted subtly as they moved.
Nana craned her neck. "They change like holograms in Detective Foxfire," she whispered, enthralled.
At the corridor’s end waited a master bedroom almost larger than their entire old house. A four-poster bed draped in sheer silver curtains anchored the space, holographic constellations drifting lazily across a pale-blue domed ceiling lit by skylights.
Darius exhaled a shaky breath. "I don’t even dare sit on that."
Liora settled Nana onto the mattress. The child sank into it, delight sparkling in her gaze.
"I could watch movies, series, and others here forever," she sighed, gazing up at the shimmering sky-mural instead of stars.
Beyond a glass door lay a private terrace and an infinity pool that gleamed aquamarine under the high noon sun. Steam curled lazily where water warmed the air.
"Is that water warm?" Nana asked.
"Heated, I’d guess," Darius answered.
"This is where the heroine confesses during the summer festival fireworks," Nana mused, hugging a silken pillow to her chest.
They explored ensuite bathrooms whose mirrors projected makeup tutorials when tapped, Nana squealed again, and a walk-in closet whose lights followed their steps like polite spirits.
Every new discovery summoned another delighted gasp or hushed comparison to one of Nana’s beloved dramas.
A while later they gathered in a cozy den on the mezzanine. Floor cushions ringed a holographic projector.
Darius wheeled Nana’s chair into the center, but she shook her head, lifting her arms. "Mom, couch snuggles," she pleaded.
Liora obliged, settling with Nana curled against her side. The little girl’s legs were limp, but her anticipation danced bright. "Can we watch something? I want to see what dramas look like on a screen that big!"
"We should wait for Kai," Darius said, smoothing Nana’s hair. "He might want to choose the first show."
Nana’s pout lasted only a moment before curiosity ignited again. "Then let’s keep exploring!" she declared.
They descended in the elevator to the first floor’s far wing, discovering a fully stocked gym. Dumbbells glinted in polished rows; a training dummy generated holographic opponents at a button press.
Darius’s expression turned resolute. "I’ll finally have space to rebuild my strength."
Nana reached to tap the dummy’s control panel. "And I’ll practice hero poses—even if I’m sitting," she vowed, thrusting a miniature fist skyward.
A soft ding echoed from the door as the smart home system announced someone rang the bell from outside.
"Who is it? Is it her?" Liora asked, thinking about the princess who had made a deal with Kai.
"Let’s go together." Darius shrugged his shoulders as he didn’t want to think about such things.
When they opened the huge door, they immediately became happy, as the person who rang the bell was Kai.
"It seems that you have explored the place thoroughly." Kai smiled, looking at his family’s happy expressions.
"Brother Kai!" Nana exclaimed, opening her arms widely.
"Do you like our new home?" Kai picked Nana from Liora’s arms and pinched her cheek.
"Hmmm-hmmm... Nana really likes it!" Nana nodded her head, then clenched her fists cutely as she explained. "The place is so big and even better than some places in the dramas that I’ve watched!"
"Oh, really?" Kai smiled in response.
Subsequently, Nana showed Kai around excitedly since this was basically her big bro’s house. Naturally, Kai was also surprised by the sight of the penthouse, but he showed a calm expression as he didn’t want to look like a country bumpkin.
Enjoying her little sister’s excitement in showing him around, Kai decided to start his plan as he secretly ordered 10 Undead Beasts in skeleton form to be scattered around and found the source that killed the little princess of the Aurelius family in his previous life.
After he logged out, he met with Cedric and had a quick talk, then prepared 11 Undead Beasts in advance before going here.
Not only that, Kai summoned Elias, the fire lion, and his first undead goblin, letting them look around since he didn’t want to restrain Elias and let him be free as if a normal person.
Elias was more than happy as he could have his freedom and immediately looked around the apartment, which surprised everyone, including the awakeners who were in the lobby when they couldn’t see the three’s information.
Making them realize and feel relieved as they thought to themselves that Elias and the others must have reached 1st Echelon Ranks.
