Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 100: For Someone who claimed to be my sister, you sure are busy
Chapter 100: For Someone who claimed to be my sister, you sure are busy
Qingran smirked, pausing at the doorway just to enjoy Haoyu’s flustered expression a little longer. "Not yet, huh?"
Meng Nian, remained composed, though Qingran could see the slight twitch at the corner of his lips. Unlike Haoyu, who was still buried under the hospital blanket, Meng Nian met her gaze calmly.
"If you’d like, I can send you updates about his recovery," he offered, tone polite.
Qingran raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So responsible. Are you sure you’re not already his boyfriend?"
Haoyu made another strangled noise, his entire face burning. "Sister Qingran! I beg you please just kill me"
Qingran laughed, waving a dismissive hand. "Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you—" She paused, then added, "—for now."
She turned to Meng Nian, giving him a once-over. Now that she was really looking at him, she had to admit Haoyu had good taste. Meng Nian was tall, good-looking, and seemed capable enough. More importantly, he hadn’t run away the moment things got chaotic.
To think they had met due to an accidental kiss, she guessed it must have sparked something.
Ah! Young love.
"You seem decent enough," she finally said. "But Haoyu is a younger brother of mine, so if you mess with him, I’ll make sure you regret it."
Meng Nian nodded, unfazed. "Understood, I won’t break his heart."
Haoyu groaned. "Why are you making it sound like we’re getting married?"
Qingran smirked. "Hey, I’m just setting expectations. If you keep getting yourself injured like this, maybe I should start preparing a dowry."
That was enough to send Haoyu into a full meltdown.
"I’m disowning you!"
"I’m the older sister here, how can you disown me?"
Qingran laughed as she stepped out, but before she left completely, she called back over her shoulder, "Behave yourselves, kids! And remember no more fooling around until Haoyu is old enough.."
The door shut behind her, muffling whatever protests Haoyu was making.
Lingquan, who had been quietly perched on her shoulder the whole time, finally spoke. [I liked that Meng Nian kid. Very stable.]
Qingran stretched as she walked down the hospital hallway. "Yeah, he handled my interrogation well. Seems like Haoyu is good hands."
Lingquan flicked his tail. [Do you think they’ve kissed more than once?]
Qingran snorted. "Who knows? But given the state Haoyu’s in, I think they did more than just kiss."
Lingquan hummed in agreement, his golden eyes glinting mischievously. [Young love is so reckless.]
Qingran shook her head, smiling to herself. As much as she enjoyed teasing Haoyu, at the end of the day, she was just glad he was okay.
Now that she had seen it with her own eyes, she could finally go home and get some rest.
[Hey host, let’s go get cat nip, I always wondered what it would taste like.]
"Oh, sure it’s still too early for the pet store to open, so let’s go home get some sleep and we’ll go out for breakfast."
"..."
"Oh shit, I just remembered something, I was supposed to meet Tzang Yichen yesterday.."
[Yes! Seems like so..]
Qingran pulled out her phone and sent a message.
[Sorry about yesterday. Let’s meet at the same place. By 9pm.]
The reply came in a second, seems like Tzang Yichen was on his phone.
[For someone who claimed to be my sister, you sure are busy. Miss Gu Qingran, I waited for you for 3 hours yesterday. Why the heck would I come to meet you today?]
Qingran bit her lips, now she would have to think of a decent lie if not Tzang Yichen wouldn’t want to meet her this time.
Her eyes lit up, she had found a decent lie.
[Yesterday, was a busy day at work, you know how it is. A lot has been going on lately so I’ve been swapped. This time I’ll wait for you.]
The dots rolled for a long time, Qingran had gotten out of the hospital and was heading to the parking lot when she received the message.
[Mhm..breakfast is on you..Miss Gu.]
Qingran smirked, slipping into the driver’s seat of her car. Breakfast, huh? At least that meant he was still willing to meet her. She tossed her phone onto the passenger seat and started the engine.
Lingquan stretched lazily on her shoulder. [You’re terrible at apologizing.]
"I’m not apologizing. I’m bribing."
[Same thing.]
Qingran rolled her eyes and pulled out of the parking lot. The streets were still quiet this early in the morning, making the drive home smooth. As much as she enjoyed bantering with Tzang Yichen, she was exhausted. All she wanted now was a hot shower and a few hours of uninterrupted sleep.
By the time she got home, Lingquan had curled up into a ball on her shoulder, pretending to nap. She grabbed him by the scruff and set him down on the couch before heading straight for the bathroom. A quick shower later, she flopped onto her bed, sighing in relief as the mattress swallowed her whole.
Just as she was drifting off, Lingquan’s voice popped into her head again. [Hey host, what if he asks you for details about why you were busy yesterday?]
Qingran groaned into her pillow. "I’ll make something up."
[Oh? Like what?]
"Lingquan I work in a research facility, of course I have many things to use as excuse. Pill deadline and things like that.."
[Solid excuse I’ll give you that..]
Qingran looked at the time, it was currently 7am, she would skip breakfast since she was having it with Tzang Yichen.
But she would have to make a breakfast for Lingquan.
"Grilled salmon sounds nice for breakfast. Though I’m out of fish at home. I’ll just take one out of the stockpile"
[Ding! 1 frozen salmon has been removed from stockpile. Host go grocery, don’t go eating into your stockpile]
"..."
"It’s just a one time thing and I’ll replace it when I head out. And the salmon is for you! Ungrateful much.."
Lingquan rolled his eyes, he was only letting her know, he had seen it become a bad habit.
