Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 148
Chapter 148: 148
"5 floors?"
"Yeah. If you need to talk to me then you come to the last floor."
Meng Nian nodded, were they even trained enough to be stationed to floors.
"But I’m not stationing you there now, when we’ve got a full house that’s when I’ll station you all. For now, there’s too little people to guard."
"Alright. Do you want to head to the 36th floor?"
Qingran shook her head "Let’s skip those first and clear out the kitchen. Would be better to see how much food they had stock up on.."
"I get that..."
[Ding! Ding! New mission unlocked. Clear out the building, get rid of all the zombies and infected, find 40 survivors. Duration 72 hours.]
DING! Apocalyptic Wave Begins In 30 days. Objective: Tidal wave. Optimize preparing a dam for you safety.
Qingran feet slowed, Lingquan had given her a mission, and the apocalypse system had brought out an objective.
How the heck are they supposed to build a dam within a month. They lacked the manpower and resources to build equally.
[Would be wiser to complete my mission first, 40 survivors should be a starting manpower in building a dam.]
Qingran sighed "How many zombies are in this building? And how many people here are infected?"
[Running, I’ll be back with that data in a bit.]
With Lingquan working on gathering intel, Qingran turned her attention to the kitchen. She cautiously pushed open the doors, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger.
The kitchen was in disarray, pots and pans scattered everywhere. Qingran spotted a few cans of food on the counter, partially hidden by a pile of utensils.
She approached the counter, her senses on high alert.
As she reached for the cans, she heard a faint groaning noise coming from the pantry.
Qingran’s grip on her weapon tightened, and she slowly made her way to the pantry door.
With a deep breath, she flung open the door, ready to face whatever horrors lay within.
But instead of zombies, she found shelves stocked with non-perishable food items. Cans of vegetables, fruits, and meats lined the shelves, alongside packets of rice and pasta.
Qingran’s eyes widened as she assessed the supplies.
This could be a good starting point for their survival. She called out to Meng Nian, "Looks like we’ve got a decent stockpile of food here. Let’s secure the kitchen and then move on to clearing the rest of the building."
Meng Nian nodded, his expression grim. "Let’s get to it. We don’t know how much time we have before these things multiply."
With renewed determination, Qingran and Meng Nian set to work securing the kitchen and gathering supplies.
As they worked, Qingran’s mind whirled with the challenges ahead. Clearing the building, finding survivors, and building a dam – it was a daunting task, but she was determined to see it through.
Lingquan’s voice chimed in.
[I’ve finished scanning the building. There are approximately 40 zombies and 27 infected humans scattered throughout the floors.]
Qingran’s eyes narrowed as she considered the data. "I see, then I’ll have to prioritize clearing the building. We can’t afford to have zombies or infected posing a threat to our survival."
"I understand." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Qingran turned to Meng Nian and said, "Why don’t you head back to the 40th floor and gather some food? I’ll take care of the zombies here."
Meng Nian nodded, seemingly unaware of Qingran’s plan. "Alright, be careful."
With that, he turned and headed toward the elevator.
Qingran watched him disappear into the hallway before a sly smile spread across her face.
She had a plan to take care of the zombies, one that didn’t involve searching every floor.
With a calculated smile, Qingran began to trigger alarms on various floors, starting from the top and working her way down.
The loud clanging and piercing sirens echoed through the corridors, drawing the zombies toward the sound.
She knew it wouldn’t take long for them to converge on the lobby.
As the first few zombies stumbled into the lobby, Qingran positioned herself behind a pillar, her eyes fixed on the entrance.
She waited patiently, her grip on her weapon firm.
The zombies continued to pour in, their groans and shuffling footsteps filling the air.
Qingran counted silently, estimating the number of zombies she’d need to take down.
When the last zombie stumbled into the lobby, she sprang into action.
With swift and deadly precision, she began to take out the zombies one by one, her movements fluid and calculated.
The lobby became a killing zone, the sound of zombies hitting the floor echoing off the walls.
Qingran worked efficiently, taking down the undead with ease.
She dodged their clumsy attacks, her agility and quick reflexes allowing her to avoid their grasping hands.
As the zombies fell, Qingran’s movements became more precise, her aim more accurate.
She took out the zombies with a mix of headshots and precise strikes, her training and experience guiding her actions.
The lobby was soon filled with the bodies of the undead, their lifeless forms strewn across the floor.
Qingran stood victorious, her chest heaving slightly with exertion.
She surveyed the carnage, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of remaining zombies.
Satisfied that she’d cleared the lobby, Qingran began to make her way through the building, ensuring that no other zombies remained.
She moved floor by floor, her senses on high alert, ready to take out any stragglers.
As she cleared the final floor, Qingran felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her.
She had completed her task efficiently, and the building was now secure.
She made her way back to the lobby, her footsteps echoing off the walls.
"I should probably burn all these bodies and then find those infected before it’s too late."
She reached the foot of the stairs again just as Lingquan’s voice returned in her mind, calm and composed despite the chaos she’d just finished cleaning up.
[Good job. Zombie count is now zero. Infected status has changed: 5 are now in advanced stages, transformation expected in the next 2–4 hours. The remaining 22 are stable but progressing. You’ll need to act fast.]
Qingran wiped the blood off her blade, stepping around the mangled corpses that littered the lobby. The scent of rot was thick in the air. There was no way she could leave this mess here. The survivors would panic, and more importantly—flies, bacteria, disease.
She pulled up the building’s management system from her terminal, accessing the ventilation and fire suppression functions. "Initiate ventilation sweep for floors 1 through 10. Prep incineration protocol in the lobby."
[Initiated.]
Blue fire ignited at her fingertips and swept across the bodies in a wave, dancing unnaturally with elegance and intent.
It licked through the gore without touching the floor, burning hot enough to purify but not to destroy.
The scent of blood and rot gave way to ozone and ash, the kind of sterile heat that left no room for decay.
The air shimmered, then cleared.
No smoke. No filth. Just the faint trail of flame-blue light drifting through the now-pristine lobby.
With the lobby cleared of bodies, Qingran turned her attention to finding the infected humans. She knew she had to act fast, as Lingquan’s update had indicated that five of the infected were in advanced stages of transformation. Qingran’s priority was to find and contain them before they became a threat to her and Meng Nian.
She began to search the building floor by floor, her senses on high alert for any signs of the infected. As she moved through the corridors, she noticed that the building’s layout seemed to be designed for efficiency, with clear signage and logical room placement.
Qingran’s search led her to a series of rooms on the upper floors, where she found several of the infected humans. They were in various stages of transformation, some showing more advanced symptoms than others. Qingran knew she had to act quickly to prevent them from becoming zombies.
With her weapon at the ready, Qingran began to take out the infected humans who were beyond saving. She worked efficiently, her movements precise and calculated. The others, she sedated, hoping to find a way to cure them or at least slow down their transformation.
As she finished her task, Qingran felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had cleared the building of zombies and taken care of the infected humans.
Now, she could focus on finding survivors and preparing for the apocalypse.
Qingran made her way back to the 40th floor, where she found them waiting for you.
"It’s clear" she said, her voice low. "The building is secure. Now, we need to find more survivors and prepare for the tidal wave."
Bai Shiyue served her, a plate of egg fried rice and orange juice.
"You should eat. You’ve burned a lot of energy and you even skipped breakfast.."
"Thank you. How’s the baby coming along? If you have any complications, tell me so we can figure something out."
