Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land-Chapter 681 - 138: Rescue One by One
When Yue Minzhi arrived at the Water Dungeon, it was almost completely submerged. The lower terrains, especially those near the sea surface, had turned into a vast expanse of water.
The Sea Defense Army’s Water Dungeon had over a hundred cells, and Yue Jinghua and their small group of six or seven people had no idea where exactly the prisoners were kept.
Yue Minzhi knew that dragging the time further would put the lives of those inside the Water Dungeon at risk.
In his panic, he hastily checked several dungeons, but all were empty.
"Big brother, I’m here," just as he was frantically searching, he saw his younger sister Yue Jinghua climbing up from a nearby sea cliff.
She was soaked but appeared to be unharmed.
"Huahua, how did you come from..." Yue Minzhi asked, puzzled.
"Don’t ask so much now, there’s no time. I escaped from an underwater entrance beneath the cell, the Water Dungeon is completely filled with water. Long Rui, she is locked in the cell next to mine, our cells are on lower terrain, they must be fully flooded by now," Yue Jinghua said in a somewhat jumbled manner. She then looked at her brother Yue Minzhi, whose expression visibly changed when he heard Long Rui was in danger.
However, he soon put on an indifferent demeanor and said, "Let’s save the others first."
Stubborn as a mule, Yue Jinghua shook her head at this, pulling out a Parrot Snail from her person, "I’ll save the others. Do listen carefully, don’t miss out on this fate just because she belongs to the National Guardian General Residence. Don’t wait until it’s too late and drown in regrets."
After speaking, Yue Jinghua waded through the water, heading straight towards Qian Luo rather than conducting a random rescue.
The Water Dungeon’s Dark Array was hard to open, but with Qian Luo present, opening the Water Dungeon would be much more convenient.
Before Yue Jinghua could swim out a few steps, she saw Qian Luo coming her way with Shalman.
For a brilliant Array Master like Qian Luo, the Dark Array of the Water Dungeon posed little challenge. She stayed in the Water Dungeon simply because her master Yue Jinghua had instructed her to stay.
Once the flooding occurred, Qian Luo immediately unlocked the Dark Array of the Water Dungeon and rescued Shalman, who was not far from her cell.
"Master, you made it out?" Qian Luo and others were about to look for her. Seeing her unharmed, they too sighed in relief.
"What about the others? Auntie was locked right next to you guys, wasn’t she?" Amongst the group, Yue Jinghua was most worried for Shalman and Chi Xi. One was a cook and the other a Breeding Cultivator; both had weaker Dark Power compared to others and had endured several days in the Water Dungeon, likely struggling with the conditions.
That’s why, when they entered the Water Dungeon, she had particularly given them each a few Fire Lotus Seeds that could ward off cold and evil.
"The three of us left together, but Auntie said she wanted to go look for Qing Zizhu. Worried about your safety, she asked us to come find you first," Shalman was also uneasy about leaving Chi Xi alone, but she was more concerned about the safety of her good friend Yue Jinghua and had to split from Chi Xi.
Hearing this, Yue Jinghua quickly urged Qian Luo to go rescue others.
Meanwhile, Yue Minzhi had finished listening to the conversation between Yue Jinghua and Long Rui that was left in the Parrot Snail from their last talk. Long Rui’s coquettish voice and her nearly vow-like words caused Yue Minzhi’s body to shudder, stirring an unprecedented feeling within him.
Long Rui at the age of three or four, he could barely remember now. Vaguely, he seemed to recall, that he once secretly took a Jinmao Rabbit that his mother Lie Rou was raising, and gifted it to Long Rui.
As for what he said then or the emotions with which he had spoken those words, he no longer remembered.
"To never part, silly girl, how could I possibly..."
Yue Minzhi murmured softly to himself.
Long Rui’s infatuation, strong enough to move even a rock, how could Yue Minzhi be so heartless.
The rustling seawater underfoot seemed to remind him that Long Rui was in urgent danger.
Yue Minzhi dared not hesitate any longer, hastily heading for the depths of the Water Dungeon.
Along the way, the water deepened from ankle-height to above the knees, and then up to the shoulders, causing Yue Minzhi, a man of nearly nine feet tall, to be terrified.
When he reached the dungeons Yue Jinghua had told him about, he saw the waves like a ferocious flood, completely submerging the entire cell.
Yue Minzhi felt a chill on his scalp and began searching for the switch to deactivate the Dark Array of the Water Dungeon.
In his panic, he fumbled around for a long time but couldn’t find the switch.
"Long Rui, can you hear my voice? I am Yue Minzhi," Yue Minzhi became somewhat frantic, and without hesitation, he drew the sharp sword from his waist and struck at the Dark Array.
All he heard was a buzzing sound from the Dark Array underwater, but it remained unaffected.
In the Water Dungeon, there was also no response from Long Rui.
Yue Minzhi’s eyes reddened with urgency, his sword dancing wildly, causing water to splash alarmingly. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Amidst the chaotic sword flashes, he inadvertently triggered the mechanism of the Dark Array, and the Dark Array of the Water Dungeon opened.
Yue Minzhi rushed into the Water Dungeon and finally found Long Rui, unconscious in a corner of the dungeon.
He dared not delay any longer; he picked up Long Rui and swam out of the Water Dungeon. Clutched in his arms, Long Rui’s body was ice cold, her long lashes lifeless like withered grass, and her breath faint. She had been in the Water Dungeon for several days, soaked in cold water and starving, her body extremely weak.
Seeing Long Rui, fragile as if made of glazed tiles ready to shatter at a touch, Yue Minzhi felt a surge of sorrow.
He charged forward fiercely, with only one thought in mind: he must not let Long Rui die; he was willing to do anything as long as she lived.
Just as Yue Minzhi rescued Long Rui, Yue Jinghua and others also found Qing Zizhu and Ji Yun.
The cell housing the two was barely better than where Yue Jinghua was; the water had already risen above their heads.
Lacking Yue Jinghua’s precautious and pearl to breathe under the water, they couldn’t escape the Water Dungeon and could only hold their breath while waiting for rescue.
Ji Yun was still relatively better off; his Cultivation was much stronger than Qing Zizhu’s and could hold his breath longer. By the time Qian Luo and others arrived, Chi Xi had already rescued the two from the Water Dungeon.
But Qing Zizhu had already swallowed a belly full of water, and he, too, had passed out like Long Rui.
Chi Xi tried various methods but could not revive his son; he was devastated by grief and continuously blamed himself for not finding him sooner.
Yue Jinghua meanwhile flipped Qing Zizhu’s eyelids and, along with Shalman, carried him to a shallower place.
At that moment, Yue Minzhi also arrived, holding Long Rui.
"Surname Yue, why didn’t you save them earlier," Ji Yun, shivering, upon seeing Long Rui and the unconscious Qing Zizhu, took out all his anger on Yue Jinghua, who had escaped alone.
"Stop nagging, think of ways to save them first," Yue Jinghua glanced at the ashen-faced Chi Xi and Yue Minzhi, an idea suddenly forming in her mind.
"Ways? What more can we try, we’ve tried everything," Ji Yun said disheartenedly, "if only Cheng Ying were here. Why don’t we go find Cheng Ying?"
"She is a Pill Master; she only knows how to use Elixir Pills to save people. Looking at their current state, they cannot take Elixir Pills," Yue Jinghua said calmly, "I do have a way to save them, but I’m not sure if you’re willing to try it."
