Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Making Decisions

"You’re looking for me?" Grace Wilson walked into the lounge, curiously looking at the unfamiliar woman inside.

She liked dressing up, but the things she used were all inexpensive, and Grace didn’t know this kind of person at all.

"Miss Wilson." Eva thought she was quite good at dressing up, but as soon as Grace Wilson entered, she felt like an ugly duckling next to a swan, making her awkwardly at a loss.

"You are..." Grace looked at Eva in confusion. She thought carefully and had never seen this person before.

"Miss Wilson, I’m an employee from the branch office." Eva quickly said.

"Branch office? Why are you looking for me?" Grace asked in bewilderment.

"Miss Wilson, you must stand up for me!" Eva suddenly cried as if seeing a family member, startling Grace, "What’s wrong with you?"

"Miss Wilson, Sophie Wilson, she... she’s relying on being the boss’s daughter and insisting on firing me. Just because a man who pursued her became my boyfriend, she can’t stand me." Grace spoke with apprehension, but this was her last chance.

She had only heard that the boss had a daughter named Grace Wilson and had never heard of anyone named Sophie Wilson.

Since her uncle said Sophie Wilson was the boss’s youngest daughter, it couldn’t be false, but... this youngest daughter, who was never mentioned, seemingly wasn’t valued.

"What? Sophie did such a thing?" Grace nearly burst into laughter upon hearing this, but she reacted quickly, forcibly twisting her laughter into shock.

The emotional switch was so fast that it distorted her features, looking quite ugly.

"What’s your name? Tell me the details." Grace hurriedly pursued.

"My name is Eva, and here’s what happened..." Eva exaggerated and recounted the events, portraying Sophie Wilson as an oppressor bullying the weak under the guise of the boss’s daughter.

Of course, the weak one was Eva.

After Eva left the main office, her face showed the pleasure of vengeance. She wouldn’t believe it; this time Sophie Wilson wouldn’t be doomed!

If Sophie Wilson wouldn’t let her live peacefully, Sophie herself shouldn’t have a good time either!

——

Having just tidied up her things, Sophie hadn’t entered the elevator when the phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she waved to her colleagues entering the elevator: "You guys go ahead, I’m taking a call."

"Mom..."

"Sophie Wilson, get back here at once!" As soon as the call was connected, Lily Warren’s roar came through.

Sophie furrowed her brows, responding, "Okay."

After speaking, she hung up the phone and headed downstairs.

The elevator was crowded with people leaving work, but among so many, Sophie felt no warmth, only coldness all over her body.

Since childhood, her mom never liked her.

Each time, she’d watch her mom care for and pamper her sister. As a child, she would ask her dad why. After listening to her, her dad would scold her mom, which resulted in her dad going to work and her mom’s abuse.

Once, twice... after a few times, she became obedient and never asked her dad again.

That’s also why, after a severe illness, upon Grace Wilson’s "suggestion," she chose to move out from home and rent a place near the branch office.

Because, during that illness, she realized the increasing impatience in her mom’s eyes.

It’s best not to stay under her mom’s constant watch to avoid being irritating.
