Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 140: The First Date (3)
Chapter 140: The First Date (3)
They ended up eating junk food—a grilled mozzarella cheeseburger without green, Alex’s usual comfort food.
When Aurora suggested this burger earlier, she noticed excitement beaming from Alex’s eyes.
As they enjoyed their meal, they shared stories about their hobbies. She knows everything about his hobbies and whatnot. Yet, she continues asking questions to keep the conversation flowing and enjoyable for both.
Every time Alex asked her about herself, she genuinely answered him.
Aurora was unsure whether Alex was aware of her past. If he knew, she was certain this man would be confused again. But she no longer cared. Right now, she just tried to be herself!
Once they had finished their burger, Alex turned to her and asked, "How do you know I like grilled mozzarella cheeseburgers without green? I never knew there was someone else who knew that I liked it a lot." His curious stare made her smile.
She wanted to hear this so she would have a reason to answer him honestly, even though she knew her answer would be useless.
"Because I’m Rory! I know everything you like, and you don’t like..." She said that, but of course, Alex only saw her stare at him without saying anything.
"Aurora, why do you have that look on your face? Are you hoping for a kiss?" His charming words left her momentarily speechless.
Aurora immediately shook her head.
"I like burgers and wanted to eat here with you." She responded randomly to him, feeling relieved that this man believed her.
"I’m glad I could accompany you tonight," he said, putting aside all those empty boxes between them before placing his hand on her waist and pulling her to sit close to him.
They were so close that they could truly feel each other’s warmth.
Aurora was surprised by his gesture but didn’t mind; she somewhat enjoyed his arm resting on her back and sitting so close that she could feel his warmth.
They remained seated for another minute, taking in the scenery, until a thought struck Aurora, prompting her to ask him something.
With a gentle smile, she turned to him and said, "Alex, may I ask you something personal?"
When she saw him frown slightly before nodding, she added, "If you don’t want to answer, it’s fine." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"I will try to answer you honestly," he responded casually, even though he began to feel nervous about her question.
"Do you have feelings for your former assistant, Rory?" She tried to sound casual, yet her heart raced wildly.
It would be a lie if he said he wasn’t shocked to hear her question. He really was!
Alex didn’t know how to respond to that. He was worried that his words might hurt her feelings, and that was the last thing he wanted to do tonight—he didn’t want to ruin their first date.
Yet, noticing her sincerity and curiosity, he chose to be straightforward.
"Do you seriously want to hear that?" he asked.
Aurora nodded. She certainly needed to hear that. Although she could already guess his answer, she genuinely wanted to listen to it directly.
Alex could sense the calmness in her gaze, yet he found it difficult to see her eyes whenever he talked about Aurora Moon.
Turning his gaze back to the city scenery, Alex began to open up about his true feelings for Aurora Moon—he only liked her when she was no longer alive—and shared how he had come to deal with the sudden loss, allowing him to move forward and heal his shattered heart.
He finished speaking, saying, "Aurora, I’m sorry... although I’m not in love with you yet, I want you to know that I feel curious and wish to get to know you better. This emotion is quite unfamiliar to me. Please allow me some time. I promise you won’t regret becoming my wife..."
His eyes gazed at her, reflecting a blend of emotions stirred in his heart.
After just a brief moment of wordless gazes, Aurora felt a rush of overwhelming emotions. His heartbreaking confession deeply pained her.
’How could he realize his true feelings for me only after I passed away? Why didn’t he express them before?’ Aurora pondered. Her mind was filled with questions that made her heart tremble and ache.
To her, it felt surreal. Alex liked Aurora Moon, her previous self, and now he is trying to accept her new self. Without his knowing, he is actually dealing with two people.
’God, can we just skip this? Just allow me to tell him the truth about myself?’ She expressed frustration while staring at the lonely moon in the dark sky above.
When Aurora felt Alex holding her hand and gently squeezing it, she turned her gaze back to him.
A gentle smile graced her lips as she replied, "Alex, you don’t need to apologize to me. I understand. Like you, I’m also learning to embrace my true feelings for you..."
He felt relief upon hearing her sincere words and saw her smile. "That sounds good. So, do you think this is the day we start?"
"Yeah, our first date. The day we’re starting to get to know each other..." she said softly, blushing as she remembered being a teenager in love for the first time.
...
After a heartfelt conversation and a delightful first-date dinner, they decided to head home, as it was getting late and the air was freezing.
Just as they arrived home, Alex received an unexpected call from Patrick.
"Man, I know you are in love with your wife, but can you please not date in public spaces? Let alone a public park."
Standing beside him, Aurora was shocked to hear Patrick’s loud voice.
"Huh? Are you saying someone took a picture of my wife and me and posted it on social media?" Alex asked, confused by how that could happen when his team secured the area.
"Indeed! The picture has become a trending topic across all major social media platforms. I’ve done my best to clean up those pictures, but I do not doubt that the news of your new girlfriend will be a popular topic in the coming days."
"I understand! I appreciate the update, man..." Alex hung up and glanced at Aurora, worried in his eyes. "I owe you an apology, Aurora."
