Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband-Chapter 25: The Spoiled Wife Is Really Talented 2
"If you are pleased by her performance, Uncle, then you would be blown away by mine!"
Vanessa said as she made her way towards Eunice.
"Finally, she has something to present... I thought she wouldn’t bring anything!"
"There’s no way she would give a gift better than Young Lady Mo. She should just go sit down instead of embarrassing herself."
Meanwhile, Rowen just stared at Vanessa, unaware of what she was going to do, but in all their years of being married, this was the first time he trusted her with peace of mind.
Taken aback by the young woman’s sudden appearance, Richard Quinn questioned, "And who might you be, young lady?"
Bowing slightly, Vanessa responded, "I am Vanessa Owen... Young Master Rowen’s wife."
She said as she stole a glance at Rowen, whose eyes were fixated only on her and no one else.
"Hmm," Richard touched his beard. He had heard so many rumors about Rowen’s wife, and they were not good. He wondered what she was going to do.
"Go ahead then."
With that, Vanessa gave a satisfied smile as she then turned to Eunice.
"Cousin, if I remember correctly, years ago you won the music competition during our third year, and I’m sure I remember the music you played that day."
Vanessa smiled viciously as Eunice, who was seated, turned pale.
’What the hell is this bitch trying to do?’
Just then, the loud voice of someone was heard, "Guangling San! I remember Young Lady Mo playing Guangling San."
A blonde-looking lady hidden in the crowd shouted as she passed through people only to appear in front of Vanessa.
"I was also present at the competition. Young Lady Mo won by playing Guangling San."
Fiona stated as Vanessa nodded to her response.
"If my wonderful cousin won’t mind, the gift I have for Fifth Uncle is a dance... a dance that would best fit the music of Guangling San. Would you mind playing it for me?"
Vanessa asked kindly, but her words only made Eunice boil in anger more and more.
She just remained there, frozen... not knowing what to say.
She couldn’t play it; she had never played it. The competition she had won was all a scam.
"W-well... I-I-I..." Eunice stammered.
"Hmm... the young lady doesn’t seem to want to play it. Why so?"
"Maybe she doesn’t know how to play it."
"Then how did she win the competition?"
"You know rich people, they always have a way to get anything they want."
"That means she’s a fake and a liar..."
The sounds of murmurs filled the hall once more as Eunice felt all glares and stares pointed at her, and this wasn’t the kind of attention she wanted.
Oh, how she felt like strangling Vanessa at this moment.
Hiding her amusement, Vanessa asked, faking concern, "What’s wrong, cousin? Don’t tell me you don’t know how to play it anymore?"
Eunice snapped, "W-what do you mean?! Of course, I know how to play it, I just need to gather my thoughts... let’s get it over with."
She said as she returned to her seat, getting ready to play.
With that, Vanessa smiled as she clapped her fingers twice, and the entire hall went dark.
In less than a second, the spotlight was turned on, placed directly on Vanessa and Eunice.
The song started slow, and Eunice played the intro perfectly... but what people were most focused on was the beautiful lady in white as she danced so elegantly that they could literally feel the emotion in her steps.
Vanessa moved gracefully, her white cheongsam dress hugging her figure as she glided across the floor. She danced in perfect harmony with the music, her movements light yet expressive, telling a story without words.
The melody of Guangling San built up, and Vanessa’s dance became even more captivating as the audience watched in silence, completely entranced.
Then, suddenly, a jarring note broke the magic.
Gasps filled the hall as Eunice’s fingers slipped on the guqin, disrupting the beautiful performance. Another off-key note followed, more painful than the first.
Whispers spread among the guests...
"What happened?"
"She’s ruining the performance!"
"Wasn’t she the champion of that music competition?"
"This is embarrassing! She can’t even keep up with the dancer."
"She must have cheated back then! There’s no way she won fairly."
Eunice’s hands shook as she struggled to regain control, but the damage was done. Her face turned pale, her breath unsteady as the judgmental stares bore into her.
Richard Quinn, the Fifth Uncle, finally spoke, his deep voice cutting through the murmurs.
"Eunice," he said, his sharp gaze locked on her, "why can’t you play properly?"
Silence filled the hall once more. Eunice opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words.
Because deep down, she knew the truth—
She had never known how to play Guangling San.
In order to be better than Vanessa in something, she had practiced night and day, but she couldn’t get it.
On the night of the competition when she performed, it was all auto-tuned. The music was never real, and she never deserved the award.
Sighing, the Fifth Uncle knew her silence was already an answer on its own. "Is there anyone here who knows how to play Guangling San well?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The crowd immediately went silent as no one dared to look the man in the eyes.
But just then...
"I can play!" Fiona came out once more, her smile bright as her blonde hair blended with her yellow cheongsam dress.
"Really? Young lady, what’s your name?" he questioned.
"My name is Fiona Parker!" she revealed as everyone stared in shock.
"Isn’t the Parker family one of the richest families in Graceland? I heard her mother is Diana Parker, the sister of Eden Parker."
"Then play for us."
Nodding, Fiona glared at Eunice, who shamelessly stood up and walked towards Erin, who at some point had shifted away.
He liked his reputation.
Soon, she started playing, and to everyone’s surprise, she played so well that they had even forgotten Eunice had been there just minutes ago.
As she played, Vanessa danced, and the rhythm was just perfect, as though they had been practicing together for a long time.
Soon, the dance came to a head, and everyone applauded.
As Vanessa and Fiona bowed in unison.
"Wow, the young lady of the Quinn family is truly talented!"
"What a combination of beauty, brains, and talent." The crowd muttered.
"What talented young ladies! Tell me, what would you want as a reward? I am very pleased," the Fifth Uncle asked.
Fiona answered, "I would love for Fifth Uncle to call off my engagement to Erin Quinn."
She said, shocking everyone present, even Vanessa.
"What? Which engagement are you referring to?"
"You may not be aware because the elders are yet to announce it, but I found out just yesterday that I would be marrying Mr. Erin Quinn, and I have no interest in marrying him."
Just then, the door burst open, and making their way in was the Williams family.
Standing between her parents was Rachel, whose face was drenched in tears.
Suddenly, Grace Williams stated, "Your engagement to Erin Parker will be canceled because my daughter will marry him instead!"
