The crowded streets of Valeria City lay before them as Orion and Elara walked away from the weapon shop, their next destination in mind—the Pill Shop of the Iron Fang Pavilion. In contrast to the ring of metal from the blacksmiths or the gossip of traders in the market, this neighborhood had an air of sophistication.
The aroma of exotic herbs and broken spirit ingredients intensified as they approached the large building. The entrance to the shop was indicated by a sweeping golden arch, delicate carvings of medicinal herbs tracing along its length. Within, refined wooden shelves covered the walls, rows of neatly labelled pill bottles and intricately carved jade boxes upon them. Every container glowed softly; an indication of the powerful magic contained within.
The air was heavy with the rich smell of alchemical substances, mixed with the delicate fragrance of incense. Attendants in sparkling uniforms glided with ease, conducting transactions with practiced finesse.
Elara drew a deep breath, her shining blue eyes expanding. "Brother, it smells so. fresh."
Orion nodded slightly as he looked about. "This atmosphere Something different from the Armoury. This atmosphere is. soothing."
A delicate laugh cut through their musings.
"Impressed, my lord?"
Orion turned to find Laura Valtor, standing as always with an air of confidence. Her black locks fell over one shoulder, and a mischievous smirk played on her lips. She toyed with a strand of her hair between slim fingers, golden eyes flashing with amusement.
"Pills hold more than authority," she sighed, walking towards him. "They carry life. A single pill has the ability to win or save someone who's at the gates of death. A warrior's sword may end the life of an enemy, but a pill holds the answer if he can survive until next combat."
Orion's curiosity. "Then teach me. Point me toward something worthwhile purchasing."
Laura's smile grew as she motioned them to follow. "With pleasure, my lord."
Laura had picked up a little jade pillbox, which she opened the slightest bit to allow a faint green light. "The Emerald Vitality Pill—essentially pure healing. One of these pills can close severe wounds within seconds, staunch internal bleeding, and restore life force. Warriors carry them as last resorts, because one pill could be the difference between living and dying." Elara's eyes shone in wonder, but Orion looked thoughtful.
Laura slid her fingers over another case, exposing a golden pill that had red swirling veins. "This is the Titan's Essence Pill. It strengthens the body, polishing up muscles and bones, boosting stamina, and even improving a cultivator's core strength. However, it's a painful process—your body has to withstand the tempering."
Orion nodded, well aware of how much such a pill was worth.
Laura picked up another bottle, within which a blue pill glowed with faint light in misty energies. "This Spirit Purification Pill purifies impurities within the mana veins, enabling a cultivator to flow energy more effectively. It's particularly good for those who have taken too much mixed energies, as it balances their core." Elara cocked her head. "That sounds wonderful! Brother, do you need one?"
Orion nodded his head slightly. "My cultivation technique naturally cleanses my mana. But you may find it helpful."
Elara blinked, taken aback, but warmth filled her chest.
Laura's face became mischievous as she took up a dark red pill.
"And this... is the Fire Vein Pill. It provides temporary resistance to fire attacks and boosts flame affinity for a brief period of time. Extremely helpful for those who specialize in fire-based cultivation."
Orion hesitated not at all. He made his selections, getting a few Emerald Vitality Pills, Titan's Essence Pills, and Spirit Purification Pills.
Putting them on the counter, he turned to Elara. "Elara, choose some for yourself too."
Elara's eyes went wide. "Brother, you're getting some for me?"

He smiled fleetingly. "Of course, silly. You need to become strong too."
A warm smile lit Elara's face, her hands closing tightly around the pill bottles. Her brother's nursing was everything.
Laura, observing their interaction, smiled mockingly. "You have a heart of gold, my lord."
Orion didn't respond to her teasing words. "Anything else helpful?"
Laura's face became serious. "If you're interested, I have some exotic herbs in store, my lord."
She guided them to a different part of the shop where jars of dried herbs, roots, and petals sat on shelves, each one labeled in elegant calligraphy. The atmosphere was denser here, the blended aromas of earthy ginseng, sharp frost leaf, and fiery phoenix petals entwining.
She took up a Moonshine Root, its silver leaves softly radiating. "This enhances a cultivator's immunity to poison. Very precious."
She gestured to a Blazing Sun Herb; its petals red like fire. "This enhances fire affinity, much like the Fire Vein Pill, but works over time."
Orion studied the herbs thoroughly, but none of them impressed him. Some were too potent for his immediate purposes, while others were useless to him. But then, after a second, he spotted a sheaf of frost leaf and a couple of supporting herbs—similar to the ones he employed previously on himself for his own alchemy.
He took them.
Elara leaned her head and questioned in dismay and wonder. "Brother, what you do we this herb?"
Orion looked at her and smiled a little. "Surprised!"
Elara scolded him and asked with sparkled eyes, "what surprised, Brother tell me, I promised not leak what you planned."
But Orion smiled on her pretence and not disclose anything. After in defeat she pouted. And Orion just shake his head on her antiques.
When their purchases were wrapped in small wooden cases, Orion addressed Laura. "Do you have any magical accessories?"
Laura's eyes flashed with mirth. "Of course, my lord. Right this way."
She took them to another part of the shop where accessories section was lined with glass cases filled with enchanted rings, pendants, bracelets, and hair ornaments. Warm candlelight fluttered against polished gemstones, sending a hypnotic glow.
Orion's eyes fell on a wooden pedestal, where two twin hairpins lay. One glimmered deep blue, the other pure white, their delicate engravings softly radiating runes.
Laura's eyes followed his and smiled knowingly. "A fine choice. These hairpins are enchanted with Protective Enchantments. They form a weak defensive shield against evil magic—a suitable gift for someone dear."
Orion nodded. "I'll take them."
Elara's face relaxed. "Brother, these... are for Mother and Mother Celia?"
He looked at her; his face warm. "Yes. I've never given them anything before, and I want to."
Elara's throat ached with feeling. They would adore them.
Then Orion looked at Elara and said with grin, "I also never give you anything why not you also pick something for you."
Then, Happily, turned to Orion. "Brother... can I pick something too too?"
Orion laughed. "Of course, silly."
Her eyes fixed on a silver armlet decorated with small, water-shaped gems. It seemed to emit a weak cooling essence, a caress of smooth waves against the skin.
Laura took it up, smiling. "Ah, the Aqua Veil Bracelet. It enhances water affinity users' mana control and provides resistance to fire-type attacks. An excellent choice for the young miss."
Orion smiled. "Then we'll take that as well."
Elara held on to the bracelet, feeling the warmth spread across her chest. The first gift from my brother...
As they finished their shopping, Laura's golden eyes sparkled with mischief.
"My lord, shopping is tiring. Or... perhaps you've realized it's already noon?" She moved closer, her voice as smooth as silk. "How about lunch with me?"
Orion, taken aback slightly, hesitated. Before he could answer—
"There's no need, Brother! We should return!"
Elara's voice was laced with annoyance. Her blue eyes blazed with obvious disapproval as she observed Laura's not-so-subtle flirting.
Laura just smiled, eyes twinkling with mirth. "Why hurry, young miss? Food is sweeter in pleasant company."
Orion, seeing Laura's expectant look, groaned to himself. He knew she did not mean one word of her come-ons—it was just who she was. But... he was a bit peckish.
"Fine, let's have lunch," he decided.
He looked at Elara. "Elara, let's dine with Miss Laura. I'm a little peckish too."
Elara's jaw hung open in betrayal as Laura's grin widened in victory.
"Outstanding, my lord. My way."
A few steps away from approaching the restaurant of Iron Fang Pavilion before they arrived there, Orion shifted toward Commander Black and gave him a pouchful of gold coins. "Commander, please take care of the last accounting for me and Elara." The commander never questioned and lost himself in the farthest points of the armoury.
Elara huffed, pouting as they walked toward the restaurant of the Iron Fang Pavilion with Orion and Laura.
One thing was for sure—this lunch was going to be extremely interesting.
