Rebirth of the Movie Queen: Mrs. Sinclair, Please Hug Me!-Chapter 475: The Truth Behind the Injury
Thinking that she now had a partner just as deep-minded, Ariana Lynch smiled slightly, filling their teacups: "Here’s to a pleasant collaboration."
"To a pleasant collaboration."
As soon as the words fell, the crisp sound of teacups clashing was heard. In the office, the two beautiful women with the same ambition exchanged knowing smiles.
After leaving the Lockwood Group, Melody Shepherd bought some gifts to bring to The Sinclair Residence to meet with Mrs. Sinclair.
"Why do you keep bringing gifts, child? It should be Aunt Sinclair giving you things." Mrs. Sinclair, holding a finely crafted custom scarf, feigned displeasure, chiding Melody Shepherd.
"The moment I saw this design, it struck me as perfect for you, so I bought the design straight from the designer. I don’t know if you’ll like it..."
"I know you never lack these things, but it’s just a token of my appreciation. Although we’re both in Meridia, we don’t see each other often." Melody Shepherd looked at Mrs. Sinclair with slightly downcast eyes, seemingly worried that she might not like the gift.
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Sinclair sighed helplessly and gently patted Melody Shepherd’s hand, saying, "I’m delighted; how could I not like your gift? I know you’re busy with work."
"Sometimes when you’re free, your uncle and I are off to different places for meetings or consulting on projects... it’s hard to meet face-to-face."
"Yes, I even heard you almost got caught in a terrorist attack when you reached a small country. Even though it was the government’s issue, it was terrifying." Melody Shepherd grasped Mrs. Sinclair’s hand tightly as if still frightened.
"Next time you and your uncle go out, bring more bodyguards. Look at Elias; he was seriously injured saving Miss Lowell. If the mercenaries hadn’t arrived in time, who knows..." Melody Shepherd bit her lip and stopped.
She sighed, her brows furrowed with worry, but a fleeting trace of triumph at the corners of her mouth was too quick to catch.
"What are you saying? Elias was injured saving Savannah Lowell?"
"What happened?" Hearing the real reason behind her son’s injury, Mrs. Sinclair’s initially smiling face turned dark, her brows knitted tightly.
Melody Shepherd hesitated, her eyes dodging to the side, not daring to meet Mrs. Sinclair’s: "I... wasn’t..."
"Explain clearly, with no omissions!" Seeing Melody Shepherd’s evasive demeanor, Mrs. Sinclair realized it was not straightforward.
Mrs. Sinclair looked at Melody Shepherd sternly, clearly awaiting her answer.
Melody Shepherd stammered, blinking rapidly, seemingly eager to speak but struggling to find the right way.
After pausing for a while, Melody Shepherd slowly answered Mrs. Sinclair’s question: "Miss Lowell was kidnapped by some men, and Elias got injured rescuing her..."
"Apparently, that night, Miss Lowell and Elias had a quarrel. Elias waited at the set until late at night for Miss Lowell before going home together..."
Upon hearing Melody Shepherd’s words, Mrs. Sinclair’s fury flared up, and she slammed the table: "I knew something was up! Our family couldn’t possibly be targeted by ruffians!"
"Always out fooling around, now these men have caused Elias to get hurt. It’s simply..."
"Simply outrageous!"
Mrs. Sinclair’s face was livid with anger, her breathing erratic. Hearing Melody Shepherd say Quinn Lockwood was kidnapped by men, she directly associated it with her chaotic, unsavory relationships.
If it weren’t for her promiscuity, how could she have been kidnapped for revenge?
Seeing Mrs. Sinclair’s fury, Melody Shepherd hurriedly patted her back, gently comforting: "Aunt Sinclair, don’t be angry. Miss Lowell has changed now."
"Although she did stalk Elias, drugged, and seduced him in the past, she was immature then. She’s truly changed now and gets along well with Elias."
Melody Shepherd spoke with a slightly increased speed and a resolute tone, clearly eager to prove Quinn Lockwood’s innocence.
Her face was worried and urgent, but a hard-to-detect sharpness flickered at the corner of her mouth.
"Disgusting! She did such repulsive things!" Mrs. Sinclair could no longer tolerate it. She didn’t know the real reason Elias Sinclair married Savannah Lowell, thinking it was a match made by the old master as part of a family alliance, unaware that her son was manipulated into it.
No.
She absolutely could not allow such a woman of poor character into the Sinclair family. Regardless of Savannah Lowell being the Cloudfall Group’s heir or the implications for their collaboration, she would drive Quinn Lockwood out of the Sinclair family.
Mrs. Sinclair abruptly stood up, striding quickly toward the door, her intense anger lingering long after.
"Aunt Sinclair, where are you going? Wait for me." Melody Shepherd hurriedly followed, her beautiful, gentle face bearing an oddly incongruous expression.
Melody Shepherd ultimately didn’t catch up to Mrs. Sinclair.
Due to her overwhelming anger and dissatisfaction with Quinn Lockwood, Mrs. Sinclair rushed out at the fastest speed, leaving no chance for Melody Shepherd to follow, quickly getting into the car and heading to the hospital to find Elias Sinclair.
Melody Shepherd stood at the Sinclair Residence’s gate, watching the direction of Mrs. Sinclair’s car disappear, raising an eyebrow like a victor, then got into her car.
There was no need for her to go to the hospital. She had said all she needed to. The rest was up to Aunt Sinclair.
When Mrs. Sinclair arrived at the hospital room, Quinn Lockwood wasn’t there; she was with Angus at the pharmacy getting oral medication for the coming days.
"Elias, you should divorce Savannah Lowell as soon as possible. Such a woman is unworthy to enter the Sinclair family, let alone be its mistress."
"If I knew she used such disgusting means to marry you, I would have never allowed her to step into the Sinclair family!" Mrs. Sinclair stood beside the bed, her anger deeply etched, her brows knitted.
Elias Sinclair lay half-reclined on the bed, his gaze lowered to the bed’s edge. Though he said nothing to contradict Mrs. Sinclair, his gloomy expression spoke volumes of his impatience.
