Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse-Chapter 91: Unease
Chapter 91: Unease
"Good." Xuanyuan Yi nodded.
Although his team did not do as well as team Legends in block C, he felt block B gave them an advantage.
For that reason, he did not hesitate when Mo Chenxuan suggested to settle the gamble first.
After that, the two sides gathered their zombie corpses and began counting.
"Team Overlord has five hundred and nine while team Legends has five hundred and eleven." Qin Wu stated when the results were tallied.
"How is that possible?" Murong Xue couldn’t help but be surprised.
"We clearly have more zombie corpses." She continued.
"Team Legends has two level three zombie corpses. Just these two amount to two hundred corpses."
"What? Level three? Did they really face a level three zombie?"
"See for yourself. The corpses are right there."
"But..., is it really possible? Vice-captain Qin is the strongest in team Legends but she is only a peak stage level two superpower. Can she really defeat two level three zombies?"
"This..."
"Maybe the zombies were not very combative."
"Either way, we lost."
No one in team Overlord had a good face.
After all, the loss was not small and even team Overlord couldn’t completely ignore it.
Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do.
"I will first pay sixty thousand crystal cores. The rest will be paid when we return to the base." Xuanyuan Yi said through gritted teeth.
"That’s acceptable." Mo Chenxuan said.
Soon after, the two sides settled their debts and team Overlord retreated from block C.
"It’s almost dark. Let’s leave this area after finding what we need. Mo Chenxuan suggested and the others readily agreed.
Soon after, Qin Wu collected all the useable things in block C before the team left the hospital.
When they returned to the place they rested the previous night, everyone settled down and prepared to rest for the night.
However, Qin Wu couldn’t help but feel a little restless.
Seeing this, Mo Chenxuan erected a spiritual barrier around them and looked at the woman; his right eyebrow raised in question.
"What’s wrong?" He asked.
"Team Overlord has been following us since we left the base." Qin Wu stated the obvious before continuing in a voice filled with resentment.
"As a result, we haven’t had a chance to raid the arsenal. Brother Chenxuan, can we still get the weapons before returning to the base?"
Mo Chenxuan frowned when he heard the question.
In fact, he was also worried about this matter.
However, there was nothing he could do about team Overlord and could only let them stick to their tesm.
’What bad luck.’ Mo Chenxuan couldn’t help but secretly curse.
Technically, team Legends didn’t have to retrieve the weapons during this trip.
However, Mo Chenxuan hoped they would because there were many things to do and the schedule was very tight.
Thinking about it, Mo Chenxuan frowned and subconsciously looked outside the window to where team Overlord was staying.
"Except killing them, I don’t see a way to avoid them for the time being." He unconsciously muttered.
"I also can’t think of one."
"Wu’er, if worse comes to worst, we won’t retrieve the weapons during this trip." Mo Chenxuan said and quickly continued to prevent Qin Wu from stepping in.
"Later, you and I will return to collect the weapons."
"There is no other way." Qin Wu sighed but felt a little aggrieved.
After all, she and Mo Chenxuan planned everything down to the last detail.
Unfortunately, they encountered team Overlord and ended up deviating from their original plan.
"Don’t worry about it." Mo Chenxuan reassured while rubbing Qin Wu’s hair.
"Brother Chenxuan, is there something else on your mind?"
"Can you tell?"
"You seem a little agitated."
"Agitated?" Mo Chenxuan sighed.
He was indeed a little agitated.
However, he and Qin Wu were outside and couldn’t enter the space for privacy.
"I will tell when it’s just us." Qin Wu said, causing Mo Chenxuan to look at her with worried eyes.
"Don’t worry. Everything is going to be okay."
Team Overlord and team Legends left the area the following morning.
Unlike when they came, the two teams did not take detours and instead rushed to the base.
This rush lasted three days.
On the afternoon of the fourth day, several cars arrived at the south entrance and prepared to enter the base.
"Captain Mo, the crystal cores will be delivered within three days." Song Feng informed and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
"Thank you." He said and Song Feng stared at him for a long moment before looking away.
Because the research centre had developed a new virus testing kit, entering the base was relatively easy.
After queueing for ten minutes, the two teams were tested and isolated for a short while before being allowed to enter the base.
This time, team Overlord neither waited nor insisted on following team Legends.
Instead, they rushed to the mission hall to hand over their tasks.
Seeing this, Lin Rongrong frowned.
"Brother Mo, will they go back on their word and try to hand over the ultra-sound mission?’ She asked.
Everyone was startled when they heard this question.
After glancing at each other, team Legends also rushed to the mission hall.
Fortunately, the members of team Overlord did not go back on their words.
Although they were reluctant to give up the ultra-sound mission, they kept their word and did not try to claim points for their contribution in the completion of the mission.
’I would respect team Overlord if I didn’t know Xuanyuan Yi’s true character.’ Qin Wu thought when she saw team Overlord’s behaviour.
Unfortunately, she had a previous life and knew Xuanyuan Yi and team Overlord.
No matter how amicable they seemed, she remembered their cruelty and mad plots.
"You are back. Do you want to hand over the missions?" The clerk asked.
This was the same clerk they had encountered on previous visits to the mission hall.
Having served them several times, the clerk couldn’t help but be surprised that team Legends actually completed their tasks and did so in such a short amount of time.
Most importantly, she knew team Overlord was eyeing team Legends.
Unexpectedly, team Legends survived after being eyed by a poisonous tyrant.
’Interesting.’ She thought but didn’t dare to say it out loud.
Instead, she focused on recording the tasks and allocating the necessary points.
"Team Legends has officially become a rank A team. Congratulations." She said.
"Thank you." Qin Wu smiled at the woman.
"Are you planning to take more tasks?"
"Not for the time being." Qin Wu sighed.
Although there was a lot to be done, their team had been running around since arriving in the city B base.
Now that they had become a rank A team, Mo Chenxuan didn’t plan to let the team take more missions until the oil refinery task.
"In that case, have a good rest."
After that, team Legends left the mission hall and returned to the villa area.
Once there, everyone separated and Qin Wu pulled Mo Chenxuan to their bedroom on the third floor.
"Wu’er..." Mo Chenxuan called but Qin Wu interrupted him.
"Brother Chenxuan, what has been making you restless the past few days?" She questioned.
Mo Chenxuan frowned when he heard the question.
At the same time, he pulled Qin Wu to enter the space.
"Wu’er, look at this." He said and rolled up his right sleeve.
A moment later, a flawless arm was unveiled until Mo Chenxuan rolled up his sleeve to the elbow.
"This..." Qin Wu exclaimed, suddenly grabbing the man’s arm.
"What’s this?" She asked, looking at an angry scratch that was almost three centimetres long.
"Brother Chenxuan..."
"It’s what you think." Mo Chenxuan sighed.
"But how? Wait..., how were you not discovered during the physical inspection?"
"Have you forgotten? My spiritual ability can cover this small injury." Mo Chenxuan said with a doting look.
"How did..."
"It was the invisible zombie." Mo Chenxuan started and quickly continued.
"Before the door opened, I knew the number and levels of zombies we were going to face. However, after the door opened, I immediately noticed that one level three zombie was missing."
"Unfortunately, although I reacted fast, I wasn’t fast enough and was accidentally scratched on my arm."
Qin Wu shivered when she heard this.
Her heart was in turmoil and an insane pain filled her heart.
For a moment, she recalled the pain of losing Mo Chenxuan in her previous life and her eyes filled with red.
"You were too reckless." She angrily shouted.
"I know. I am sorry." The man said, trying to ease Qin Wu’s discomfort.
"Brother Chenxuan, don’t let me lose you."
"I know. I will be more careful in the future." He promised and Qin Wu burst into tears.
For half an hour, Qin Wu cried until she could no longer cry.
When she finally regained her composure, she turned to Mo Chenxuan, her eyes wider than copper bells.
"You didn’t turn into a zombie." She exclaimed and hurriedly began to examine the injury.
