Reborn; A Slave to the World-Chapter 75: The Abyss (1)
Chapter 75: The Abyss (1)
His thoughts are interrupted when he notices everything around him starting to fade into darkness. The place he was starting to become familiar with in death had decided to bring him in.
I didn’t die this time so why the hell am I back in the abyss of all places? Is this because I was thinking about how I want to learn more about my abilities and because I want to be stronger? ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
A little warning would’ve been nice before I got engulfed by the whole damn place again.
He wasn’t floating this time and could actually feel his feet on the ground still, almost as if he was in the same place from before he was engulfed.
Voices echo in the distance as buildings slowly begin to appear all around him, slowly taking shape and lighting up the road ahead of him. It was like the abyss has turned itself into some sort of city for him to explore.
I’m starting to think that floating in the abyss wasn’t as bad as it is to see a city suddenly appear. There’s obviously a reason that it brought me here all of a sudden, I just have to figure out what that reason is.
The buildings here aren’t modern in the slightest either so it’s obvious that this power is still from this world at least. I’m going to have to figure out what’s inside each of these buildings though... I can feel it now.
A girl appears in the distance ahead of him. "You want to become stronger and you want to learn more, travel the road." Her voice echoes off of the buildings around him.
I had a feeling that it would be the only option for me to take while I’m inside this place anyway. It’s definitely creepy as all hell to be walking inside of this abyss.
He looks down to see his sword is still at his waist, something he didn’t realize came with him into the abyss. It’s a relief that I have my sword just in case some sort of monster appears within here.
Because I don’t think it’ll be an easy journey to travel inside of here, especially with darkness all around me. The light in here is only illuminating the buildings so I can see where it matters.
He draws his sword and begins to make his way over to the first building which appears to be an old blacksmith shop. The name on the sign seems to be faded so you can’t really read it, the windows are in perfect shape, and the door to go inside seems to be in working order.
Is this place actually real or is it some sort of manifestation that the girl made to help me figure things out. That’s something to really think on in a time like this.
Considering all the mystery around her with her name not being known to me and the nature of this power, I’d say it’s a good thing to bet on.
Creeeek. He opens up the door to see a bunch of old sets of armor, swords, and even books scattered across the room. It was clear that the inside of the shop was picked through at some point in time.
Old paintings seem to have some sort of claws slashed down across them, strange foot prints were all over the floors, and a door was slightly open behind the counter.
How could it look okay on the outside but the inside is absolutely atrocious to look at, what exactly happened here? His hand grips the handle of his sword as he moves further into the room.
I haven’t thought too much about what will happen if I encounter something inside of this shop. If anything is lurking within the abyss with me it makes me wonder how the girl has gotten away for so long.
But that would rule out her manifesting this place if that was the case since she wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so. This has to be some sort of test or trial or something for me to get through.
He continues forward while taking quick glances around the room, searching for any sign of these beings that attacked the shop.
I probably won’t be able to rely on my shadows as much in here since this is where everything comes from right? It’s going to be interesting to rely on my swordsmanship alone in here.
I’m sure I can handle it since I did get through all those fights in the normal world. Thump. Thump. His heart begins to race at the thought of fighting without any advantages.
I’ll be alright, just calm down. Breathe in, breathe out.
There’s no reason for me to be panicking about anything right now when I haven’t even encountered an enemy worth panicking over. This could be from some monster that died off ages ago or something like that.
Chitter. Chatter. Something could be heard behind the counter making some sort of noises. It was unknown what it was doing at the moment or how many there are waiting.
So something is here, how lovely is that. I was really hoping that I wouldn’t have to deal with any fighting just yet but it seems I’m wrong.
Unless whatever is behind the counter there is peaceful, then it’ll be an entirely different story.
Artemis makes his way over to the counter with his sword ready to swing it the monster pushes him. After reaching the edge of the counter he turns the corner and sees that nothing is there.
"I could’ve sworn I heard something making noises here." He says softly.
It probably would’ve been smarter to keep that to myself when I’m the only one here right now. I guess that’s a habit I’ll have to break at some point.
Shatter! Smash!!! Things get broken from behind him as he quickly turns around to see something standing by the door. It was as tall as the door and the only thing he could visibly see was it’s claws.
