Rebirth in the 90s: Melting My Devoted Mr. Iceberg-Chapter 116: Can You Afford It?
Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Can You Afford It?
Leaving Chen’s house, Jiang Xue was also worried that carrying so much money would attract unwanted attention. So she found a nearby agricultural bank, opened an account, and deposited the money.
Of course, she didn’t deposit all of it, leaving five thousand in her personal space as a backup.
Since she’d earned some money and it was still early, Jiang Xue didn’t rush back home. Instead, she found a place to have lunch.
After lunch, she went to browse the department store and bought some clothes. Even though she had quite a few clothes at home, there really weren’t any suitable for going out.
Those clothes were fine for wearing at home, but outside, they’d look too dowdy.
Jiang Xue went through the department store and didn’t just buy clothes for herself. She bought a set for her in-laws, her parents, and several sets for the kids.
As for Mu Qiancheng’s clothes, she initially didn’t plan to buy any. She thought since Mu Qiancheng spent most of his time in his military uniform, buying clothes would just go unused.
But then she thought, how could she buy for everyone else and not buy for him? After all, he was her husband.
So after some consideration, she went to the men’s section to pick out an outfit for Mu Qiancheng.
The men’s section was on the fourth floor. After reaching the fourth floor and browsing around, Jiang Xue didn’t see anything that caught her eye and was about to leave when she ran into Wang Ziwen.
"Jiang Xue!" Wang Ziwen saw Jiang Xue and smiled, asking, "Are you buying men’s clothes? Is it for your husband?"
"Wang Ziwen, what are you doing here?" Jiang Xue was surprised to see Wang Ziwen again, having just bumped into him on the bus this morning. Running into him again at the department store seemed like fate.
"I came to buy some clothes and didn’t expect to see you again. It must be destiny." Wang Ziwen laughed, teasing her.
"It really is." Jiang Xue laughed, glanced at the bags he was holding, and asked, "Did you finish your shopping?"
"Yeah, I’m done. You haven’t found anything yet, right? Need some advice? Or maybe I can model for you?" Wang Ziwen joked.
"I haven’t seen anything I like here, so I’m planning to look elsewhere."
"I know a place on the pedestrian street. But the prices are a bit steep; do you want to check it out?"
"Sure, I’d appreciate it if you could show me the way."
"Let’s go!"
Jiang Xue followed Wang Ziwen to the pedestrian street. Luckily, the pedestrian street wasn’t far from the department store, just separated by a small alley.
Upon arriving at the pedestrian street, Wang Ziwen led Jiang Xue directly to a men’s clothing store.
When Jiang Xue entered the store, she noticed the clothes were of good quality, with a great texture. So she picked out a set and asked the shop assistant to take it down for her to see.
The shop assistant, a young girl, glanced at Jiang Xue’s plain attire and sarcastically said, "Miss, if you ask me to take down this clothing, you’ll have to buy it. Are you sure you can afford it?"
"How do you know I can’t afford it?" Jiang Xue looked calmly at the shop assistant, thinking it’s typical to encounter people who judge others based on appearances.
Was it necessary to act like this just because she was dressed simply?
"Look at what you’re wearing. I’d be surprised if you could afford it." The shop assistant looked at Jiang Xue with disdain, not believing she could afford clothes from this store.
After all, even the cheapest clothes here cost at least two hundred yuan. And Jiang Xue, all together, didn’t seem like she was wearing fifty yuan.
With this poverty-stricken appearance, it’s hard to believe she could afford anything here.
