Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband-Chapter 26: Turning The Tables 1
Suddenly, Grace Williams stated, "Your engagement to Erin Parker will be canceled because my daughter will marry him instead!"
Walking toward the crowd, Grace looked around until she spotted Erin.
"You!" She marched toward him and greeted him with a loud slap that echoed through the hall, shocking everyone.
Well, everyone except Vanessa, of course.
Running towards her was Catherine, Rowen’s mother. "Grace, relax! What are you doing?" she asked, trying to stop her.
But before she could, Hannah stepped forward and delivered a hard slap across Grace’s face, making everyone gasp again.
"You woman, how dare you lay your hands on my son?" Hannah demanded, standing in front of Erin protectively.
The scene was chaotic as the two mothers faced each other, ready to attack at the slightest chance.
Annoyed, Richard shouted, "What are you all doing? Don’t you have respect for the Quinn family? What is the meaning of this, Alen?"
Richard turned to his wife, who was just as confused as everyone else.
Facing Richard, Grace stated, "The Williams family apologizes for coming here uninvited, but I’m only here to teach this scoundrel of a man a lesson."
"The only scoundrel here is your shameless daughter!" Hannah shot back.
"What exactly happened?" Alen demanded.
Grace pointed at Erin. "You all must hear me out and be my witnesses today! This so-called son of his mother dared to sleep with my daughter, the young lady of the Williams family, and now he says he won’t marry her! What nerve!"
"I-I-I didn’t sleep with your daughter... she’s the one who slept with me! Why do I have to marry her?" Erin defended himself.
Hannah nodded. "Exactly! If your daughter hadn’t drugged my son, he would never have laid a finger on her! She’s not even that attractive anyway."
"You? How dare you, Hannah?" Grace shouted.
"Well, am I wrong? My son told me everything. This sly fox wanted to drug Rowen but failed and ended up drugging my son instead. Now she wants to marry into my family? No way! Never!"
Hearing this, the entire room erupted in gasps and murmurs. One whisper after another filled the hall, making it unbearably noisy.
Sighing, Vanessa walked toward Rowen, who seemed completely unbothered by the chaos.
Shocked by Hannah’s words, Catherine turned to Rachel. "What?! Rachel, is that true?"
Rachel didn’t know what to say. She simply hid behind her mother, her silence speaking louder than words.
"How dare you try to drug my son after I trusted you?" Catherine snapped, slapping Rachel so hard that she fell to the floor.
"I-I-I really didn’t mean to..."
"Enough!" Hannah shouted.
"Now listen, my son already has a fiancée, and her name is Fiona Parker!"
"Wrong!" Fiona’s voice rang out, drawing all eyes to her.
"I am not interested in marrying Erin, never was, and never will be. I want to call off my engagement!" she declared before turning to the Fifth Uncle.
"You said you would reward me with anything. You can see that Erin has already been with the daughter of the Williams family. If he should marry anyone, it should be Rachel."
Nodding, the Fifth Uncle stated, "The girl is right. Erin doesn’t deserve to marry Fiona after what he did to Lady Williams."
"B-but it was a mistake..." Erin pleaded.
"Mistake or not, the deed is done. You will have to face the consequences. Now leave, all of you! You have disturbed my banquet. Guards! Escort them out!"
With that, Erin, Rachel, and their mothers were thrown out, and the banquet finally regained its peace.
"Sigh! It has been such a stressful day... Young Lady Owen!" The Fifth Uncle called out Vanessa’s name, and she quickly ran toward him.
"Yes, Uncle?"
"I have rewarded Lady Fiona, now it’s time for me to reward you. Come, tell me what you want."
Smiling, Vanessa said, "Well, I would like the Fifth Uncle to give my husband a little of your time."
Her request left everyone in shock, especially Rowen.
People had expected her to ask for bags and shoes but instead she asked for such a thing. Was she really the Vanessa Owen they had heard about.
Vanessa continued, "You see, my husband has a business idea he would like to share with you. I know the Fifth Uncle will leave for China as soon as the banquet is over, but if only you could hear him out before you go."
She spoke with confidence, and the Fifth Uncle laughed. "What a caring young lady! Is that all you want? No problem. I’ll give your husband my time, don’t worry!"
"Thank you, Fifth Uncle!" Vanessa beamed with satisfaction.
Everyone in the room couldn’t help but praise her. She wasn’t just beautiful; she was also a talented dancer and a supportive wife with a great attitude.
They all wondered who had spread such terrible rumors about her in the first place.
Soon, the reception continued, and people started to mingle and dance.
As Vanessa approached Rowen with a bright smile, she was met with his sharp, unreadable gaze.
"W-what’s wrong?" she asked hesitantly.
"Tell me, how did you find out about the business idea I wanted to share with the Fifth Uncle?" he questioned. Only George and a few others knew about it. Vanessa could never have found out, so how did she know?
He had already noticed that something was strange about her, but he had ignored it until now.
She wasn’t just acting differently; she somehow knew things she wasn’t supposed to know and could do things he never thought she could.
Was the woman standing before him really his wife? Or was she someone else?
Smiling awkwardly, Vanessa simply said, "The important thing isn’t how I know... it’s how I was able to help. But you don’t seem impressed, so no problem."
She sighed and turned to leave, but he grabbed her hand, stopping her.
"I’m thankful for your help, Vanessa... and you are a really good dancer," Rowen admitted before kissing her forehead.
"I’ll have to go see the Fifth Uncle. Stay safe I’ll be back soon."
With that, he turned and left, leaving Vanessa blushing slightly.
As soon as he was gone, different people surrounded her, showering her with compliments on her performance and beauty.
Meanwhile, in the corner of the room, Eunice stood fuming with rage. She couldn’t take it anymore.
Taking out her phone, she dialed a number. "Get ready... our victim is vulnerable!"
