Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 138: System Recalibration.
Chapter 138: System Recalibration.
[WELCOME, PLAYERS. WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE.]
[YOU WILL NOW RECEIVE YOUR NUMBERS AND BE ASSIGNED TO YOUR ZONES.]
[MAY THE HEAVENS HAVE MERCY ON YOU. SURVIVE IF YOU CAN.]
"What the fuck!"
Yichen look at the number on his hand as he began to disappear, Qingran eyes widened, this hadn’t happen last time.
She hissed when she felt hotness in her skin, she looked down and saw the number 1, she raised her eyes and looked at Yizhou’s it was 2, did that mean they would be in the same zone?
She shuddered when she saw him begin to fade.
"Yizhou.."
"Qingran.."
Feng Yizhou reached out for her, but it felt as though there was a large gap between them even though she was right next to him.
"Qingran.."
"Yizhou.."
"QINGRAN! DON’T LEAVE THE ZONE WHERE YOU ARE, SEND SOME KIND OF MESSAGE. I’LL FIND YOU.."
"AND YOU DON’T DIE, I WON’T FORGIVE YOU, IF YOU DIE YIZHOU."
Eventually everyone in the crash site had disappeared, the only evidence of their crash was the aircraft.
Darkness covered the scary as the disaster spread on.
Darkness shrouded the earth for three days, transforming the Country beyond recognition.
Cities crumbled into skeletal remains, roads cracked open like parched earth, and the ground trembled beneath the disaster’s weight.
The apocalypse had arrived, reeking of smoke, blood, and rot. The sky pulsed with a deep, bloody red hue, like an unhealing wound.
The undead had multiplied into an uncountable horde, their moans a haunting symphony beneath the destruction’s silence.
The zones had formed, sealed by towering, translucent domes that divided the country into isolated sections.
Qingran’s eyes snapped open, greeted by thick, dry air filled with the distant wails of the dying and the crackle of dying flames.
She pulled herself upright, coughing, as her vision cleared.
The days of luxury had finally come to an end.
"Shiyue... Meng Nian... Yuxi..." she muttered hoarsely, scanning the ruin with frantic eyes.
She spotted them soon enough: Feng Yuxi dragging herself upright, her face smeared with ash, Meng Nian standing guard, his eyes darting alertly and Bai Shiyue who was kneeling, hands cradling her belly, as she breathed heavily.
Qingran sprinted toward Shiyue. "Shiyue!"
Shiyue looked up, tears clinging to her lashes.
"I’m okay... the baby’s fine, I think."
Qingran reached her, kneeling to support her.
"Don’t push yourself. You’re safe now."
Meng Nian and Feng Yuxi approached, their faces grim as Qingran’s gaze locked onto them.
"We need to move. We’re not in Guyoung anymore. We’ve been transported to a zone... and I don’t know which one yet."
A static pulse crackled through the air, and a glowing screen blinked into existence.
The mechanical voice returned, cold and detached: [ZONE ESTABLISHED.]
[WELCOME TO ZONE 1]
[POPULATION: 400,000]
[SURVIVAL COMMENCES.]
It wasn’t visible to only Qingran, everyone could see it.
She sighed and helped Bai Shiyue up, it was currently bright, they had to find some shelter before night time.
"Everyone follow me..."
"Lingquan, you there?"
She waited for a while but no reply, she looked up the road and saw a car that had managed to escape the rumble.
When they got there, they were lucky enough to find the keys in the ignition.
"Everyone get in.."
Qingran sped off, finding a high rise building that was still intact. It didn’t take long after 10 minutes they had found an hotel. She took out a gun from her space, she loaded the gun before asking them to come outside.
"Follow me and stay close."
She scanned the place with every step she took, the lobby was completely empty, she looked over at the receptionist’s desk it was completely empty.
"The hotel might be deserted but its a big one so I’m not completely sure everyone in it..left."
As they headed to the elevator, she pressed the button for the highest floor. That is where they would be living for the time being.
"This doesn’t make any sense." Meng Nian sighed as he stared at his hand.
Number 111.
"You all tell me your numbers, we’re in the same range that’s why we are together."
"111. 57, 1120.." they said their numbers in almost unison.
It said the population in this zone had 400,000 thousand people, so how come Feng Yizhou and the others aren’t here as well.
Lingquan is offline for some reason, even though the system functions are still working.
Ding!
Qingran stepped out cautiously, there was only one suite in this floor, and no places to hide as well.
She lowered the gun and continued walking, getting to the door, she looked at the passcode.
6 digits..
"Lingquan log into the hotel’s database and get me the passcode."
[Running...completed. 157112.]
She tapped in the code and the door opened instantly.
System recalibration
Apocalypse mode: On.
[Host, room is completely empty, there’s no zombies in this floor.]
Qingran sighed and kept the gun, she stepped into the suite and the others followed her in.
[This suite has three rooms, one kitchen, and a balcony.]
"Got it."
She turned the Bai Shiyue, now she needed to check if she was okay just as she claimed.
"Shiyue please follow me, let’s check you for injuries."
Bai Shiyue nodded, still holding her belly protectively as Qingran guided her to the nearest room.
The air inside was stale, but clean enough.
Qingran closed the door behind them and helped her sit on the edge of the bed.
"Lie back carefully," she instructed, crouching beside her and rolling up her sleeves. "Tell me if anything feels off, pain, pressure, anything."
Bai Shiyue did as told, her expression tight but calm. "The baby kicked earlier. That’s usually a good sign, right?"
"It is.." Qingran said, already running her fingers gently along the sides of her belly, checking for abnormalities. "Your breathing is steady. No bleeding. That’s good."
She pulled out a small scanner from her space. It lit up with a soft hum, casting a gentle glow over Shiyue’s abdomen. The readings stabilized within seconds.
"Heartbeat’s normal. Placenta is intact." Qingran let out a breath. "You’re stable. Both of you."
Shiyue’s shoulders slumped. "Thank god."
Qingran rose to her feet. "But this isn’t over. You’ll need rest, nutrition, and zero stress. I’ll secure the area and set up defenses."
