Rebirth: My Reclusive Husband Helps Me Get Revenge!-Chapter 87
Nangong Leili was helped out of the ambulance, two nurses holding her hands as the staff from the estate rushed to them, to take her in.
Nangong Leili was helped out of the ambulance, her frail figure swaying slightly as two nurses carefully steadied her by the arms. Her eyes, though dulled by age and illness, flickered with faint recognition as she gazed at the grand facade of the Nangong estate. It was as if something deep within her stirred, trying to claw its way back to the surface.
The staff from the estate hurried forward, their movements precise but gentle, ready to assist in transferring her into the house. One of them, a woman dressed in a crisp uniform, took the lead.
"Careful with her," Lixue said sharply, stepping closer, her gaze fixed on her mother. "She’s delicate. Don’t rush her."
"Yes, Madam," the woman responded immediately, gesturing for the others to proceed with care.
Nangong Leili’s lips trembled, and her fingers curled weakly against the nurse’s hand as she tried to speak. Her mouth opened, but no words came out—only a soft, strained sound that echoed with her effort. Her eyes darted around, taking in the familiar sight of the estate she hadn’t seen in years.
"Mother?" Lixue’s voice was soft now, almost hesitant. She stepped forward, her heart aching as she watched her mother struggle to form words. "Do you recognize this place?"
Leili’s eyes met Lixue’s, and for a fleeting moment, there was clarity. Her hand lifted slightly, trembling, as if she wanted to reach for her daughter. Then her gaze shifted back to the estate, her brows knitting together as if she was trying to piece together a long-forgotten memory.
"She knows," Lixue whispered, her chest tightening. "She remembers something."
One of the nurses leaned in, her voice gentle. "It’s common for patients to recognize familiar places or feel a sense of connection, even if they can’t articulate it. Being here might help her feel more grounded."
As they moved her toward the entrance, Leili’s hand tightened slightly on the nurse’s arm. She tried again to speak, her lips forming faint shapes, but the sounds were incoherent. A flicker of frustration crossed her face, but it quickly gave way to exhaustion.
"She’s tired," Lixue observed, a knot forming in her stomach. She reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her mother’s forehead. "It’s okay, Mother. You don’t have to say anything. Just rest."
The butler, Chen, appeared at the door, holding it open. "The sickroom is ready, Madam. Shall we take her directly there?"
"Yes," Lixue said, nodding firmly. "Take her there."
As they entered the estate, the grandeur of the house seemed to soften around Nangong Leili. Her gaze flitted to the high ceilings, the ornate chandeliers, and the sprawling staircase. There was recognition in her eyes again, this time deeper, as if the house itself was drawing her back to memories she had long buried.
When they reached the sickroom, the nurses carefully settled Leili into the bed, adjusting the pillows to support her frail frame. The medical equipment hummed softly in the background, a stark contrast to the warm, homely atmosphere the room exuded.
Lixue knelt by the bedside, her hand resting lightly on her mother’s. "You’re safe now, Mother. This is your home."
Leili’s eyes flickered to her daughter, and her lips moved again, but still, no words came. Tears welled in Lixue’s eyes as she leaned closer. "It’s okay," she whispered. "I’ll take care of you. You don’t have to fight alone anymore."
From the corner of the room, her grandfather watched in silence. His expression was unreadable, but the slight clench of his hands betrayed the emotions he was keeping in check. This was his daughter, the woman who had left his home all those years ago, now back under his roof but a shadow of who she once was.
"She’ll need time," one of the nurses said softly, breaking the silence. "Familiar surroundings can help, but her condition won’t improve overnight. We’ll do everything we can to make her comfortable."
"Thank you," Lixue said, her voice steady despite the storm of emotions within her. She turned to her grandfather, her gaze firm. "This is her home now. No matter what happens, she stays here."
"Of course," Nangong Juntiao replied, his voice quiet but resolute. "This is where she belongs."
Lixue nodded as looked at Yan, it was time they left, her mother was space, Mo Ran’s men was here, it was time to for her to say goodbye.
Leaning closer, Lixue smiled "Mum, stay here and get better, I’ll go out and conquer the world, I’ll bring honor to your name.."
She kissed Nangong Leili on the cheek as she stood straight and took a step back.
Then turned to walk out of the room, she nodded at her grandfather as the butler walked her to the door.
She turned to give the house one last glance, before stepping out.
Now she had other things to take care of, she would entrust her mother’s care to the staffs.
"Ready to go? Madam?"
Yan asked as Lixue nodded, getting into the car.
"Take me to dream entertainment, I’m ready.."
The car pulled up to Dream Entertainment, the building towering over the street like a gleaming beacon of ambition. Lixue stared up at it for a moment, her fingers tightening briefly around the strap of her bag before she stepped out.
Her heart was steady this time. No hesitation, no fear—only resolve.
This wasn’t her first time here, but it was the first time she walked in without hiding herself. She hadn’t worn the plain mask that she used to shield her face. She didn’t need it anymore. If they were going to doubt her, they could do it while staring at her directly.
As Lixue strode through the glass doors, every head in the lobby turned toward her. Conversations halted mid-sentence. Phones hovered forgotten in mid-air. The pristine, professional space suddenly felt like it had been dropped into slow motion as her presence rippled through the room.
Her beauty wasn’t the kind that crept up on you—it was immediate, startling, almost impossible to look away from. Her flawless porcelain skin, the sharp elegance of her jawline, and her luminous eyes were captivating. She was ethereal, untouchable. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
A male trainee near the reception whispered to his friend, "Who is that? Is she new?"
"She’s not new," the friend whispered back, just as mesmerized. "That’s her... the one who—"
"Quiet," a sharp voice from behind interrupted them.
The receptionist, clearly flustered, quickly gathered her composure and hurried to meet Lixue. "Good afternoon miss, how may I help? Do you have someone to meet here at Dream ent?"
Lixue shook her, her expression calm but commanding. She guessed no one would believe it was her under the mask. "No. I’m a trainee here, my name is Y.L. MongoIia?"
"...."
The receptionist couldn’t believe her ears, this was Y.L? This was the woman under the mask, staring at her, the receptionist had to believe, only Y.L held that kind of gaze.
"Y.L...you’re so beautiful, pardon me for not recognizing you. You have a recording session in room 6, I was about to..call you" the receptionist stammered not bearing to take her eyes off Lixue.
"Thank you, I’ll be heading up."
As the elevator doors closed, Lixue caught sight of several staff members still staring at her, their stunned faces a mix of awe and curiosity. She ignored them, but a small smile played at the corners of her lips.
When the elevator doors opened, she was greeted by a bustling hallway filled with staff, trainees, and sound engineers preparing for various projects. The hum of activity halted as soon as she stepped out.
"Who is that? A new one?" a girl in the corner whispered.
"She’s beautiful," another replied, their tone laced with envy.
Ignoring the whispers, Lixue walked confidently toward the recording studio, her head held high.
"Y.L!" A young sound engineer rushed to her, the people outside might not have been used to Lixue’s beauty but the ones inside where. "The studio is prepped, and the producer is ready. Shall we begin?"
She nodded, stepping into the familiar room. The last time she had been here, she’d left humiliated. Her voice had cracked during the recording session, and the memory still lingered like a ghost. But this time, she had prepared. This time, she would show them.
As she entered the booth, she saw Yu Jia sitting casually in a chair by the glass wall, sipping tea. Her half sister looked up, her eyes widening slightly as she took in Lixue’s appearance.
"Yu Lixue what the hell are you doing here?!" Yu Jia said, her tone a pitch high as she stood up from her sit.
Lixue met her gaze, unflinching. "I’m a trainee here, why wouldn’t I be here?"
"..."
Yu Jia’s almost coughed up blood as everything clicked, the woman under the mask was Yu Lixue, she was Y.L.
