Rebirth: My Reclusive Husband Helps Me Get Revenge!-Chapter 90: Who is Y.L??
Lixue laughed softly, the sound light and melodic. "Maybe. But for now, let’s talk about the real reason I came here."
Mo Ran raised a brow, his gaze searching hers. "And what reason would that be?"
Lixue shifted slightly on his lap, her fingers trailing casually along the edge of his jacket. Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "I’ve decided it’s time to take back what’s mine. No more hiding, no more waiting in the shadows."
Mo Ran’s brow furrowed, though there was a flicker of understanding in his eyes. "You’re talking about Dream Entertainment?."
She nodded, her expression growing serious. "I went there earlier today. I made my presence known. They saw what I’m capable of, and I made sure they’ll never doubt me again."
Mo Ran leaned forward slightly, his gaze intent. "What happened?"
"I handled it," she replied simply, her tone confident. "Yu Jia and everyone else at that studio now know I’m not someone to be underestimated. And that includes you." She tapped a finger lightly against his chest, her eyes narrowing playfully.
Mo Ran smirked, his hands tightening slightly around her waist. "I’ve never underestimated you, Lixue. If anything, I’ve always known exactly what you’re capable of."
Her lips twitched into a faint smile. "Good. Because I’m not stopping here. I’m going to build a name for myself, one that no one—not even Yu Jia—can tarnish."
Mo Ran studied her for a long moment, a mix of pride and admiration in his gaze. "Then I’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed."
"I don’t need you to fight my battles," she said firmly, though her tone softened as she added, "But knowing you’re behind me helps."
Mo Ran tilted his head, his smirk widening. "Behind you, beside you, in front of you, inside you —wherever you need me to be. You’re my wife, Lixue. Your battles are mine too."
Her heart skipped a beat at his words, though she masked it with a teasing laugh. "Careful, Mo Ran. You’re starting to sound romantic."
He chuckled, his hand lifting to brush a strand of hair from her face. "Only for you."
Their eyes locked, the playful banter giving way to a quieter, more intimate moment. For a brief second, the world outside the room seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them.
Then, Lixue straightened, breaking the moment. "Anyway, I didn’t come here to get all sentimental. I just wanted to let you know I’m ready to take on the world."
Mo Ran’s smirk returned, though there was a softness in his expression that hadn’t been there before. "And I’ll be right there with you."
Lixue slid off his lap, smoothing her dress as she stood. "Good. Now, go easy on your employees. They looked like they were about to have a collective breakdown when I walked in."
Mo Ran chuckled as he stood, adjusting his jacket. "They’ll survive. But next time, give me some warning before you crash a meeting."
She shot him a playful grin as she walked toward the door. "Where’s the fun in that?"
As she turned to leave, Mo Ran called out, "Lixue."
She paused, glancing over her shoulder.
"I’m proud of you," he said simply, his voice steady.
Her expression softened, a genuine smile curving her lips. "Thank you, hubby. I’ll be in your office, waiting for you.."
Lixue settled more comfortably in Mo Ran’s office chair, her fingers scrolling through Weibo as she casually passed the time. She wasn’t looking for anything in particular—just something to occupy her mind while she waited for him to finish his meetings. She wasn’t interested in her own name or fans. She didn’t even have an account as Y.L Mongolia. Instead, she found herself scrolling through posts about other popular artists.
Her eyes drifted over a post about a famous actor, known for his carefully curated image, and a recent commercial he’d done that fans were calling "cringe-worthy."
One comment read:
"I can’t believe they let him do this ad. It’s like watching paint dry."
Lixue smirked. Fans could be brutal when they didn’t like something.
Another user responded with:
"He’s just trying too hard to be relatable. Stick to what you’re good at, man."
Lixue chuckled under her breath, tapping her fingers against the phone as she scrolled down.
The next post was about a top idol, who had recently been caught in a live-stream with a major fashion mishap. They had awkwardly tried to adjust their outfit mid-stream, and the fans were tearing into it.
One comment read:
"How does someone so ’fashionable’ not even know how to adjust their shirt properly on camera? Please, get some help."
Another comment piled on:
"She’s not relatable, just trying to make herself seem ’chill.’ If you can’t even dress yourself, you shouldn’t be a fashion icon."
Lixue shook her head, bemused. These idols had the world at their feet, but the smallest mistakes could send their image tumbling. She continued to scroll, but then something caught her attention: a post about Yu Jia.
It was an announcement about her new album, set to release in the coming months. Lixue hadn’t been paying attention to her lately, but this post seemed to have stirred up some mixed opinions from the fans.
One comment from a fan read:
"Her voice is everything. Can’t wait for this new album. She’s going to slay!"
But others weren’t so convinced:
"She’s been playing it safe for years now. Can we get something fresh, something real?"
Another fan chimed in:
"Maybe she should take some notes from other noteworthy artists. They got that raw talent we need in this industry."
Lixue’s lips curled into a sly smile at the comment, but she didn’t let it distract her for too long. The comments continued to pour in:
"Yu Jia’s fans will defend her to the death, but can we get some originality from her this time around?"
A different user shot back:
"Just wait until Y.L.M releases her own work. It’s gonna be interesting to see who’s the real queen of the industry. Especially since she’s just a debutee."
Lixue’s fingers paused over the screen, taking in the buzz surrounding her name. She hadn’t been on the radar for long, but already, people were drawing comparisons. Some defending Yu Jia, others waiting for her to break into the scene.
How did they even know she existed?
Another comment from a fan:
"If Y.L Mongolia goes head-to-head with Yu Jia, we’ll see who’s truly got the talent. But that’s not hard to decide
after hearing that snippet."
Lixue froze, what snippet were they talking about?
As she was about to dig through, the door to the office clicked open, pulling her from her musings. Mo Ran stepped inside, looking a bit more weary than before but still radiating that quiet intensity that made him so captivating.
His gaze immediately softened when it landed on her.
"Done with the meeting?" Lixue asked, tapping the phone screen to lock it.
Mo Ran nodded, his gaze lingering on her for a moment before he closed the door behind him. "Finally. I needed a break from these endless emails."
She smiled lightly, standing from the chair. "I was just passing time, scrolling through the chaos on Weibo."
Mo Ran raised an eyebrow, amused. "Chaos?"
Lixue shrugged. "You know, the usual. People dragging idols over tiny mistakes. It’s actually kind of funny."
He chuckled softly, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Must be a good distraction from the real world."
"It’s better than dealing with the real world for a bit," Lixue replied, her voice light. "But some of these comments were... intense. They really tear people apart."
