Chapter 101: It’s an obvious fact you two are related

Qingran lounged around for a bit, until it was time for her to head out.

She took a shower, after applying her skincare it was time for her wear her outfit of the day. She had a lot of clothes but due to her job, she most wore long pants and coats but since she wasn’t going to work for the time being.

She was going to explore the rest of her closet.

Glancing around for a bit, her eyes caught on a stylish gray ribbed turtleneck layered under a black grid-patterned pinafore dress.

"When did I even buy this?" she muttered to herself, she pulled it out, pulled a chunky ankle boot that also caught her eyes.

"This will do nicely.."

Qingran quickly got dressed, adjusting the straps of the pinafore dress before stepping in front of the mirror.

The outfit was a little different from her usual structured work attire, but she had to admit—it looked good on her.

The fitted silhouette and checkered pattern gave it a polished edge, while the ribbed turtleneck balanced it out with a cozy touch.

She turned slightly, admiring the way the dress hugged her figure. "Not bad," she mused before grabbing a small black handbag to complete the look.

Lingquan, who had reappeared just to watch, hummed in approval.

[Finally, something otjer than lab coats and jeans. This actual makes you look like your age. You should dress like this more often.]

"Yeah, I’ve got it admit. I look fantastic.."

Her mind turned to Feng Yizhou, would he think she looked good in this outfit. Maybe she should tease him.

She brought out her phone and took a picture. Lingquan jumped unto the vanity to see the picture.

[It’s well taken, host is actually a very beautiful woman. I can see why Feng Yizhou is head over heels.]

Qingran smirked at Lingquan’s comment, her fingers hovering over the screen as she debated whether to send the photo.

Would Feng Yizhou react the way she expected? Probably. The man had always been easy to fluster, and she enjoyed pushing his buttons.

After a moment’s hesitation, she tapped the send button, adding a simple message:

[Feng Yizhou. How do I look?]

The reply came almost instantly, as if he had been waiting for a message from her.

[Beautiful.]

Qingran arched an eyebrow. No teasing, no snarky remark—just a straightforward compliment. That was unlike him.

Lingquan flicked his tail, peering over her shoulder. [No teasing this time? He must be down bad or has lost interest.]

Qingran chuckled and replied. "Maybe he’s finally learning..."

She typed back:

[Oh? No flirty remark? No ’who are you trying to seduce’ today?]

This time, it took him a little longer to respond.

[I figured I’d let you enjoy the compliment without ruining it. But if you want me to say it—who are you trying to seduce this early in the morning? I miss you my darling]

Qingran laughed slightly, slipping her phone into her bag. "That’s more like it."

Lingquan rolled his eyes. [Humans and their strange mating rituals.]

"Shut up," Qingran muttered, giving him a light flick on the forehead. "Go back to the system space before I change my mind about buying you catnip."

Lingquan huffed but didn’t argue, disappearing with a flicker of light.

Checking the time, Qingran grabbed her keys and headed out. The crisp morning air greeted her as she stepped outside, the streets still relatively quiet.

By the time she reached the Family Clinic, she was right on time. She leaned against her car, waiting, when she spotted a familiar figure approaching.

"I thought you wouldn’t show. Miss Gu Qingran. But you’re here all dressed up.."

".."

"Let’s just go in and get the dna done."

They walked in and soon were greeted with a receptionist with a warm smile.

"I’ve made an appointment under Gu Qingran.."

The receptionist offered them a smile as she checked the computer.

"Ah, lucky you miss Gu, the lab technician is currently free and in the office so you can jsut head to the office, down the hall and meet her. Her name is Huang Fangyi."

"Thank you.."

"It is my job Miss.."

Qingran nodded and they headed to the office.

"So if we end up being siblings what are you doing to do about it? Demand for a place in the family?"

"..."

Qingran slowed to a stop as she clenched her fists "26 years I’ve lived my life with a mother, father, brother or sister. All I had was my grandfather, he taught me well. Maybe back then I would have demanded a place but I’m 26 now, do I look like i care? I have no intention of changing my name to Tzang or asking for acknowledgment."

Yichen didn’t say anything anymore as they got to the office.

Knocking once, a voice was heard.

"Yes, please come in.."

Qingran pushed the door open, stepping inside with Tzang Yichen following closely behind. The office was small but neat, with a faint scent of disinfectant lingering in the air.

Behind the desk sat a woman in her late forties, her dark hair pulled into a bun, glasses resting on the bridge of her nose.

She glanced up, offering a polite smile. "Miss Gu and Mr. Tzang, correct?"

"That’s us," Qingran confirmed.

Huang Fangyi gestured to the two chairs in front of her desk. "Please, have a seat. The process is simple. We’ll collect a DNA sample from both of you, and the results should be ready in a few days."

Qingran sat down without hesitation, her expression calm. Tzang Yichen, however, hesitated for a fraction of a second before lowering himself into the chair beside her.

"You seem composed Miss," Huang Fangyi observed, prepping the swabs. "Most people are a little anxious during these tests."

Qingran smirked slightly. "If I wasn’t ready for the answer, I wouldn’t be here."

Tzang Yichen shot her a sideways glance but said nothing.

"Alright then, let’s get started," Huang Fangyi said, picking up a sterile swab. "Miss Gu, we’ll start with you."

Qingran leaned forward slightly as the swab was brushed against the inside of her cheek.

A few seconds later, Huang Fangyi sealed the sample in a labeled tube before turning to Tzang Yichen.

"Your turn, Mr. Tzang."

He complied wordlessly, his expression unreadable as the swab was taken.

"All done," Huang Fangyi said, labeling his sample as well. "Once the analysis is complete, we’ll notify you both."

"Thank you Doc, but can you speed up the process, like 2-3 days.."

Huang Fangyi took her glasses off and stared at Qingran.

"It’s an obvious fact you two are related, what you taking a Dna test for. I’m not going to intrude anymore. Yes we can sped up the process, since you left your email with us. I’ll email you the test results once they’re out in 3 business days. Is that alright with you?"

Qingran nodded and bowed slightly. "It’s very fair, thank you Doc.."

Yichen didn’t say anything and simply stood quietly. As they turned to leave they heard her speak again.

"It might be out of place, but your parents did a really fucked up job at parenting. You too could have been really cool siblings but then again it’s never too late to try.."
