Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse-Chapter 145: Expansion 4
Before the refinery mission, Team Legends was lowkey and relatively unknown.
As a result, the team seemed to have come out of nowhere when it achieved big things during the mission and even purchased territory, becoming the only team that could afford to do so.
On close inspection, everyone felt Team Legends had an agenda.
After all, since the team had such strength, why did they hide until the very last minute?
Encountering another Human Alliance that seemed to have come out of nowhere, the base leaders were naturally suspicious.
"The Human Alliance reserved district nine, right?" Someone asked, and the assistant nodded before speaking.
"District Nine is neither the riskiest nor the safest. It’s moderately risky." He said.
"How are they dealing with the zombies?"
"Weapons." The assistant stated, narrowed his eyes, and soon continued.
"They have truckloads of thermal weapons and some crystal weapons."
"Crystal weapons? Are they some of ours or..." Fang Chongtian started and turned to Chu Jianfeng.
"Old Chu, are they some of yours?"
Hearing the question, Chu Jianfeng shook his head but had a thoughtful expression.
Qi Shu was part of his Chu faction.
However, manufacturing crystal weapons was a tedious and expensive process.
As a result, his Chu family barely had enough crystal weapons to meet its needs, let alone meet other people’s needs.
Thinking of this, he again shook his head and spoke.
"My Chu family has not sold any crystal weapons to the Human Alliance." He said.
"Could it be crystal weapon rewards from the refinery mission?" Fang Chongtian wondered, but the assistant shook his head.
"The crystal weapons of the Human Alliance are different from those of the research institute and the Chu family." He informed, and several people gasped.
"The Human Alliance has a crystal weapons engineer?" Someone asked.
"It’s highly likely."
"It seems we need to keep a close eye on the Human Alliance."
While the base leaders were discussing, Mo Chenxuan and his people were killing zombies left and right.
On this day, the team was about to enter a building when they heard a cacophony of gunfire.
This sound was not uncommon, and everyone had gotten used to it.
However, after three minutes of gunfire, Mo Chenxuan frowned and extended his spiritual ability to the left territory.
A moment later, his frown deepened, and a trace of unease appeared on his eyebrows.
Seeing the look, Qin Wu raised an eyebrow, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before sending a sound transmission.
[Our left neighbours have encountered trouble.] He said.
[What kind of trouble?]
[Not sure yet...]
While speaking, Mo Chenxuan observed the situation and subconsciously narrowed his eyes.
The left neighbours were anxiously shooting at a building.
From what he could see, some ability users had tried to breach a building, only to rush out several seconds later.
Unfortunately, they ran out, but a brownish-yellow cloud chased behind them.
The cloud simultaneously looked like dust and mist.
After touching it, the ability users collapsed and were dragged into the building.
At first, Mo Chenxuan couldn’t see what dragged the people into the building, but when he looked closer, he saw thousands of brown insects.
"Stink bugs." He muttered and subconsciously frowned.
[What about stink bugs?] Qin Wu questioned.
[The left neighbours have encountered a hive of mutated stink bugs. There are at least one hundred thousand of them.]
[One hundred thousand...] Qin Wu was horrified.
On one hand, she was worried the left neighbours would be wiped out, and on the other, she feared the bugs would spill over to their territory.
[Can they handle it?] She asked.
[The strongest bug is mid level two and is not a match for the ability users. However, ...]
[However?]
[Their fart seems to be poisonous and flammable. Dealing with it is going to be troublesome.]
Mo Chenxuan was right.
After discovering that the mist was flammable, the fire element ability users stepped back and gave way to other superpowers.
Unfortunately, the poisonous mist was extremely difficult to deal with, and several ability users were poisoned to death before the group stumbled on a solution.
In her panic, a wood-type ability user attacked the mist with a plant.
Unexpectedly, the plant absorbed the mist but soon withered and died.
Seeing this, more wood-type superpowers came forward and used plants to absorb the poison.
Fortunately, the stink bugs couldn’t endlessly fart poisonous gas.
After one fart, this ability would enter a cooldown period and wouldn’t recharge for at least one hour.
In this one-hour window, the members of the superpower guild desperately attacked the stink bugs.
However, the bugs were too many and the ability users couldn’t match up.
This fight lasted two days and one night, but eventually, the left neighbours destroyed the stink bug hive.
"I hope we don’t encounter such a hive." Qin Wu said and subconsciously muttered.
"Are you sure? One hundred thousand stink bugs equate to one hundred thousand crystal cores." Mo Chenxuan stated in a teasing voice.
"Speaking of crystal cores..." Qin Wu started and looked to the left.
As she hoped, three ability users arrived a day later.
These people belonged to the superpower guild and came over to ask for purified crystal cores.
Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn’t refuse.
After discussing the exchange rate and delivery day, the three left, and Qin Wu put away the one hundred thousand crystal cores.
"These crystal cores are just right to replenish our treasury." She said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before speaking.
"It’s too bad there are no level three." He said, but still appreciated the business.
After all, they had thousands of subordinates, and each required a salary.
Mo Chenxuan, Qin Wu, and their army diligently cleaned up District Eight, and before they knew it, it was the seventeenth day of the month.
After weeks of hard work, the group had mostly cleaned up the territory and was down to the last twenty acres.
However, these twenty acres could be said to be one big unit.
"We can’t use ordinary methods to reclaim this area." Qin Wu said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
After all, the last twenty acres were a large stadium and its accompanying structures.
