Chapter 134: Better to hear it from Qingran

"Call me as soon as you get there."

"Yes I understand.."

Qingran answered as she stepped into the aircraft.

Feng Yizhou bit his lips, it was just a rescue mission, she wouldn’t take that long.

"I’ll be back.."

Haoyu waved at him as the craft took flight. The flight to be city would only take 3 hours.

She had already called Anya, so they could pick all of them at one spot. The only issue, was getting Tzang Yichen to come along.

"We could be back in 6 hours or more. The goal is to get back today."

"Since we’re only doing pick up. It shouldn’t take that long.."

Qingran sighed, she wanted to agree but things usually didn’t go as planned.

"I hope so."

The aircraft cut through the skies with practiced ease, engine humming low beneath them.

Qingran leaned back into the seat, eyes half-lidded, but her mind was anything but calm.

She tapped her finger restlessly against her thigh, gaze drifting to the clouds outside.

Haoyu sat across from her, scrolling through a tablet as he briefed himself on their extraction route.

"Do you think he’ll come willingly?" he asked quietly.

Qingran didn’t answer right away. She knew who he meant, Tzang Yichen. The most unpredictable piece on the board.

"...He doesn’t trust anyone. Not even me."

she finally replied.

Haoyu smirked. "That’s why I brought tranquilizers."

Qingran gave him a look. "You’re not using those unless I say so."

"I know, I know," he muttered, tucking the case back into his bag.

The comms crackled softly, and the pilot’s voice filtered through. "ETA to B City: two hours, thirty minutes. Minor wind shift, but clear skies all the way."

She acknowledged it with a short hum. The calm before the storm.

Back at Facility 09, Feng Yizhou stood at the uppermost window, eyes fixed on the blue sky, watching until the aircraft vanished from view. He didn’t move for a long time.

"Sir. What do we do now?" Sun Zi Mo asked, standing behind him, next to him was Chang Saem and Ken .

"Raid all the malls within perimeter. Get all the clothes don’t worry about security, there won’t be anyone there to stop you."

"..."

"Aren’t we going to pay sir?"

"..."

Ken wished he could take his words back but the damage had already been done.

"Of course. You can give the zombies the payment on your way out.."

"..."

"Sorry sir." Ken bowed as they left to carry out his orders.

Back in B city, Anya counted then passengers in the car.

The kids and Bai Shiyue were all seated and accounted for.

"Kids did you tell your parents, what I told you to tell them?"

"Yes!" They replied in unison.

"Did you take your favorite belonging?" She asked again.

"Yes!" They replied again in unison.

She turned to Bai Shiyue, she couldn’t what the pregnant lady must be thinking.

"Are you okay? If you’re feeling uncomfortable tell him. We’re heading to a private hanger, so if you need anything say it now?"

Bai Shiyue shook her head gently, one hand resting on her belly as she stared out the window.

"I’m fine. The baby’s calm right now," she said softly. "Though I still don’t really understand where we’re going or why it had to be today..."

Anya didn’t respond immediately. Her eyes stayed fixed on the road ahead, both hands steady on the wheel.

"You’ll understand soon," she said finally. "It’s not something I can explain in a few words. But I promise, this is for your safety."

Bai Shiyue glanced at her through the rearview mirror, but didn’t push further. Something about Anya’s tone told her not to ask again.

Anya sighed, what ever was going on, they could only understand what was going on from Qingran’s mouth.

"Is older sister Qingran going to be there?" Ren asked, they knew the study excuse was a ruse, so why were they leaving the city?

"Yes. She wants to show your something, best save your questions for her.."

Three hours later, the aircraft landed in the private hanger.

"We’ve arrived ma’am.."

Qingran nodded as she got down, Haoyou folllwing behind her.

"Older sister Qingran..I want to bring Meng Nian along.."

Qingran smirked and nodded "I’m not stopping you, but you and your boyfriend should come back on time. We’re working with time.."

Haoyu nodded and walked away, picking up his pace so he could get to his destination faster.

Qingran looked around, searching for Anya...they should have gotten here a long time.

"Qingran!"

Qingran turned at the sound of her name. Anya was jogging toward her across the tarmac, her coat flaring behind her, wind tousling her hair.

Behind her, the vehicle pulled up, and one by one, the passengers began stepping out.

"You took your time" Qingran said, raising an eyebrow.

Anya exhaled and gave a small smile.

"Traffic. And teenagers."

Qingran gave a soft snort and walked past her toward the car.

"Hey kids. Bai Shiyue."

They smiled when they saw Qingran.

"Sister Qingran, where are we going to?" Feng Yuxi asked but Qingran only patted her haired.

Qingran met his gaze calmly. "I’ll explain everything once we get in the air. For now, I have one more person to bring along. Once I’m back, we’ll be leaving."

The three exchanged glances but didn’t argue. Something in her tone made it clear she wasn’t in the mood for backtalk.

Qingran reached the car and offered her hand to Bai Shiyue. "Are you okay to walk? It’s not far."

"I can manage," Bai Shiyue murmured. "It’s just... a bit sudden."

"I know," Qingran said quietly, helping her out with care. "It’ll make more sense soon. Just trust me for a little while longer."

They started moving toward the aircraft together. Anya stayed behind a moment to lock up the vehicle before jogging to catch up.

"Where are we really headed Qingran?" Anya asked, now that it was just the two of them.

"A safe house in Guyoung."
